Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 27, 2008 What a bunch of maroons. So now Mike McCarty tells us Aaron Rodgers gives the packers the best chance to win. Oh really? Then why were the GM and the coach willing to fly down in a private plane and officially un-retire Favre 2 weeks after he retired? Gotta love the dumb and dumber packer front office. At least the Bears had no choice other than go with a Grossman vs Orton competition since the FA QBs and Qbs in this year's draft were not really great to begin with. But here we have dumb and dumber telling us that Rodgers is better than a QB that just had their team in the NFC Championship game. Oh and I love how McCarthy realizes the O is gonna stink with Rodgers so he covers his azz by telling us how he is a defensive coach. Oh really? Since when did he become a defensive minded coach? ============== "Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers," McCarthy said. "That's been stated over and over again. I hope we can finally understand that. That's where we are as an organization and as a head coach of the Green Bay Packers. I don't know how else to answer that question." =============== Despite his background as a quarterbacks coach, McCarthy prefers to win with defense -- a philosophy that presumably works best with steady but unspectacular play from a quarterback. ============== Who gives you the better chance of winning? MM- AR is our starting QB. That should answer the question. ============== MM- Moving forward means the emphasis is on the DEFENSE. Guess you missed this: The Bears had 12 draft choices this year. No quarterback picked. Chicago had nine draft choices in 2007. No quarterback picked. Chicago had seven draft choices in 2006. Three years with a quarterback need, 28 draft choices, and never a passer picked. This isn't odd. It's negligent.--Peter King You're too easy. DixieDevils 0 Posted July 27, 2008 Good grief, what is McCarthy supposed to say: "With Aaron Rogers as our QB, we're going to suck." Of course, he's not going to say that. I'm not a Packers fan. Far from it, but I'm pulling for the kid to do well just to shut people up. The Packers front office made the right move here. Sweetness, with all due respect, you're bias opinion here is getting rather old. I guess misery loves company cause God knows the Bears aren't going anywhere this year. kwyjibo 0 Posted July 27, 2008 I guess if I was a Packer fan I'm supposed to want Favre back so I can watch my team get to the back to the brink of the Super Bowl only to see it all fall apart after another of Brett's brain-dead INTs. What would be truly hilarious is if GB eventually does let Favre back, and let him be the starting QB, only to see the Pack get off to a terrible start, and then he decides he wants to retire again in the middle of the season. The only game I saw Rodgers play last year was the GB-Dallas game, and he looked like a much better QB than Favre in that one.

ieatchickens 0 Posted July 27, 2008 Sweetness, Sounds like you are a little bitter that the Packers have more than one option at quarterback. Even with only one option it's still more than the Bears have had for the past 22 years. Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy gave their word to Rodgers that he was their starting quarterback. I guess giving your word is not in style in Chicago. Funny how people are down on them for making a decision and sticking with their man. Who by the way isn't going to flip flop about retiring after the 2008 season. Given that Rodgers (hopefully get resigned), Thompson and McCarthy all will be with the organization in 09' and beyond, I can see why they had to cut bait with Favre. Belushi 9 Posted July 27, 2008 Chicago would be happy to have any of the Packer's QB starting for them, even Brohm. Heck, Brohm would be the best QB to start for Chicago in the last 10 years. How did that first round pick on Benson work out for ya? Yea, great front office in Chicago. It's kind of sad that with training camp starting, all that the Chicago fans have to talk about is the Packers. If you want to jump on the bandwagon, go ahead. We'll understand. If you watch football, you'd realize Favre was just chukking the ball all over the place that season, and there were clearly skill players or any kind of a game plan to back him up. And, no, I'm not saying it is inexcusable, but as people love to make fun of, "that's just Favre being Favre" But seriously, my point is this: don't just blindly post season stats to "prove" a point. Favre has shown over and over that with the right amount of pressure on him from the coach, and even a small number of offensive weapons, he can DOMINATE the game. Right now, comparing him to Aaron Rogers is laughable. (that is: comparing them as QBs for the 2008 season is laughable) EDIT: ok, and to stay on my soapbox for one more second... This argument, "well, Favre might not even be good anymore" is soo washed up. Lots of people did exactly what you are doing one and two years ago. After a bad year and a mediocre one, they were saying, "clearly Favre is completely washed up". These people also don't watch football, because if they did, they would have seen him making the same amazing throws -- it is very clear that his skills are not eroding yet. If you WATCH the games, you know that every year, even his bad ones, he was making the impossible throws. What Favre needs is a coach to keep him in line and some meager amount of talent on offense. Also, Favre blew it in the championship game. It made me sick. Fortunately it wasn't a surprise for me. Why? -- because I know that Favre always blows it? NO! -- because the entire game I watched the coaching staff abandon the run, and make Favre throw pass after pass in bad conditions. The game plan was terrible, and I knew after watchting the entire thing that at some point Favre was going to F-up. This isn't a hard concept -- it's like being a good manager. You have to know how to get the best out of your workers. If you do that with Favre, he's unstoppable. If you don't, he's going to make big mistakes.

