OBMAMA: "Your Kids should learn to speak Spanish"

Recommended Posts

We already have kids graduating high school that can't speak English or proper English, now we're going to make them learn Spanish? :wall:

Name another country that doesn't speak English, that if you moved there would change their language for you? :overhead:

Two.

I'm too focking lazy to learn a 3rd world language like Spanish, and no government on Earth can force me to.

Fock 3rd world countries and their languages and all of their illegal immigrant b@stards forcing their illegal crap down the throat of my country. :overhead:

When you break the law in this country by entering it illegally from Mexico, you shouldn't be rewarded with free stuff, and all of the legal residents of the country having to conform to your language and culture.

Of coarse, evil liberal b@stards like Obama don't have any common sense, so anything he says I just chalk up to being from the pits of Hell.

While it's pretty clear either wiffle is a flaming racist, or trying to make a joke, I agree with his post.

This country is all about 1 thing. Freedom.

MAKING a kid learn another language is NOT freedom.

Letting the Federal Government run our education system is NOT freedom. It's a form of tyranny.

Who knows how to raise your kids better; you or a politician?

Pretty easy answer right?

I don't think we're ever going to stop the migration from Mexico to here.

No politician wants to alienate a huge populus.

But to force us to learn Spanish and them not forced to learn English is just plain bullshit.

Forcing kids to work for the greater good of others is fuckin communism. Plain and simple.

You can argue all you want, and use any angle you want, you'll NEVER convince me otherwise.

We were given our freedom in hopes that those who are less fortunate would be helped out by those who have better, simply from the kindness of their hearts. Here in MN, when a tornado hits a town, or a river floods, people FLOCK from all over to help those who are in trouble. It's not to get on TV, nor is it typically people we even know. We just help people when they need it.

Taxation for welfare and entitlement programs, and forced labor should be left up to Charity and the good in all people.

I too was seriously planning on voting for this guy JUST to prove to the GOP that they focked us, and they won't continue to get our vote if they stray from the party, but GODDAM, there's just about no way I can vote for a fuckin communist.

Some of the sh1t that comes out of his mouth is downright absurd.

There's three. Damn, I'm good. :overhead:

By the way, you need to learn what the word "communist" means. Seriously. You seem like a guy that has some intelligence, but the last 2 lines of this post are absolutely outrageous.

Agree with BLS...which is interesting in of itself  First thing that struck me wasn't the content of what he said but the dictating tone "every parent should do...." :overhead: Even if I agree with it, it's not a politician's place to say what every parent should make their child do. Peenie, you're smart, this has nothing to do with the fact he's black, but BLS post makes some good points. It actually scares me to see those points mean nothing to people.

Perhaps LEARNING something new for a change, like another language of a populace who's going to eclipse the caucasians sooner than later, INSTEAD of sitting on our fat, lazy a$$es complaining about everything, might make us more culturally literate, and Americans would stop having a ME ME ME mentality. :overhead:

Nope. Not even close to outrageous. I feel the exact same way and have said so many times here. The democrats should have been a sure win this November and I was almost certain I would vote for a dem this election after the way the GOP has been with Bush and now McCain. But leave it to the dems to shoot themselves in the foot again and nominate the worst possible candidate they can possible find. My dad has voted for the dems every election his entire life. Not this year though since Obumer is the nominee. He is absolutely shocked at how stupid the dems seem to be in the nomination process. To think that McCain even has a shot at this right now is embarrassing as hell to the democrats and speaks volumes about the party.

While we are at it, why don't we have all of our children learn ancient Arabic languages in school, so they can bow down towards Mecca and worship the terrorist's god Allah in the original language Mohammed used.

This will ensure that the terrorists will leave us alone from now on.

Let's all bow down to the 3rd world pi$$ants in the name of peace and freedom. Who cares if our children are made slaves to them and their culture and their gods? Obama sure doesn't.

Aren't Caucasians supposed to be the minority by 2050 or so due to the increase in Hispanics in the U.S.? What happens when you're speaking the minority language of English?

i didn't write anything about obama being black. this is a subject about language. someone else mentioned negroes not me.

i really don't understand the fuss. you can't graduate from high school without taking a foreign language. what are you all opposing? educating yourselves so that you can communicate with the large amount of spanish speaking people in this hemisphere?

it doesn't matter if you learn spanish or not. once again, it's to YOUR benefit. they are going to be bilingual and the places they control will remain spanish speaking. they aren't going anywhere as a matter of fact their numbers are increasing. back yourselves into an intolerance corner if you want to, it's your loss. you see: puedo hablar espanol (un poquito).

(oh, and it's so funny how this board was delighted that obama was telling black men to be better fathers and how everyone was against jesse jackson for saying obama was talking down to blacks yet now when discussing something that affects YOU it's another story-obama is out of line)

Honestly, as a teacher and a parent of three young children, I absolutely adore the fact that he goes after ignorant/uneducated/deadbeat parents. I love when he talks about his education policy and hammers on permissive parenting. The fact that he tells parents to turn off the video games, have an idea as to where their kid is at, keep an eye on their grades.......priceless.

