Good music thread

Fock your radiohead, muse, modest mouse, etc...

80's rock destroys all of this indie crap.

Give Demartini a Jackson guitar, tune it down to a D, add a Marshall and you get amazing music.

Why isn't there music like this anymore?

Hard driving rock where the musicians actually have talent and just sing about having a good time, not how focked up the world is?

I think the AIDS scare in the 80's really had a negative impact on all gay performers. Rip Taylor, Charles Nelson Reilly, Ratt....the list goes on and on.

Well at least remote controller knows music.....my guess is he can play an instrument....more than the 2 cord 80s crapola.

2 cord crapola?

Lemme name off a few guitarists that were big in the 80's with solo links.. (some of the videos are from later because of the better quality)

George Lynch

Vito Bratta (White Lion)

Kirk Hammett

Slash

Jake E. Lee (Randy Rhoads's replacement)

When asked about guitar players, Hendrix pimped Kath and Gibbons. (high praise)

When discussing guitarists, Zappa deserves a mention.

No question that Frank was damn good.

Also, good link. I've never seen that before.

His son isn't too shabby, either.

Speaking of guitar players, I don't know if this actually happened or if it's urban legend, but I heard multiple times that Eddie Van Halen was interviewed many years ago and asked who the greatest guitarists are, and he mentioned Prince as being one of the best.

Lots of guitar icons consider Prince to be a guitar genius. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifp_SVrlurY

Did you know, or have I ever mentioned who Eddie's first choice was to replace David Lee Roth. I heard him discuss it once. His first chice was Patty Smythe, and she damn near took the job. She would have but she had a 2 year old at the time. She later mentions that she regretted not atleast giving it a go, and making it work as a mom in rock.
