t.j 35 Posted January 7, 2021 Those 2015-2020 drafts are awful but drafting is not the entirety of a GM's job. Belichick has consistently made good salary cap decisions on free agents, both his own players (in many cases letting his own players go rather than overpay them) and bringing in players from other teams and getting more out of them than the previous teams did. edjr 6,159 Posted January 11 If he wasn't the worst drafting GM in NFL history, he would have easily broken Shula's record. Stubborn mule. GFY

Ray_T 685 Posted January 11 well, most of the comments in here dont differentiate between Belicheck the GM and Belicheck the coach. The reality is at his age the weight of wearing both hats may have been a little heavy. I still think hes one of the greatest coaches of all time. and I'm the first to admit he was a better Coach than he was a GM though for a while he managed both roles very well. I suspect if he wants to continue as a coach, he will be able to do it somewhere..... Just not in New England. either way if he never coaches another game, he will still be considered to be one of the greatest coaches of his generation. possibly one of the greatest of all time.

Not to be confused with Belicheck the coach. I would never suggest he is a hall of fame GM. hitting on your draft picks..... thats the job of the GM. The coach just takes the existing talent on the team and does the best he can with it.
