Quarterbacks going a little faster this year than usual.

Love the Grant pick. Getting the bell cow in a good offense like Green Bay in the middle of the third is a steal. Ditto for Benson. Good values there...

I don't think Grant is going to be the bell cow this year, I think we see a RBBC emerge at the very least, coupe this with a pass-oriented attack, and his #'s will be diminished from last years totals....

RBBC with whom?

Time wasn't the factor for not being able to get the ball to Jennings last year. It was the coverage. They jumped the quick slant (Jenning's main impact play), and had the safety over the top. He was doubled and even tripled to take that play away. It worked, and it frustrated the hell out of Jennings. Teams will have to account for another emerging star in the middle this year and that should open things up for Jennings more. The other great receiver made out like a bandit last year.

Stark's first and foremost, but also Jackson.....what i see likely unfolding is the gradual marginalization of Grant over time. JMHO of course, but I do tend to enjoy success with such prognostications..... :bandana:

i felt romo was the best pick at the time......was hoping jennings, colston, grant or benson would fall to me...but not in this mock.......and i think the rice pick was fine....we all know the redneck gunner is coming back and rice is a new wr stud.......love him.........

I wanted Grant when I took Mathews in the second. I feel he has a big year. He was sneaky big last year and it was considered an off year. I just had to lay down my green and golds for a second and not get carried away. I knew I wasn't going to grab a receiver from SD so mathews fell in place. My luck was, that if I took Grant in 2, Jennings was going to fall in my lap in 3.

I have VJax as my #7 WR in this scoring format (after AJ, Fitz, Wayne, Moss, Calvin and Marshall). He's continued to improve each of the last 4 years, is a tall target for the redzone and on a good offense. With the rookie RB I think SDC continues to increase it's passing offense compared to running.

The obvious issue is the threatened hold out over the contract, so there's some real risk. And even if he doesn't hold out into the season it will probably translate to a slow start.

However, after deviating from my original RB-WR-WR-RB plan I felt I really needed to take the risk on VJax and go WR. If I had gone RB for example I was worried what myh WR1 would look like.

I don't have it in me to make selections like VJax. It is a problem to a fault, yearly for me. I am waaay too conservative. This tendancy keeps me always in the mix, but sometimes one or two moves away from the title game. The contract was only part of the concern. Where is he with his legal battles? He is huge when he plays, and he has always answered the bell. I just felt he was dealing with more than just a contract. i thought he had Goodell troubles???

Yeah, there was speculation of a suspension a few months ago but I haven't heard anything since. Not sure if it's just being overshadowed by the contract issue or if it indeed went away.

This could make or break my team, but in this format you can minimize the the risk with smart picks later on.

Ryan Grant - not sure I agree with RLLD. Grant had a quietly solid year in 2009 and only got better when he got a few of his lineman back. Now with Bulaga in the mix and the entire offense coming into its own, I like him 10X more than i did at this time last year. I don't see anyone else on the depth chart pushing him much for carries. Maybe enough to keep him fresh but not enough to diminish his fantasy value.

Vincent Jackson - If the surrounding issues work themselves out he is the perfect WR in this scoring format. Has never caught 70 balls but that doesnt matter. He gets the yards and scores.

Marques Colston

Considered DeSean Jackson, but had to ding him a bit with his QB change. Colston will be a bit inconsistent, but he'll get his in NO.

Also, it wasn't the reason why I drafted him, but his inconsistency won't be a huge issue in our No Hassle League.

And for that JScott jackass ( :shocking: ), I'm not online consistently before noon eastern. If we end the day close to my pick, I'll be sending a list to Fumble.

Ruh-Roh

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson did not sign his restricted free-agent tender before the June 15 deadline, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune, and is reportedly prepared for a lengthy holdout from the team. Jackson would have been under contract for one year at over $3.2 million had he signed the tender, but now his offer can be reduced to 110 percent of his 2009 salary, which is $583,000. Sources say that Jackson is prepared not to play with the Chargers until Week 10, when he must show up and finish the season in order to earn an accrued season under the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Knew this going into the pick. I still feel something gets worked out. SD is in the hunt for a championship and has the pieces, VJax being one of them.

White Wonder

1.04- RB Chris Johnson, Ten.

2.09- WR Roddy White, Atl.

3.04- RB Ryan Grant, GB

I like this start, and I'm the one who took Rice and Mathews over Chris Johnson and Grant. :shocking:

Curious... for those that selected after me in round 3, would you have picked VJax if available instead of who you drafted?

No-

Because of his situation/risk or just that WR wasn't in your draft plan for the 3rd round

I simply had him ranked a bit lower than two other players, but his contractual issues have pushed him down my spreadsheet.......slightly

prior 4 picks killed me as those were players I was considering...always sign of a solid group of drafters.

per our 'secret' ADP site nice value with Brady as I see him improving on last year's numbers. Went with the qb/wr combo and think will work out nice actually.
