Officially halfway done, and the pool is starting to thin a bit.

The fact that someone just picked Jamal Lewis tells me that the pool is indeed thinning.....

i think jamal lewis is an outstanding 7th round pick. especially if you could pick someone like marshawn in the 4th and then lewis in the 7th, its a perfect match. you know lewis is going to start healthy and strong as the sole starter for the first half the season at least, and hes got as good a left side of the line as anyone in football. great value pick. should be at least 1000 yards and 5+ TDs. cant argue with that at all.

glad hes gone actually. i was going to be tempted to take him at 7.3 but should take one of two upside WRs i love instead. i know remote's not taking either, so i gotta make a decision here. thought i would be taking both at 6.10/7.3.

Olsen is a tight end that I REALLY like. I was hoping to get him at some point, but I should have known with the upside that he possesses that someone would add him sooner than later.

There are some tight ends projected to have similar numbers to Olsen, but they are very much what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of tight ends. Olsen could be much, much more than that.

I really don't know what I was thinking though. I love Olsen, and have him as my #5 TE right behind Clark. I have planned to try to take him all along, then it just struck me, that I also had Forte. I hope that offense is very much improved because I now have a vested interest. This realization almost made me grab one of 2 Wideouts that looked very tempting. That is what took so long. I really wanted Olsen but worried over having two Bears. Fumble stated it well when he said "There are some tight ends projected to have similar numbers to Olsen, but they are very much what-you-see-is-what-you-get kind of tight ends. Olsen could be much, much more than that."

Gonzalez was a no brainer here, and a real gift for Bomb, who's plan has worked well! Gonzalez was the 3rd I spoke of with Evans, and Moss! Third year breakout canidate with Free sailing now. My only concern with him was Clark and Wayne in the redzone. Granted they will have many more redzone oppurtunities.

Bye, bye Anthony...I would loved to have you as a #3 WR.....

there were 2 WRs here that i love a lot, both guys i will be targetting a lot in drafts this year. i had a tough time picking this year but went with the one with the better upside, plus i love having the manning/gonzo connection as my WR3. im really honestly surprised he lasted this long. i considered him at 5.3 but knew that was early, but i thought hed be going somewhere in the 5th and still think he'll edge up toward that area by august because of the vaunted hype machine, and that probably pushes him out of my range. but i think his baseline is probably something like 1000/5 as a starter, and obviously in that offense theres always room to go up. im not entirely sure i see him as much of a redzone threat and that almost stopped me from taking him, but its a risk worth taking at WR3. everything about him screams upside and year 3 wr.

Peyton

MJD, MBIII

85, Evans, Gonz Lite

Gates

i can honestly say i dont remember a draft where i was so happy at every pick. the two i questioned were peyton and gates, wondering what i was passing on later. i actually couldve got romo at 5.3 and coudlve got ____ at 7.3 as targetted, but i didnt really lose out on much at wr from what i couldve got. i have a trio of guys all as solid WR2 types, all with WR1 potential. if one of them hits, i think that would be pretty tough team to beat.

im sure, feeling so good about it, something would go drastically wrong. MJD would get tackled out of bounds week 1 and tear his left manjibulator and in the process blow out peyton's knee who falls toppling onto gonz lite busting his leg. but oh well. what are you gonna do, right?

he damn near became my Wr4. I really struggled with that decision, at the last second. I really felt Clash was gonna grab him.

Nice pick with LenWhale. I'd have taken him at the last turn in LJ was gone. Good for TDs, spelling Chris Johnson, and is a reliable starter if Johnson gets hurt/regresses.

really thought about taking him over evans but wouldnt have made sense as a WR2. glad it worked out for me, though the 3rd guy i didnt end up taking i think would be a great pickup too.

Bomb...that was exactly the WR I was alluding to in my last post. I would have taken Gonzalez BEFORE Evans in a heartbeat. Regardless good pick and I think he's got alot of upside, especially in this format since he could turn into a nice red zone weapon for the Colts.

As for my pick...I think Lendale in this format can be serviceable as a #3 RB and will approach or maybe even slightly exceed 10 TD's. If Johnson were to get hurt.....look out.

Figured I could take a bit of a risk with Lance Moore as my 3rd wideout. Kinda the unheralded Wes Welker and Anthony Gonzalez of the NFL...

