NewbieJr 541 Posted March 11, 2010 The rule applies the same to all students, regardless of sexual orientation. So how does this descriminate against gays? Holy sh!t!!! You're no better at this than you are at politics. The rule ONLY discriminates against gays, who by definition, date people of the same sex. Holy focking retard!
Chronic Husker 86 Posted March 11, 2010 One difference is that gheys are not protected under federal law. They have just as many rights under the first amendment as you or I do. Once those rights are infringed upon due to their sexuality (as in this case), it's pretty clear they are protected under federal law.
Recliner Pilot 61 Posted March 11, 2010 But the rule....dates must be of the opposite sex...isn't applied the same to all students. It's not applied the same to gay students. By definition, how could it? Yes it is. ANY student attending the prom must have a date of the opposite sex. It doesn't say "Gay students only", does it? FeelingMN 273 Posted March 11, 2010 One difference is that gheys are not protected under federal law. So gays have no protections under federal law? Kinda like they're seperate but equal? Wow....
NewbieJr 541 Posted March 11, 2010 Yes it is. ANY student attending the prom must have a date of the opposite sex. It doesn't say "Gay students only", does it? If a public building said "No wheelchairs allowed", would that be discriminating against the handicapped? According to your retard-logic, it also means able-bodied people can't bring wheelchairs either, so it's not discriminatory. Wow. Just wow.
surferskin 31 Posted March 11, 2010 If the school thought it wouldn't stand up in court, they could have just stuck to their guns and tried to let the prom go on without her. Please. Your assumptions about what the school woulda/coulda done isn't proof of shiat.
jerryskids 7,198 Posted March 11, 2010 So gays have no protections under federal law? Kinda like they're seperate but equal? Wow.... You asked how it is different than race. I answered, obviously unclearly, that gheys are not currently afforded the same civil rights protections as races. HTH
Chronic Husker 86 Posted March 11, 2010 Please. Your assumptions about what the school woulda/coulda done isn't proof of shiat. You're the one that said "Are you kidding me?" when I posted the link to the lawsuit referencing the first amendment. Guess we'll find out in court if the school has a legal leg to stand on regarding their actions in this case. First you posted "Who gives a shiat?" Now, I have no clue what point you're trying to make.
surferskin 31 Posted March 11, 2010 You asked how it is different than race. I answered, obviously unclearly, that gheys are not currently afforded the same civil rights protections as races. HTH Actually, phaggots have exactly the same rights as the rest of us. They just don't have new rules for us to accept their gheyness.

FeelingMN 273 Posted March 11, 2010 Yes it is. ANY student attending the prom must have a date of the opposite sex. It doesn't say "Gay students only", does it? The very definition of homo is same sex, so a rule that explicitly states opposite sex, necessarily precludes homosexual. You don't make rules that single out one group against another....or at least you shouldn't. So no, it doesn't say "Gay students only" it does imply, "Heterosexuals only"....which is fitting for a region that spent so much time and effort producing signs that read "Whites Only" and "Blacks Only". jets24 6 Posted March 11, 2010 If she did that, she would basically be accepting their discrimination. Also, she had no clue they'd cancel prom. The school board cancelled prom as a retaliation. They know the student body will blame the girl. Basically, you're saying it's OK to discriminate against gays and they should have to follow whatever anti-gay policy is set. You have no idea if that is true. I suspect they canceled it because it's not worth a legal fight and have everybodys taxes go up to pay for the attorneys to fight the ACLU. Recliner Pilot 61 Posted March 11, 2010 The very definition of homo is same sex Really? Main Entry: 1ho·mo Pronunciation: \ˈhō-(ˌ)mō\ Function: noun Inflected Form(s): plural homos Usage: often capitalized Etymology: New Latin Homin-, Homo, from Latin, human being — more at homage Date: 1591 : any of a genus (Homo) of hominids that includes modern humans (H. sapiens) and several extinct related species (as H. erectus and H. habilis) http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/homo
Chronic Husker 86 Posted March 11, 2010 You have no idea if that is true. I suspect they canceled it because it's not worth a legal fight and have everybodys taxes go up to pay for the attorneys to fight the ACLU. Well, there's now a lawsuit to force them to have the prom and allow the girl to come however she wishes. Only a guess, but I have a feeling the school will cave on this one, too (as in Alabama). If they had a legal leg to stand on, they'd have their day in court.

