Jetdoc 20 Posted June 4, 2009 Time to round out your rosters, boys! These two are my favorite rounds, as you'll see the true "flyers" start coming off the board as true risk-reward propositions.

ShaneFalco 0 Posted June 4, 2009 I'm hoping father time doesn't catch up with Driver. Even though he's older than dirt (34), he still has caught 75 balls the past 5 or 6 years
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted June 4, 2009 I wanted Mendenhall to go with FWP, but was Robbed.
JScott 20 Posted June 4, 2009 I think Hester is a perfect late round WR#3... he has big game ability, is a threat to go the distance every touch. He's been progressing nicely as a WR, and that was with crappy QBs. With the upgrade in CHI to a top QB this could really help Hester develop into a legit WR. I'm projecting 900/6 in 2009
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2009 there goes a few of the WRs i had my eye on. i was thinking about taking a RB3 at my 7.3 spot and then not getting WR3 until 8.10, hoping to get someone like driver or coles or walter there. looks like its a good thing i didnt wait. pretty good WR3/WR4 types. remote controller 143 Posted June 5, 2009 Ginn will go as far as Pennington will allow him. Not a slam on either, but it does restrict many homerun opps that Ginn might have, with the arm he'll have throwing to him. Pennington is smart with his arm though, and accurate. Nice grab with slim pickin's.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2009 bummer, definitely had a strong eye on ted ginn for my 8.10. another nice upside sleeper type. agree that he'll go as far as pennington takes him. which, last i checked, is only like 12 yards.

Clash of the Titans 1 Posted June 5, 2009 "Off week"?????? Don't we start 3 WRs? i think he means a wr who will fill in as his #3 or another wr when he is on a bye the draft has gone about like i expected...no one slips through the cracks and everyone is building a balanced team...can't yall just come unprepared for once instead of bringing your a-game for my last two picks i really had it narrowed down to lewis and julius jones.....even though i think seattle is the better offense just don't see JJ ever being a feature back and afraid he'll get hurt...still he was awesome value for jscott...i think lewis may have one more good year left in him i had jonathan stewart targeted there but of course he didn't make it....not bad for a virtual 7th rounder along with holt who has lost a step but if stays healthy should be the # 1 there and get 70/1000 7....was suprised gonzo was there this year but i think the indy offense takes a step down this year with the coaching changes cant believe olsen was snagged right after my 7.1...he was gonna be a sneaky pick for me at 8.12.....nice grab remote....once again wishful thinking love the gambles on hester/crabtree/ginn...... cutler was possibly great value as well more after the turn and i will rate the teams as soon as we are finished

Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2009 Wow, Bomb's putting a lot of thought into this one haha, more like a lot of sleep. honestly this draft has been too easy for me. i have targets and then i have dream shots, and the dream guys just keep falling into my lap just about every pick. i wait, i watch, they slowly fall... and bam, there they are. its very weird. im used to getting my pick snaked just about every time in this draft. i guess i must just like completely different players from people this year.
Ace08 11 Posted June 5, 2009 I have Schaub rated slightly higher than both Ryan and Cutler and I almost took him a round ago so I'm happy he made it back. I was going to wait until after the turn to take my QB but FantasyKing taking his 2nd QB forced my hand here given the fact there's a team behind me on the turn with no QB. So let me guess... in a draft full of experts you can't believe Breaston fell to the 8th round Nah, seriously I know what you mean... I think all of us at one time or another have had drafts like that where players that shouldn't drop that far just seem to fall into your lap... it's like the perfect storm of a draft

