*** OFFICIAL FFToday NFL Mock Draft ***

Recommended Posts

Ya but imagine the fun if Washington did take Ingram at 10, I just find the mere thought of it hilarious. I know Shannahan traditionally takes his RB's late and Ingram is a power guy not a speed/cut guy but just the thought of Shannahan destroying the value of the top rookie RB to the FF world is too ironic to overlook.

I really think the combo of C.Johnson as the deep threat and J.Jones as the possesion guy could be extremely dynamic. Wouldnt that offense really start to terrify people and for the casual fans of the NFL offense is what excites them so you would get some sellouts and nice energy at the home games. Just a pipe dream?

You roll the safety to C.Johnson and if you blitz, theres Jones or Best on a hot route/safety valve to burn you. Who do you cover, how is this not a nightmare for 95% of the teams in the league.

We already know this management is better than Millen, although your probably right they cant afford to take a WR in the first and miss for the next decade without alienating the entire fan base.

it doesnt make any sense what-so-ever

burleson is a fine complement to CJ and that offense can be scary enough if Stafford stays healthy. Julio Jones might be great but hes not going to be what fills the stands in Detroit. Wins would do just as well and this team needs to keep building the proper way.

they simply have much bigger needs.

15. Miami Dolphins – Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama

Expected to be the strength of the Dolphins offense, the running game was extremely disappointing behind Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Both are free agents and past their prime, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both gone and Ingram or Mikel LeShoure as the new face of the Miami backfield.

Currently for Miami...

Ryan Mallet, QB, Arkansas - 1

Nate Solder, OT, Colorado - 1

Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama - 1

95 percent of the mocks I've seen have them taking Ingram. For that reason alone, I'll go a different direction :

Mike Pouncey, C, Florida

No free agency so they can't sign DWilliams

Dolphins take Ingram X2

I don't really see Mallett still being on the board when Miami picks (I think I see Minn taking Mallett) and Ingram is who I always thought Miami would take all along. That seems like a no brainer.

However, with Mallett still being on the table I'll make this a 2vs2 tie and pick Mallett for Miami.

Pennington is done and Henne showed nothing last year even after they brought in Marshall... I think Miami would be thinking Mallett is their next Marino. Pocket passer with big arm. Also, it looks like there will be allot of decent RB's late in this draft for them. But, I think Miami would do something in free agency when it becomes avaiable. (Even if it means having R. Brown and or Ricky again or somebody else)

Could be typical pre-draft BS, but there are rumors that Ingram has a bum knee and has been dropped from two teams who need a RB boards.

Really? At this point I'd be shocked if Ryan Mallett gets drafted in the 1st round. I haven't seen many draft lists that have him as a top 30 player in this draft, and I think almost everyone has Jake Locker ranked well ahead of Ryan Mallett. It also looks like Andy Dalton could go ahead of Mallett also. I see Mallett going in the early 2nd round to Cincinnati or Tennessee (assuming Arizona takes a QB in the first round). But who knows, it's all just speculation right now. It only takes one team to really like him for him to go a lot higher (see Tim Tebow and Denver).

16. Jacksonville Jaguars on the clock...

I think Jax could go so many different ways. I bet they would be hoping for WR to fall like Jones.

But, I'll say its really between JJ Watt or Kerrigan. (Possibly Jordan)

I'll go with Kerrigan as he could be the DE or LB. I think he'll be a good DE though.

I think Jacksonville definitely takes a DE. It's just a matter of which one? Ryan Kerrigan is probably the safest pick but offers the lowest ceiling. JJ Watt and Cameron Jordan offer a higher ceiling, but they both are more suited to the 3-4 defense, which I don't think fits Jacksonvilles personnel. Muhammed Wilkerson is probably in the mix too, and offers high end potential. Umm....I'm going to say Muhammed Wilkerson is the pick, who I like better than all of the DE's listed above. But I could see it being any of them really.

Jacksonville - I'm going defense

Brandon Harris - CB - Miami

The Jaguars get a good quick CB in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft. He adds a lot of depth in this 2011 NFL Mock Draft and he can come in and start right away as a Nickel or Dime CB.

Hmmm - Well, I don't think anybody really knows right now. Guy's are going up and down like crazy it seems to me this year.

I hear Locker to Wash, Minn, or Seattle - Then I hear Locker 2nd round material. Guy's are being rated all over the board.

I've heard more 2nd round material for Locker then I have for Mallett though. I think unless Seattle takes Locker he will be a 2nd rounder. And I have not really heard that much about Locker passing Mallett myself? Maybe I'm wrong? Mallett to me, has a better shot to get taken earlier.

Mallett has shown off his arm from everything I've read. And the character concerns seem to have vanished latley. They might BOTH be 2nd rounders, but if Seattle passes on Mallett I'd be pissed.

I rank Mallett right up there with Newton myself.

