Doozer 0 Posted October 17, 2011 DAVID ###### GARRARD. Remember that 2007 playoff game jags vs pats... Dude is a good QB but stuck in JAX. A team so dysfunctional they cut their only shot at a .500 team to start a rookie that has showed absolutely nothing.
MTSkiBum 1,629 Posted October 17, 2011 Dennis dixon and matt flynn are 2 long shot possibilities. Too bad sage rosenfels didn't wait one more week.
kutulu 1,724 Posted October 17, 2011 Making it harder for the Raiders is they already are without next year's 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks. Al was crazy...crazy like a fox...a crazy, rabid fox.
Skinny_Bastard 159 Posted October 17, 2011 Orton Palmer's arm strength isn't a good fit for their vertical game. Orton is a better down field passer.
kutulu 1,724 Posted October 17, 2011 It would be a surprise to see Mike Brown change his mind after all this time...dude seems pretty stubborn. Also seems odd for Denver to trade Orton within their division...especially to the hated Raiders. Not sure about Garrard...seems like he would make sense...but I question his passion. Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted October 17, 2011 I'd say Garrard if he wants to play football anymore. I think someone else called him already this season and he passed. He'd be a good fit in Oakland's offense though, I think. No to Orton, and I think Carson Palmer would be a huge mistake. I don't think he's very good anymore. Jarvis Basnight 119 Posted October 17, 2011 It's not going to be Garrard I guess... According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, free agent David Garrard needs "immediate" surgery on a herniated disc in his troublesome back.In the words of Glazer, "take one name out of (the) search for (a quarterback)." The announcement goes a long way toward explaining Garrard's recent coyness about a possible return. It also puts extra pressure on the Raiders to make a trade to upgrade Kyle Boller ahead of Tuesday's deadline, as Garrard was easily the most attractive free agent candidate. Garrard should no longer be expected to take the field this season, making it quite possible he's played his final NFL down at the age of 33.
Ray_T 798 Posted October 17, 2011 DAVID ###### GARRARD. Remember that 2007 playoff game jags vs pats... Dude is a good QB but stuck in JAX. A team so dysfunctional they cut their only shot at a .500 team to start a rookie that has showed absolutely nothing. I agree. He never had any high end talent to work with, and a coach who is borderline nuts. He's a pretty good game manager from what I've seen. While I'm not sure he will win games by himself, he wont usually lose them for you, and that's all you really need in a run based offense like Oakland has. and the price is right. They dont give up draft picks or players, all they give up is some cash. They may have to sign him to a 2 year deal to get it done, but I dont see that as a huge problem. With Orton, they will have to give up a player or a draft pick, and they'd still be on the hook for likely more cash than they'd pay for Garrard. I do think Orton is the better QB, but to ask the division rival Broncos to send him your direction is probably a tall order. This is why I think this is the option they will consider. Arsenal 3 Posted October 17, 2011 I'd say Flynn is about the best available - not sure they would be willing to pay the price though.

fantasy master 0 Posted October 17, 2011 If I were the Raiders I would give up and lose the rest of the year cuz the Patriots yet again own their #1 pick!
Bobbyn2022 53 Posted October 17, 2011 Umm no they don't they own their 2nd...
slestack11 0 Posted October 18, 2011 Because Garrard has back problems, NFL Network just made a comment that the Vikings may trade McNabb to the Raiders since Ponder is likely their starter going forward. They also mentioned that Trent Green is under consideration. If those two don't work out, then I suppose it will have to be Jeff George.
BobSanders_33 127 Posted October 18, 2011 Flynn would be the best fit but I doubt the Packers would give him up for less than a Kolb type deal. The Raiders don't have the picks to pay. The Raiders finally had a team to make a run but there isn't anything at QB on the market and I doubt they will want to overpay the Broncos and Orton. I think they will lose some games and then see what they have in Pryor at the end of the year.
Doozer 0 Posted October 18, 2011 Brian Hoyer anyone? Raiders have no picks though, that's the problem. Worse comes to worse they can start... Shane Lechler. Or just start McFadden at QB.
steelers2101 7 Posted October 18, 2011 I'd want to give Pryor a long look. He can make plays with his feet, has an arm I presume, and they could lean on the run a bit and have him make nothing more than easy passes with the occasional bomb. That said, Palmer would be their best option, imo.