I think all of us at one time or another have had drafts like that where players that shouldn't drop that far just seem to fall into your lap... it's like the perfect storm of a draft i dont think breaston is a huge steal per se, but he sure is a nice snag as a WR4 at the end of the 8th round when i absolutely HAD to have someone. how many other 1000 yard receivers are out there, let alone those with the upside of being a fitz/q injury or a q holdout away from greatness? 5.3 gates 6.10 evans 7.3 gonz lite 8.10 breaston all of those most recent four picks went a minimum of half a round lower than i expected or than ive seen on ADP trackers, some of them even further. i guess i just feel very fortunate where i'll look at a list of like 8 guys coming up that i might want, rule out 3 or 4 i dont like, find the 2 i expect to be there, and then keep one name on my radar as the guy to make an angry post about when he gets taken before me.... and then i get that guy every time. very strange. i think its cuz nan isnt drafting right before me. It's a weird year...no doubt about it. This year more than others there really does seem to be ALOT of discrepency between the "geeks" on several of the "middle round" guys. You like 85...I absolutely hate him this year and think the guy who's going to lead Cincy in receiving hasn't even been drafted yet. (I just gave away my sleeper of the year but whatever it's just a mock). Likewise I don't like Gates for as high as you have to take him here considering the fact the toe appears to be a lingering issue and he may never be the Gates of old again. Breaston is definitely a good pick here as a speculative pick in case Boldin or Fitz get hurt or Anquain gets traded. Out of your 3 receivers I think your #3 (Gonzo) is going to be your best and most consistent producer. But yeah...I think this is going to be one of those drafts were all 12 of us walk out of here happy cause everyone almost seems to have completely different takes on ALOT of guys. Clash of the Titans 1 Posted June 5, 2009 sorry got dragged into an impromptu meeting when i got into work......gonna play a QBBC in this format
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2009 i knew clash would take exactly those two players. if i knew palmer couldve been had at 8.10, that wouldve changed my entire draft i think. i would far rather have palmer at 8.10 and another qb at 9.3 plus some star rb/wr at 3.3 then taking peyton there. palmer is a guy who averaged 4000/28 each of the previous three seasons before last year's injury. even with a slight dropoff to something like 3600/25, wow, what a value that is so late in a draft! it was all i could do to not break clash's heart and snag palmer right there, but i needed a wr and breaston was the last before a huge drop. Ace08 11 Posted June 5, 2009 I like Palmer as well.....good value and assuming he gets healthy just another reason why I wouldn't take a QB early in my real drafts.
JScott 20 Posted June 5, 2009 Just talked to RC... and told him Clash's picks.... he'll be back on in about 20 minutes, if not he'll call his pick in to me On Palmer, good value this late. The one thing though that I'll comment on regarding his averages that Bomb posted, sure that's an average but his numbers have got worse each of those seasons. Palmer has shown a definite patteRn of decline.
Clash of the Titans 1 Posted June 5, 2009 I like Palmer as well.....good value and assuming he gets healthy just another reason why I wouldn't take a QB early in my real drafts. i wanted schaub.......thanks i expect a bounceback year from palmer if he can stay healthy- i think ocho has a strong year....they have coles....and my man andre smith will provide a solid anchor on the left side......and if not roethlisberger (provided he didn't suffer a knee injury wednesday) ...... should be there for some matchup plays....the running game may be a little on the decline this year with parker getting older and who knows how well mendendall will be coming back from the injury.....i like ben's wide receivers and te ....... the value was too much to pass up there....i think the qb situation is really deep this year
Ace08 11 Posted June 5, 2009 i think the qb situation is really deep this year I agree...as a matter of fact I still see 2 QB's who I wouldn't feel too bad about heading into the season as a co (QBBC) starter.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2009 whatchu talkin bout willis? i'll take my chances with this guy so late in the draft. even playing injured all season long and missing three games completely, he still had 700 yards and 7 TDs last season. he plays for a team that is clearly going to run the ball, so the chances are there to be had. and i just feel like im not ready to turn away from the guy with one rotten apple of a season. he is still just 27 years old and has only 6 years of nfl tread on his tires, so i think he definitely has a couple more solid campaigns left. and yes the injuries have piled up and the way he ended the playoffs was gruesome, but lest we forget, this is the guy who injured his knee so badly in college that i cant watch it without getting sick to my stomach, and then he rehabbed so quickly and so well that he was still a 1st round draft pick three months later. not expecting anything amazing, but a guy still in the tail end of his prime that has averaged 1300 yards and 8 TDs over his career is fine by me as a shot in the 9th round. there seem to be a lot of RBs like that, guys that i can really talk myself into at this point of a draft. darren sproles was another i strongly considered here and probably wouldve taken over mcgahee, but thats my fault for opening my big mouth and yapping about how i got every player i wanted. sproles is playing for 6.6 million dollars this year, and ladainian turns 30 in about three weeks. too much potential upside there to not love it. Ace08 11 Posted June 5, 2009 I made this pick, deleted it, and re-posted it in fear some of you had already seen it and it was too late. My hesitation was tied to the fact this pick is based off the news that hit the wire yesterday, after this mock began. I'm not sure if it's considered bad form in these mocks to do what I just did...and if it is I'd be more than willing to delete the pick and go another route. If this were a real draft and based off the news yesterday I just don't think this kid lasts 9 rounds in a 12 team draft. As for the player himself...I'm a big fan of his talent going back to his freshman year at Pitt. I think he's got the tools to be a really really good player and that offense is tailor made for him. He's very similar, and probably even more talented, than you-know-who at similar points in their respective careers.
robb 81 Posted June 5, 2009 Palmer is a great pick here. I would have done the same, and may have taken him as my #2 QB had it gotten around to me (glad it didn't as it makes my choice more clear). No problem from me on what you did with McCoy-smart move!! I am waiting on another player to fall to me at 9.10....hope one of you don't screw it up for me and take him!! If this new broke during a real draft people would adapt and update their draft sheets. I see no reason not to do that here too.
Fumbleweed 546 Posted June 5, 2009 Absolutely it was o.k....it would be o.k in a real draft and especially in just a mock. I think this may have been about where McCoy would have gone regardless.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 5, 2009 like the mccoy pick. i had an eye on him but wondered where he would go, though i figured no way he got past 9.12 to v4e. i actually love mccoy, but im not positive he woudl be the immediate beneficiary of the westy injury so thats mostly why i didnt take him.
