This is one reason people hate cyclists. If you ride on the road, obey the traffic rules. If nothing else, it will help motorist adapt to the thought of responsible cyclists on the road.

Is gas still expensive?

zmanzzzz also lives in Missoula Montana, where this kind of conduct is SOP for cyclists, then they routinely go out en masse and block traffic to protest how poorly motorists treat them. Drive in Missoula for a year and you'll be ready to run down every cyclist you encounter for the rest of your life.

I know - when I have to travel up state/NJ via the Palisades I always fill up in the last exit (south) before the GWB and it is usually at least 30 to 40 cents cheaper per gallon then NY. I plan my tank around NJ fill ups.

I am a cyclist, and try to follow the law most of the time. Admittedly, I roll a stop sign now and then, though this is legal in some places…Critical mass rides just seem to p!ss people off, never accomplishing their stated purpose of cycling awareness/changes in infrastructure.

The other side of the equation is motorists, who by and large do not know the law as it applies to cyclists. Most seem to think bikes should ride in the gutter or the sidewalk, and that cars always have the right of way. I've been clipped a couple of times by people turning into me, and almost been the recipient of numerous "door prizes" because traffic allow no space cushion.

Don't know which group behaves worse.

Cyclists are OK, so long as they don't pretend that everyone else, including pedestrians, should yield to them....

Agreed. It's not that hard to coexist, if everybody knows and follows the laws. <--not while driving/cycling