...and Fumble takes the other guy I was debating between. Kinda a "safe" pick versus a risk/reward pick decision.

Very unusual for me since I normally go with the safer guys.

I was trying to decide between Moore, Ward, and another receiver. I'm happy with Ward. He's a good #3 WR in any format.

lance moore is the other WR i was talking about above, debating between him and gonzalez (and evans). all guys i am pretty high on this year. not as sure about moore though. im not sure if he builds on last season and is possibly the #1 target in nawlins with colston's knee surgery, or if he takes a step back a bit as the ball spreads around again. that was what led me to take the other two guys instead, but a great 7th round upside pick either way. perfect wr3 type.

I love Moore, and what a year he had. He saved my IBL season after I lost Burress. This freak off season injury while lifting isn't good though. Shoulder surgery for a torn labrum will keep him out of all training camp and hopefully available for the beginning of the season. Had it not been for this occurance, he would have went much higher. I'm pulling for him, and so should all Brees, and Colston owners.

Agreed. He's in a higher tier for me if not for the off-season injury.

Moore remains sidelined: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Saints WR Lance Moore is out for the team's OTA workouts in May as he's recovering from the dislocated shoulder and torn labrum stemming from a weightlifting accident suffered in April. But he's making progress. "Today is the first day I actually ran since that injury, and I feel good," Moore said. "Hopefully, I'll continue to progress quickly." Moore is expected to miss the remainder of OTAs and minicamp June 5-7 and should be cleared to practice at some point in training camp. "My goal is to be ready for the first week of the season," said Moore, whose rehab program consists of range-in-motion and strengthening exercises for his left shoulder.

(Updated 05/21/2009).

Injury Report

Shoulder - Doubtful for the start of training camp; questionable for the start of the season

(Updated - 5/29/09)

Fantasy Analysis

Moore led the team in catches (79), receiving yards (928) and touchdown receptions (10) in 2008. He should be fine for the season, but continue to monitor what develops this offseason. When healthy, Moore is worth drafting with a mid-round pick as a No. 3 Fantasy WR.

wow, i didnt hear any of this news. i really ought to pay more attention. i guess that explains why the ADP is so low then, and it also jumps me right off his bandwagon.

e-mail sent to the King.

Much props to Jetdoc for keeping this thing going, constantly emailing me and letting me know it's my turn. I appreciate it bud, very busy this week and unforunately not much time to look although I do make time to come in and read all of the commentary. Good draft so far.

So, does anyone else just have an icky feeling about Coles this year?

Yep, agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if he lost his starting job mid-season to Henry/Simpson

There are a few other WRs that I would have taken ahead of him who are still available.

Damn you JScott!

I wanted Juliue very badly as my #3 RB, he's a starter, no competition, and a STEAL in round 7!!

Avery-good value here too. A #1 WR on his team (I know, it is S.L. tho), but still a number 1 receiver.

Owen Daniels is one of those guys that I'm really high on this year. The hype surrounding him as the "super sleeper" TE of last year has died down a bit, but he still should be insanely productive now that both Johnson and the other Houston wideouts have settled down.

I'd be very happy with him as my starting TE this year.

I like J.Jones potential to have a bounce back season. He and MoMo combined for approximately 300 touches, 1500 yards but only 4 TDs. Now that Morris is out and no new RB in the fold it looks like JJ will be featured with TJ maybe vulturing goalline TDs. If I can get 1200 with 5-7 TDs I'd be happy with that from my RB#3 in the mid-seventh. I think that's attainable if Hass can stay healthy and keep the passing game going.

V4E....you're welcome to Kolb, but McNabb is mine!

I put a note in the 8th round selections to hold off until Vikes fixes his pick.

BTW - I was debating on Daniels and Avery. Went with Daniels and hoped that Avery would make it back to me.

I considered Avery instead as my WR#3 here due to the same reasons you stated but in the end felt there were more options at WR3 left in the draft than there were for RB#3.

avery was my backup plan at 7.3 if my targets had gone. nice sleeper.

chris cooley is continually underrated EVERY YEAR. its crazy to me. i originally figured to snag him at 7.3 until gates fell into my lap. amazing pick at 7.11, and honestly probably a better value than gates at 5.3.
