MNF Gets Political

Recommended Posts

This part was interesting. So Hank was on Fox and Friends thinking he was going to talk about his fathers new CD (which since he's dead was a culmination CD of classics or something). However instead they started asking him his opinions on the GOP race. Classic media types trying to get a "gotcha moment" to generate buzz. And everyone fell for it.

Still didn't watch the video, eh?

Yeah, asking him who he likes in the GOP primary was such a loaded question, there was practically no was he couldn't resort to a Hitler analogy. Damn sneaky media types.

I didn't watch your video, but I googled it and watched the clip last week when the non story broke. Not sure you're point. :dunno:

I never said the analogy was the best, but was it really all that awful? He made an analogy saying that Boener and Obama are polar opposites. Big whoop dee doo.

Fake outrage.

Watch the whole interview that Med posted. Your responses make it seem like you didn't watch it. No one twisted anything. They didn't even ask him about that golf game. It wasn't an innocent analogy gone bad. All they asked him was who he liked in the GOP race and he proceeded to make an ass of himself much to the shock of the Fox people.

Then he proceeded to call Obama the enemy and at the end of the interview the Gretchen chick said she thought he just compared the president to the most hated man in history and he agreed that he did. There was nothing left to the imagination. Watch the actual interview before you continue to make an ass of yourself.

It wasn't an innocent analogy gone bad.

If it was an innocent analogy, then WHY did it go bad? Ask yourself that.

It went bad because of the reaction of the PC crowd to the innocent analogy. The word 'Hitler' was used so everybody freaked out and spun the statement every which way and got their panties in a wad....over nothing.

Fake outrage.

The most hated man is history is a competition between Stalin, Al Sharpton, and the team of writers who are responsible for the final season of LOST.

Context. The topic was politics and the GOP nomination. Obama is the enemy in that context.

When the Eagles play the Cowboys and you say: "I hope we KILL the Cowboys, they are the enemy". You don't mean to actually take a gun and shoot them. In context, you mean you want the Eagles to beat them soundly in the football game.

Please stop with the dramatics and fake outrage.

You're right, I assumed you said "innocent analogy" as I gave you to much credit. I assumed that you were not stupid enough to actually think the statement was a big deal. I overestimated you're intellect. Duely noted.

He's basing everything he says on some preconceived notion and he won't even take a minute and a half out of his life to watch what happened. :dunno: I don't know how anyone could watch that and not 1. laugh, 2. be a little shocked that he could make that huge of an ass of himself on national TV, or 3. not understand exactly what Hank Jr was saying.

Well sure. Hank should have been smart enough to know that people in today's world will freak out over the mere mention of the word Hitler. Even if the analogy made sense in the proper context.

You watched the whole interview? Or you watched a clip of his one sentence about Hitler? Because if you watched the whole interview then you really are a lot dumber than I ever thought. The guy made a total ass of himself. If you ever do feel like watching it, I advise you to blow it up to full screen so you can watch the looks on the faces of the newscasters looking like they are going to shiit their pants. Good stuff.

You're not following me. The looks on their faces, the fake outrage by you, the sensationalism of the story, and the over sensitivity of ESPN (in response to the non story) is 10X more stupid than anything Hank Williams Jr. said.

Hank was just saying what the vast majority of the country is thinking. 'Ole Hank is a hero.

I have no outrage. I thought it was funny a shiit. And if I were an executive at ESPN, I wouldn't want to put that dumbass's face on my product if I had seen that. :dunno:

The transcript of the interview:

GRETCHEN CARLSON (co-host): I'd love to pick your brain about politics.

HANK WILLIAMS JR.: Yep.

CARLSON: All right. So, I'll start with an easy question, who do you like in the GOP race?

WILLIAMS: Nobody.

STEVE DOOCY (co-host): Nobody?

WILLIAMS: You remember the -- you remember the golf game they had, ladies and gentlemen?

DOOCY: Yeah?

WILLIAMS: Remember the golf game?

DOOCY: Boehner?

WILLIAMS: That was one of the biggest political mistakes ever.

CO-HOSTS: Why?

WILLIAMS: That turned a lot of people off. You know, watching, you know, it just didn't go over.

CARLSON: You mean when John Boehner played golf with President Obama?

WILLIAMS: Oh, yeah! Yeah. And Biden and Kasich, yeah. Uh-huh.

CARLSON: What did you not like about it? It seems to be a really pivotal moment for you.

WILLIAMS: Come on. Come on. It would be like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu, OK?

CARLSON: OK.

WILLIAMS: Not hardly. In the country this shape is in, the shape this country's in, I mean, no, I don't think so.

BRIAN KILMEADE (co-host): Yeah, I don't understand that analogy, actually.

DOOCY: Well, it's -- it's out there.

WILLIAMS: Well, I'm glad you don't, brother, because a lot of people do. You know, they're the enemy. They're the enemy.

KILMEADE: Who's the enemy?

WILLIAMS: Obama! And Biden! Are you kidding? The Three Stooges.

DOOCY: That's only two.

[...]

CARLSON: I just want to say that we disavow any of those comments or analogies that he's made, at least I'm going to say that, disavow the analogy between Hitler and the president.

Kindly point to the gotcha moment before Hank Williams began spewing.

TIA

Let me clear all this up so you libs can find something else to be outraged about.

The left claims these right-wing country redneck types are akin to skinheads, the KKK, etc...

So, if you are to be believed and apply that to Hank's analogy, Hank would clearly be on the side of Hitler. Thus, Hank called Boehner Hitler and Obama Netanyahu (the enemy).

Carry on.

This isn't about outrage...it's about Hank Williams opening his mouth and shoving his cowboy boot in it up to the pull tabs. I couldn't care less about what Hank Williams has to say about Hitler or Baby Jeebus but if Ole Hank is gonna play with the media, he better understand sensitivities.

No outrage here, fake or otherwise. As I said in my first post, Hank had every right to say what he said, and ESPN had every right to decide what is right for their brand and consequently sh!t-can his ass. Maybe they overreacted, but that ain't my call, and I don't really GAF. The whole thing is a non-issue to me. Most of the fake outrage I've seen has been from those decrying ESPN's actions. I do take issue with you're calling it a "gotcha" deal however, when all they did was ask him a perfectly benign political question and he started babbling like a lunatic.

there were several disturbing parts about that golf match to which hank is referring his embarrassment for the united states:

1) nobody gives a frog's f**k about it at all

2) seeing those 4 idiots in golf shorts 3) on television should have included a "not safe for some viewers" warning. i don't want to see my "leadership" (loosely used term) in shorts.

4) we didn't even get to see them all swing. they claim boehner's pretty good, like a 5 or 6, so that swing should be pretty high level. yet, i doubt it.

5) they were sitting around a table comparing score cards or something with NO beer. that's not even close to the way golf works.

6) we've seen the big zero golf already, so we know that whatever the fake outcome was, it wasn't legit.