FeelingMN 273 Posted March 11, 2010 You asked how it is different than race. I answered, obviously unclearly, that gheys are not currently afforded the same civil rights protections as races. HTH Actually, that's kinda the point I was driving at. At one time blacks were not afforded equal rights as whites. Through the civil rights movement, this has been changed. But looking back at history, we're kinda appalled at how people were treated back then. This is not to say gays endure nearly as much as blacks did back in the day...they don't....not even close. But that doesn't mean there isn't a different interpretation to rules...laws...justice....for gays as for straights.
Chronic Husker 86 Posted March 11, 2010 The burden of proof is on you, sweetheart. I don't have to prove claims I didn't make. Sure. When they go to court, the school can make it's case. jgcrawfish 232 Posted March 11, 2010 And there's rules against weapons, drugs, porn, etc on school grounds. If someone was in violation of those rules, an entire school function wouldn't have been cancelled. They would have punished the violator. But in this instance, they have to cancel prom?....really?....because a lesbian wants to bend the rules? Whatever. The school knew what fight was coming and knew they had no leg to stand on...they knew they'd look bad for isolating the town lesbos because of their 'rule'....so they just cancelled the thing.....they took the easy way out....they ruined it for everyone....not some kid who's simply trying to express who she is. I applaud this little lesbo for standing up for herself....for her rights. Here's to you Mississippian Lesbian and the rights of everyone else not to have to see a chick dressed up like a guy bumping/grinding/kissing with her lesbian partner? quit fockin legislating for the exception rather than than rule. face facts, vast majority of american, and the world, is straight and if they clamor for rights protecting them from viewing something they find offensive, they have just as much right to that as the damned lesbian who wants the rest of the to bend to HER wishes. She can go fock herself, and so can you...
NewbieJr 541 Posted March 11, 2010 OH SH!T! NEWBIE IS REALLY MAD!!! Oh yeah. Livid! Grrrrrrrr You're just feeling foolish for throwing out such a juvenile insult. Chronic Husker 86 Posted March 11, 2010 Or until then, you can shut the fock up cuz as of now...I'm right. Wrong. The school already called off the prom in reaction to the ACLU getting involved. They knew they had no case. They have no case against the suit petitioning them to be forced to hold prom and allow the girl to bring whoever she wants. Just because a bunch of gay hating backwoods rednecks think like you do, it doesn't make you right. Again, you speak as if you know something about this, which you obviously don't. Unless you are on the School Board. Are you on the School Board? They may very well feel that they have a strong case but not worth the expense, embarrassment, etc. as it relates to the rest of the students. Why would any school want to spend money for a fight like this? Things have changed. We had a girl that quit from my company and then demanded $10K for a hostile work environment. The girl is batsh!t crazy and had no leg to stand on. You know what happened? Our insurance company immediately settled because it would have cost more to fight. That's our country in a nutshell these days. ACLU has unlimited funds and just love fighting these types of fights. Can't blame the school for not fighting and cancelling the prom. It's just not worth it anymore.

She can go fock herself, and so can you... Why are you bringing up legislation? No one is advocating legislating for the exception. It seems to me you're arguing in my favor. Why the fock is the school going out of its way to establish rules inhibiting homosexuality....in an effort to preserve safety and well being? Seems unneccesary to me, wouldn't you agree? Especially under those pretenses....safety and well being....psshhh. And I find some drunk 17 year old who can't handle his liquor well, so he throws up all over my date's dress because he drank too much of daddy's schnaaps. I find that offensive....are you advocating we go down that road? That we make up rules against anything that anyone might find offensive? Fact is there are lesbians in the world....deal with it....you're not going to make them go away by making stupid rules against them....you're not going to make the world a better place by covering your children's eyes to reality. But that's the vibe I get from these fockers. Make the rules to mask reality....there's no such thing as lesbians....there's no such thing as anyone different....there's just good God fearing...straight....folk. Don't question anything.....just accept whatever we tell you is right.