Hmmm..I'm a dumb hick, huh?

Yes, as a matter of fact I did attend college, however I don't see where that has ANY justification for an intelligence rating.

If you wanna get in an intelligence battle sweetcheeks, you let me know.

Yeah...I don't really see the fuss about this. It doesn't seem, at least from that particular clip, that he's in favor of passing legislation that would force parents to teach their children another language (or anything like that). Thus, he's not impeding on anyone's freedom here because he isn't suggesting (again...at least not in that clip) that this should be federally mandated or anything; instead, he's just stating what he personally believes. I've got no problem with that...

IMHO, he's absolutely right about this. In an increasingly global market, people benefit from being bilingual. If I had any kids, I'd sure as hell be pushing them to learn other languages, along with English. Sure...it can help expose them to different cultural/social aspects, but the BIGGEST preparation that it provides is in the professional sector. The fact is that more-and-more businesses are privileging those employees who can understand, communicate, and situate themselves in the global market. As it stands right now, for many careers, employees who can speak Spanish or Middle Eastern languages, for instance, are in very high demand because the clientele and business environments are rapidly changing (at least for lots of businesses).

If I was a parent, I'd want to know that I've done everything in my power to help prepare my kids to succeed in life -- and, for me, part of that success is career-oriented. Can a kid get a good job in today's market while only speaking English??? Definitely. Would that same, exact kid have a better shot at landing a job if he/she had additional bilingual skills??? Almost assuredly.

By the way, you need to learn what the word "communist" means. Seriously. You seem like a guy that has some intelligence, but the last 2 lines of this post are absolutely outrageous.

Communism:

a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.

(Sounds alot like the antithesis of Liberty doesn't it?)

Obama:

"You're kids should learn to speak Spanish"

If you can't see the similarities between suggesting children should be forced to learn Spanish, or to work 'for the greater good', I doubt I'm the one with the intelligence problem.

Just because you have a Master's Degree doesn't make you any smarter than anyone else. But I doubt they 'taught' you that in school.

That's partly what I hate about you fuckin liberals. You think you're on some higher intelligence level than everyone else because you look at the world differently.

You believe it's ok to take from someone else because he has more and GIVE it to whom YOU deem necessary.

Who the fuck are you to determine who deserves it?

You look at a poor man and have compassion. You look at a single mother and feel sad.

You look at an old person with very little savings and feel the need to help them.

I look at a poor man and see a lazy fuck with no pride at all. He'd rather take a free check, regardless of how small it is, than go get a job bagging groceries and holding his head high every night on his way home.

I look at a single mom as someone who doesn't take a pill or isn't responsible enough to choose her partners wisely.

I look at an old person and see someone who either A)can't plan for the future or B)got fucked by Social Security..you know...the same kinds of entitlement and welfare programs you fuckin liberals continue to say we must expand.

Are there exceptions...of course. I'm not an idiot. Everything is not black and white. I happen to believe very little is.

Government fucks ###### up. And Government telling us how to live our lives when just over 200 years ago, our families fought, killed and died to give us the one thing no other country truly has. Liberty.

And you want me to even listen to a guy who says things that are inherently socialist?

Are we that short minded? Are we THAT spoiled already as a society?

YOU are the problem. If you wanna help out a poor man....teach him a skill on your own time. It's called charity. It used to work in this country till people were taxed to death by people with your dumbass mentality.

Yes, Rattlesnake. You fuckin pissed me off.

I'll NEVER understand the liberal mentality. NEVER.

You know, Winston Churchill once said "If you're not a liberal by the time your 20, you don't have a heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 40, you don't have a brain."

I hope the point is self evident.

Wanted to put in the disclaimer there. Some of the things he says makes me really not want him as pres. You've said stuff like "because he's black.." and you were probably kidding, but I wanted you to understand the criticism is objective.

Don't have a problem with kids learning another language. My mom made me learn Spanish. To address both you and Rattlesnake: A politician shouldn't be "going after" what a parent should do for their child. It's not his place to be saying to parents "you should do this..." My parents are teachers (mom use to teach grade school) and they have their ideas of what's better too. But I don't want to live in a country where we hope this guy we elect is going to be the motivator parents have to do something better with their kids. I don't think he would actually motivate deadbeat parents, because they just don't care, but that besides the point. It's the philosophical implications of allowing politicians to assume that place that is alarming. As a matter of principle, we should never get comfortable with that.

I think the less statements like that give us pause, even if what's advocated we technically agree with, the more likely we are to devolve to the point where we'll let government mandate what should be personal choices. There are politicians who could say the same statement and it won't make me negatively react, because virtually everyone holds ideas like that (blanket subscribe something that breaches the realm of peoples' personal choices) but ones that have a pattern of making statements like that combined with people warming up to allowing them to have that place is alarming.

