dreen626 17 Posted October 8, 2012 Interesting Brees has a chance to break this record vs the same team that didn't want him and against the QB they traded for to replace him. Should be a good game.

Big Blue 06 196 Posted October 8, 2012 I love having avoided Ryan Matthews in all 7 of my drafts. Norv Turner is a moron and Matthews was incredibly overhyped anyway.
ian Potter 9 Posted October 8, 2012 3 and out...glad Norv is sitting one of his best weapons!
dreen626 17 Posted October 8, 2012 Would be funny if Brees throws it to Sproles (ex-Charger) to break the record.
Bruce Benedict 0 Posted October 8, 2012 Chargers never released him And they never drafted Rivers.

Rushing 222 attempts for 1091 and 50 receptions for 455 along with 6 Td's. Hard to say the guy was over hyped as a second round pick when he was supposed to be used more heavily. Hard to say the guy was over hyped as a second round pick when he was supposed to be used more heavily. If you were able to grab him as a second rounder in your league, I agree with you. In at least 5 of my 7 leagues, he was going in the mid to late first based on those numbers and this year's potential. IMHO, that's too high.
WR Guru 31 Posted October 8, 2012 How again is Norv Turner still a head coach in the NFL? With V-Jax gone, Gates at the end of his career and Meacham not working out, this San Diego team is not overly blessed with playmakers. Yet there Mathews stands on the sideline while this scrub Battle plays. Incredible.
saut 7 Posted October 8, 2012 Unbelievable. And Ronnie Brown in on third down. Mathews seriously must have had a threesome with Turner's wife and daughter
Matt Mueller 148 Posted October 8, 2012 This might be besides the point but does anyone have a clip of the fumble that somehow landed Matthews in this dog house? None of this makes sense to me. Bradshaw fumbled today on the first play. Coughlin didn't blink.

I dont, but I do know Norv didnt even challenge, when the ground caused the fumble
WR Guru 31 Posted October 8, 2012 It almost stretches believability, but the sad thing is that they'll probably get away with it again considering this New Orleans defense blows.

Bradshaw fumbled today on the first play. Coughlin didn't blink. And yet Rivers threw for what, 100 INTs last year? He still plays. There's making a point and then there's hurting your entire team and organization over ONE fumble. Ridunkulous.

This worries me as well. If they get a W he won't be forced to change or justify his insane reasoning for sitting Matthews.

RaiderHaters Revenge 4,543 Posted October 8, 2012 ..and less games in a season. thats not really relevant I dont think, a game is a game, both of the streaks carried over 4 seasons
Bruce Benedict 0 Posted October 8, 2012 It's great and all, but Unitas did it when QB's threw for 2500 yards and 20td's I give Unitas's place in the record books the nod for now. Of course, Unitas's run ended here. Brees may well keep tossing till he hits a hundred. Might bear reevaluating for awesomeness down the road.
tanatastic 2,062 Posted October 8, 2012 Rushing 222 attempts for 1091 and 50 receptions for 455 along with 6 Td's. Hard to say the guy was over hyped as a second round pick when he was supposed to be used more heavily. People are going to ride these 222 carries for years sticking up for Mathews potential. Sure I'll admit I said he sucked, then looked at these stats and backtracked an admitted he had talent. But it's not like someone can't have a good year and then still suck! Mathews isn't very good. He has talent and can run the ball but Durability, fumbling, performance all are part of that equally. Did he have some good games and show potential? Yes def. could I be wrong? Absolutely. DaDanimal 2 Posted October 8, 2012 I need Gates and Battle to not get outscored by 6 pts by Floyd.....I feel like I'm screwed.

Quickolas1 80 Posted October 8, 2012 Mathews isn't very good. Durability, fumbling, performance all are part of that equally. Did he have some good games and show potential? Yes def. could I be wrong? Absolutely. He has all the skills you look for in a franchise back. Speed, agility, vision, power, can catch and block. He lost one fumble and that means he sucks? Anyway, with your criteria of fumbling/durability being 66%, you must HATE Jamaal Charles.
Bruce Benedict 0 Posted October 8, 2012 I think Mathews called the Norv a ###### sucker. Then Norv had one of those, "you will never play another snap for me for as long as I coach this team" moments, and now he's too locked into the pissing contest to back down from it. Law 251 Posted October 8, 2012 Shameful how the whole world can see the difference between Matthews and the likes of Battle and Brown, but not Norv. The results on the field even see it. But not Norv.
RaiderHaters Revenge 4,543 Posted October 8, 2012 3 touches 35 yards, poor guy breaks off 3 good runs, and is looking to the sidelines expecting to be pulled. Chargers coaching staff really needs to build his confidence
shorepatrol 1,871 Posted October 8, 2012 I guess they are waiting to unleash sproles in the second half? Dude isn't seeing the field much.
bjsteel 34 Posted October 8, 2012 Gates is border line droppable, certainly can't play him anymore and no one will trade for him...what a waste of a pick! I guess old, slow and injury prone isn't a good mix!
ian Potter 9 Posted October 8, 2012 2 touches 30 yards Mathews looks like Usaine Bolt and Battle looks like the Refridgerator Perry. And I thought Andy Reid was the only one who could severely misuse an RB.

Quickolas1 80 Posted October 8, 2012 If you're watching Mathews right now (versus 2 yards per touch Battle) and think he sucks... you should seriously consider not watching football anymore. Chris Collinsworth is not getting a christmas card after the silly 'too bad fantasy owners' comment he just made.

I guess old, slow and injury prone isn't a good mix! Yea I was so excited to draft him too (too high a pick to admit) and thought I'd get maybe his career best year at least in receptions. Instead I'll be watching him loaf to 5 pnts every week while Rudolph sits on my bench.
