***CHARGERS VS. STEELERS THREAD***

Recommended Posts

Okay...time to officially start playing the regret wheel. LT or Mendenhall, that was my decision for tonight. And even though it would take a miracle for my opp to beat me tonight...I hate leaving points on the bench. :/

Mendenhall already has 3-14 and a TD, for 7.3 points. Hmmmm.

9:40 to go in the half.

LT: 2 carries, 3 yards. 1 catch, -1 yard.

Mendenhall: 11 carries, 63 yards, 1 TD.

Sigh. You know, the reason I didn't start LT in the end, at least a big part of it, was that I didn't want to put a guy like LT on my bench and watch him go off for a ton of points. And I still think that would have been worse. But...the little voice told me to start Mendenhall, and I didn't. Listen to the little voice!

Chargers 3 first downs and 3 punts.

The Chargers are getting absolutely dominated in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. For example, the block where Mendenhall obliterated that Chargers lineman. :)

Wow, that was the break the Chargers needed. Too bad he grabbed the jersey.

This keeper league has been around since LTs rookie season, and I've had LT on my team the whole time. And over those years, from time to time, there have been weeks where things haven't looked good for LT for various reasons, so I've benched him, in favor of all sorts of people. Michael Pittman, Travis Henry, etc. And the vast majority of those times, I've been burned.

LT is declining, but I'm still not sure whether he's an 'Okay to bench' guy yet. The Chargers have only run something like 13 plays in the game, so LT has had 4 touches. What can he get going with 4 touches? And I'm not sure the next two weeks will help me on that issue. IF Mendenhall keeps starting, he gets Detroit and Cleveland. *I* could run on those guys, in a HoverRound. LT gets a bye next week, then Denver. Sheesh.

Of course, Mendy just broke a *tough* run on a catch, so maybe he IS someone to start on his own. Bleh. Maybe I'll trade LT and stop the pain.

I think one thing to keep in mind when talking about Tomlinson is the amount of wear and tear he's absorbed over the years. NAn had a very informative thread a couple of years ago regarding the effects of over-use (I'm sure it's easy enough to find using the Search function). Tomlinson went through six or seven straight years of 400+ touches without significant injury until last year, and it appears to be finally taking its toll.

I agree he is wearing down, but exactly how much is the question. His coaches certainly *think* he's worn down, and apparently they think he can no longer catch the ball. Two-Minute package just went in, and LT was on the sidelines.

Sproles gets lots of yards that way, because he catches underneath passes against prevent Ds. But LT is a damn good receiver, always has been. And even worn down, watching them both run, LT is still the better runner. I guess I don't see the point of 'saving' a player when you don't have things locked up. Losing games now by putting in the lesser back so you can 'save' LT for games down the road?

Meh. Time to go make dinner. I'll look at the score of my matchup, take heart over the 124-60 score, and that Aaron Rodgers probably can't make up those 64 points all by himself, and try to forget that points matter for tie breakers, and that I just enjoy crushing people into oblivion and that 144-60 would have been even sweeter

Wake up, hands down he is an "Okay to bench" guy. Especially against a tough D. He was great, but he is done. He may have 1 or 2 games this year...maybe, but many more stinkers than good ones.

LT actually looked pretty good when he had the 5 yard run. Norv Turner is an assclown. How can you run 3 times in an entire half!!!!!!!!!!!!! No rb can get into a rhythm like that

How many times have you seen AD with 10 runs for 28 yards then he rips off a couple of 15/20 yard runs. No way you can say LT is washed up based on this kind of game.

San Diego! Hottest women! Great food! Great Clubs! The Beach rules! Love hiking in Mission Hills, partying at Ocean Beach and cruising up to Encinitas and Cardiff for day trips. Love the people in San Diego! Huge Padres fan, they are my NL team! San Diego rocks!

But Chargers fans are the worst!

Go Steel!

Definitely disagree that it's that obvious. In my opinion, top two round picks are not bench material. In general I play the players, not the matchups. This game I had questions because of LT's injury, which is an exception.

Steeler friends are annoying too.

So what is the deal here? Is ###### LeBeau a genius or is Norv Turner just an idiot? I would say a little bit of both.

The Steelers are demolishing the Chargers tonight. Their o-line is having their way with the S.D def line.

This is a true beat down. But Ben just won me my week with that Td. I was starting to worry, because of the score, and because of the way their running game has looked tonight. I didn't think Ben would be throwing much the rest of the game.

i've been on record as saying that i've felt Mendenhall was the most complete back on the team...i know it's vs the Chargers weak ass defense, but the kid is showing it tonight.

I dropped Mendenhall for Choice last week in case MB could not go today. Then I heard about Parker and it was too late. I get the feeling that I will regret that move all season.

Man the Steelers can not catch a break.

You mind picking a focking side and staying there?!!!! I know you're still reeling about the Boys, Pimp but give it a rest. :)

Christ, if San Diego would act like it's the 4th quarter for the whole game they'd score 72 points a game.
