Cruzer 1,996 Posted February 18, 2011 Are you mystified why Vlad signed? I am. For the O's this is a no brainer, steal. Vlad is coming off a great year here in Texas, no doubt. But he earned 5 million last year. Who were the O's bidding against? Not sure $8 mil is a steal for a dh.

Not sure $8 mil is a steal for a dh. he is not a steal. But he should fit in well there. Same BA less Rbi and 25-30 homers. They are overpaying because they are the O's and they have to. Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted August 24, 2011 I think that with the additions of Mark reynolds, Vlad and Derrick lee, plus Brian roberts coming back healthy and having a manager they can believe in will push them very close to .500 and they will be a surprise team. They are in desperate need of some of their Staff to step up or for some of their youngsters to take a few steps forward but they are moving in the direction that leads me to believe them to be a much improved team. Sure seems like the same old Orioles.
kilroy69 1,268 Posted August 25, 2011 Sure seems like the same old Orioles. Brian Roberts and lee were not healthy and the staff, while good in the early part of the season just fell apart. I still think that buck will turn it around there.
edjr 6,898 Posted August 25, 2011 Worst contract since the Rangers gave Chan Ho Suck 5 years and 65 million. In my opinion that is the worst. There are some other real doozies too. Carl Crawford, Boston Red Sox - 7 years, 142 million Carl Pavano, New York Yankees — 4 years, $39.95 million Carlos Silva, Seattle Mariners — 4 years, $48 million Gary Matthews Jr, Los Angeles Angels — 5 years, $50 million Vernon Wells, Toronto Blue Jays — 7 years, $126 million Barry Zito, San Francisco Giants — 7 years, $126 million Andruw Jones, Los Angeles Dodgers — 2 years, $36.2 million Jason Schmidt, Los Angeles Dodgers — 3 years, $47 million Mike Hampton, Colorado Rockies — 8 years, $121 million Darren Dreifort, Los Angeles Dodgers — 5 years, $55 million Mo Vaughn, Angels 6 years 80 million Albert Belle, 5 years 65 million FIXED! edjr 6,898 Posted August 25, 2011 Re: Crafword signing A lot people complained about JD Drew making a tick over 14 million. Crawford is making 20 million? Too much, sorry. I know it's not my money, but it's too much. They are paying Gonzalez and Crawford 20 million a year each? I wonder how Youk and Pedroia are going to be liking them apples. I realize Papi and Drew are off the books next year, but their salary this year is going to be 200 million after they ink Gonzalez after opening day to avoid even more luxury tax. The glove says they are expecting crawford to hit 3rd? I guess for 20 million he has to, but that's not where he should hit in this lineup I am glad they are being active, but this contract is worse than the Werth contract. Yankees Jr. also, Red Sox single game tickets go on sale this Saturday, December 11th. No surprise there.
edjr 6,898 Posted August 25, 2011 Yes you guys are right Crawford makes them worse.
edjr 6,898 Posted August 25, 2011 Crawford is THE TOP 5 tool player in league filled with only a handful of players that can claim that. Taking him at his homerun numbers is shortsighted at best.

Cruzer 1,996 Posted August 29, 2011 I was glad as hell to see Boston leave town - they beat the hell out of my Rangers. Makes me sick to see Adrian Gonzo tearing it up, and us.