Doesn't it seem like the Jags are working on the Dline every draft? I could be wrong - - so I went with a CB :dunno:

2010

their first 4 picks were DE, DT, DE, DE

2009 they went defense with their 1st round also

Mallett obviously has a cannon arm and is the perfect size for a QB. BUT he tends to force throws and make a lot of bed decisions. He didn't deal well with a heavy pash rush, and he isn't very good throwing the ball out of the pocket. Just a lot of questions about his intangibles. Again, I'd be really suprised if he goes in the first round. I think he is more of an early to mid 2nd round pick, similar to Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder.

I think Locker would be a good pick for Seattle in the first round. But like you said, anything can happen. Teams shock us every year at the draft. I can't say I'd be thrilled if my team took a QB in the first round this year. Without Andrew Luck in this draft, no one stands out.

I'm not a big Locker fan myself..... I've seen him enough. Intangibles are over blown in my view. Sure, he would have a great combine. He's an athletic guy. But, that doesn't mean nothing for accuracy. He seems more of a journeyman QB at best.

And from my scouting I can't stand Ponder. His stats don't add up either. I don't know allot about Dalton.

Mallett to me has the accuracy and big arm. Good Deep ball, which I think helps QB's in the pro's. (Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Rodgers, Etc.)

From what I saw, I think he can be elusive enough in the pocket and seems to have a good/fast release.

He may force some throws - But, his INT's were not that bad at all for as many pass attempts. Plus he was always having to throw and make the plays.

He could be a bust - But I think he gives you a shot at possibly becoming a "stud" QB like that of Rivers/Rodgers type.

The biggest thing I fear about Mallett is his ability to win the big games. Seems like his worst games were in the big games. But, it is a team game.

I also don't see much of the problems in the character concern areas. (One of the big reason's he was even dropping)

Like you said, we'll see what happens. It only takes one team to like him. He could very well drop. Hope he does for the Hawks sake.

16. Jacksonville Jaguars – Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue

While it’s always difficult to predict what GM Gene Smith will do in the draft, he’s been very forthcoming about his intent to focus on improving talent on the defensive side of the ball. A shutdown corner is one possibility, but continuing to address the pass rush is another. With a clean record off the field and a tireless motor on it, Kerrigan is a nice fit for Smith, who values character highly.

Current votes for JAX...

Muhammad Wilkerson, DE, Temple - 1

Brandon Harris - CB - Miami - 1

Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal - 2

Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue - 2

So now the Patriots are up. I see three primary possibilities here: Cameron Jordan, JJ Watt, or Muhammad Wilkerson. There is also the chance that they would reach just a bit for Cameron Heyward. Maybe they go for an OT like Carimi or Sherrod, but it isn't really Belichick's M.O. to draft OL in the first round (I believe Logan Mankins was the only OL he has selected in the first round, and that was at pick 32).

So my pick is going to be Cameron Jordan. I like Watt but I think he is better suited for a one-gap system. Muhammad Wilkerson has perfect size for the Pats' system but I'm a little wary of him coming out of the MAC. Jordan might be a bit of a tweener (a little too small to play DE for them, a little too big to be OLB), but I think Belichick will find a way to use him.

Pats take Locker

They will trade him at some point IMO This year or in years to come. He'll work on his accuracy issues and be sought after ala matt cassell

Can't see them taking a QB in the first with the idea to trade him. Cassell was a 6th or 7th rounder...big difference. Wouldn't be surprised (in the real draft) to see them trade the pick to a QB desperate team, though.

I'll make it 3 on Cameron Jordan. Good example of him fitting their system very well.

San Diego is up and I will say Muhammed Wilkerson again. He's a guy that could really help a team that struggled up front to create pressure on the QB.

Muhammed Wilkerson X2, agreed he has the potential to be a monster. and I think they will see the diamond in the rough that Stewburtx8 clearly does!!

I'll say JJ Watt to San Diego.

I'll say JJ Watt also for SD... Surprised he's still around this long.

I could see NE taking Watt last pick.

I too think that JJ Watts will be gone by this pick and will fit well into the 3-4 defense of the Chargers.

JJ Watts X 3

18. San Diego Chargers – J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin

Watt has the prototypical build for a five-technique DE and rose up draft boards after showing some surprising ability to penetrate as a pass rusher.

On the clock: New York Giants...

I'm gonna go with DT Corey Luiget for the Giants. So we have

Pouncey - 1

Sherrod - 1

Luiget - 1

Although the Giants have not picked an Offensive Lineman since Luke Petitgout in 1999, they were killed by injuries at the center position last year. Center Shaun O'Hara recently had more surgery to repair his ankle and achilles from his Lisfranc injury.

Mike Pouncey because he can also play guard if O'Hara is recovered.

For NYG:

Pouncey - 2

Sherrod - 1

Luiget - 1

Solder - 1

I actually personally think Gabe is the next best Oline guy. Solder might be the highest ranked, but I'll vote for Pouncey cause I think he's got the highest rep due to his brother. I think he'll go higher then he should so I could see this pick.

Probably fits the bill for the Giants too as he could play Center.
