Well not just that, but if you really do allow people to essentially "opt out" of Obummercare by allowing them to keep sh!tty, non compliant policies, then there isn't enough of a risk pool to support the people who do sign up for Obummercare. Insurance companies that sell Obummercare policies will be left holding the bag so you can see why they're pissed about changing the rules after the program has (sorta) launched.

I'm going to guess it has not. We're typically talking about individual plans here. People get them thinking they should have some form of insurance, but they cheap out on them or perhaps simply can't afford a better plan.

 

Then when those people get seriously sick or injured they come to find out their plan doesn't cover "pre-existing conditions" or has a cap on the amount that can be paid out in a lifetime and/or for a single "event." The end result is they thought they were covered but really they weren't.

 

Which could be all well and fine--I guess they should've taken the personal responsibility to ensure they were adequately covered, right? However they still get the care they need because this is not a third world country where we let people go untreated for major injuries or illness. But they can't pay out of pocket for that so the cost gets passed on to the insured--probably including you under your employer-provided insurance.

 

I did not mean to imply that you have a sh!tty policy. My point was you were crying that maybe people like their sh!tty policies and I was saying that only an ignorant fool like yourself could think that such policies really provide substantial coverage in a time of crisis. Lucky for you your employer has saved you from making that mistake but many are not so lucky.

But it's far from the best plan and he and his Administration have done an absolutely wretched job of rolling it out so far. So much so that I am starting to wonder if we would've been better off leaving the job for someone else down the road.