Peenie...I mean this with all sincerity.

It's not about whether or not it's good for you or not. I agree 100% it is.

You're a fool if you think that speaking Spanish in the US isn't going to help you.

Think of all the clients you can communicate with if say you were a Landlord?

That's NOT the point.

The point is Freedom.

Obama's mentality SEEMS to be very much "this is what we WILL do. You WILL learn this, your kids WILL perform community work", etc.

That's communism/socialism in it's root forms. Working for the greater good, every shares, nobody is unequal.

You will do this because it's good for you.

Example:

You will NO LONGER drink Beers because they are bad for you, so they are now outlawed.

Do you see where i'm going with this?

Its true...beer and alcohol are bad for you. But who's right is it to tell me what to do with my life?

That's why I hate laws like seatbelt laws, indoor smoking, helmet laws for motorcycles.

It's MY life. I'll live it however I see fit, as long as I don't infringe on anyone elses life, liberty or pursuit of happiness.

THAT'S LIBERTY...and LIBERTY is why we are the most powerful country in the world.

But the LIBERTY mentality is slipping. People don't want to go out and EARN what they want.

They want it given to them. And for some reason we are obliging.

In this country, EVERYONE has the opportunity to get rich. To Live the AMERICAN DREAM.

Anybody can open their own business and live life how they see fit.

Look at all the immigrants who own liquor stores. I have no idea why they do it, but they know there is OPPORTUNITY here.

Anyone can make anything they want from their life. But it requires work and sacrifice.

Welfare perpetuates welfare.

'Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.'

That's my point. Some people need help, but others just need a kick in the as$.

Liberty.

there was a time when going to school wasn't mandatory. why learn to read when all you need is a strong back?

heck, it was just my mother's generation when people thought it was stupid to college educate women because all they're gonna do is get married, stay home and have kids.

you need to modify your behavior not only to keep up with the times but to prepare for the change that is already here.

besides that, do you not understand that kids are already taking a foreign language??

the top ranked private schools in georgia require the children to have 3 years of a foreign language.

it's funny how people admire the asians for coming here and doing so well academically and yet when someone suggest we pattern excellence in school you get these backward ass responses.

omg! forcing our children to communicate with others???!!!

Naomi....I have a newfound respect for your intellect.

I have always struggled to say what you said so elloquently in the above post.

It should scare people. But it doesn't and that scares me.

I think our society has been all about "ME ME ME". I want a new boat cuz the neighbor got one. I want a faster car, big screen TV, you name it. And we're willing to put both parents out the door and off to work to get it.

But the kids suffer because there's no discipline, no guidance from a loving figure. We can't expect schools to do it, heck teachers are AFRAID of kids now. Asking the government to be our nanny is just another step towards total dependence and trust me, our government will oblige, because that means MORE CONTROL for them and LESS LIBERTY for us.

Hence the reason I believe we are moving towards a socialist state.

A lot of people are saying he shouldn't say "you should do.." You guys act like he's the first politician to say this. I'm sure 99% of politicians have said something along the same lines. "Americans need to be better finacial managers" is one i've heard a lot. How is that any different? Every politician has said some form of "you should do.."

Also, English isn't the official language of the U.S.

And BLS, i don't get why you're harping on the freedom thing. Its just a suggestion. And its not like he's the first president to mess with the education system. No Child Left Behind is way worse than making a foreign language a high school requirement (if obamas suggestion eventually became incorporated into high school graduation requirements.)

Politicians CONSTANTLY tell us how to raise kids.

I can't help but feel a lot of the stuff that gets said about obama is because of his skin color. Not saying you are racist, but it seems like it affects people subconciously. I'm not trying to imply that obama is never wrong, but there are some wacky things people get all worked up by. I think this is an example of that. These kinds of things differ from disagreeing or thinking he's wrong about healthcare/taxes/etc.

I think the big thing is that he was out to be some kind of messiah, a god among men, put on a pedestal by his followers, the media, etc. Now any kind of blemish knocks him further off the pedestal. It's not the skin color. It's how overhyped he was.

...I dunno about that in terms of how specific it is. Was thinking about it earlier. I do suspect many have, but I think he says a lot of stuff along those lines. It's natural for people to hold those kinds of opinions, nearly everyone has them, but there should be that philosophical distancing away from subscribing something that breaches the realm of personal liberty. As for his skin color, Hilary Clinton bothered me for the same exact reason. You have a good point though, others might not SAY the stuff, but still operate accordingly.

Philly, don't know about that either. Personally think I'd respond the same if it was someone else.

Wow, I touched a nerve. All of this because I suggested that it's a good idea for kids to learn Spanish and because I pointed out the fact that Obama obviously doesn't mean he doesn't want immigrants to learn English. This apparently makes me a liberal, a communist, a socialist, anti-American, etc.