This is true -- regarding the NYG D and needing to use the pass. Maybe I blame the Packer's game plan and coaching more than I should be giving credit to the Giants D -- they did a similar thing against the Pats in the SB. It was very frustrating to watch the pack with zero ground game, and then start forcing lots of passes into shallow dink and dunk routes against the GMen. I really did know something bad was coming. So, maybe that is how you beat Brett Favre. It is a definite weakness of his, much more so than some of the other current great qbs in the league. It obviously works against Tom Brady to some extent. My only position in the Favre saga is that GB should put the best players on the field, and in the case of the QB I think Favre gives them a better chance to win. DixieDevils 0 Posted July 28, 2008 You know I think I figured this out. Seems the reason the Chicago Bears fans are so happy about all of this is because the Bears have not had the same QB lead the team in passing in back-to-back years since Jim Miller -- YES, JIM MILLER -- in 2001 and '02. Not one. Maybe the Bears can find themselves a real QB -- one that is more than a one-year wonder -- to stand up and play for them this year. But I doubt it. Talk about a joke...just look to your own team.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted July 28, 2008 Yeah you keep dreaming Rodgers will be the next Brady.... oh yeah, you are not a homer.... So you are ignorant and illiterate... why don't you quote my whole post...you know...where I say Im not saying Rodgers is Brady...Im saying that you just never know what Rodgers can do. Yup...never said he would be the next Brady...but he could be...it could happen. Not a dream...Im not expecting it...but claiming it just cannot happen that he could succeed is ever more foolish. Talk about a homer...you are whining so much about the Packers, you forget your Bears blow ass.
Sho Nuff 720 Posted July 28, 2008 Bears take care of their franchise players - both Urlacher and Hester sign extensions. Briggs, Tillman, Vasher, Mike Brown,Olin Kreutz etc were all given extensions. almost all of them before they hit FA (except Briggs of course) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp...tory?id=3507118 Fudgepackers tarnish their HOF Qb and face of the franchise who made them relevant after 30 years by LYING. Nice job idiots lying about your HOF Qb using a cell phone from the team when it is not true. Oh wait, this is the same GM that LIED about Randy Moss, about Javon Walker etc etc.... keep it up, I love it!! More 35-7 beatings on the way Problem is they have only few franchise players. Mike Brown...yeah...call me when he finishes a season. You mean like GB did with Barnett, Kampman, Driver...and so on. Yeah...the Packers do that too. Lied about Javon? Link...you mean the WR that still has bum knees and got cut from another team this year? Keep up the 35-7 lucky win...but still lose twice to the liedowns and finish dead last in the division while GB ended up in the NFC Title Game...lot of good those 2 wins did you. Link about the team lying about any cell phone too? Oh wait...you can only find where two media outlets reported that and not the team?
Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Link about the team lying about any cell phone too? Oh wait...you can only find where two media outlets reported that and not the team? So now you are telling me Favre is a liar too? Remove your homer glasses, stupid. ============ Favre adamantly denied reports that the Packers had evidence of his communications with Childress because they had the phone records from Favre's team-issued cell phone. "That's just bogus," said Favre. "I don't have a Packers' cell phone. Never have. I told Ted [on Thursday] that he and [coach Mike] McCarthy needed to clear up this cell phone thing. I told him they needed to get in front of the media and admit that I don't have one of their cell phones. And Ted said, 'Well, I think somebody already squashed that [story].' But that isn't enough. They need to get up and admit it's ridiculous and bogus."
Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 28, 2008 So far it was a great hire. Tell that to your lover boy, Brett Favre. He hates them both and thinks they lied to him repeatedly and cannot be trusted. In fact he told Goodell the same thing that he does not trust them to trade him and that they say different things to the media but do different things. I believe Favre actually....the fudgepacker GM and coach have egg on their face and are now being slimy snakes. Nice hire dipsh!ts. Enjoy being the joke of the NFL again for the next 30 years....like you were before Favre got there.
Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 28, 2008 Keep up the 35-7 lucky win... I am sure you enjoy being the Bear's beotch....
Sweetness_34 0 Posted July 28, 2008 you are whining so much about the Packers, you forget your Bears blow ass. I am not whining about the fudgepackers at all. I love this (sait it multiple times...learn to read). This is great entertainment and fun seeing favre sh!t all over the fudgepackers and his fans, ad expose the packer GM and coach as liars and frauds. So much fun seeing fudgepacker fans cuss Favre these days. Keep up with the entertainment while you cry at the end of the season when rodgers turns out to be not even half the QB Favre is right now. You seriously cannot make this up.... Oh and the Bears are 6-2 (actually 7-1) the last 4 years against your piss yellow and puke green franchise; with 1 SB appearance .... much better than anything the fudgepackers have done the last 4 years. But whatever makes you sleep well at night, princess!!
