FenixTx972 2 Posted August 13, 2014 Jordan Matthews is the one that just keeps coming up to me. 6'3 frame. Pass happy offense. Starting WRs have durability concerns. His ADP is 143 overall. Also, for you dynasty kids, Maclin is a free agent after this yea Here's a nice tidbit for you...Matthews is related to Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice. Matthews Mom is Jerry's first cousin. Who do you have breaking out?
We Tigers 71 Posted August 13, 2014 Devonta Freeman is my pick, but he's probably going to be pricey by the time I draft. I also expect Mike Evans to have an impact right away.
JT 137 Posted August 13, 2014 Carlos Hyde/RB/SF. I believe he'll be in no worse than a 50/50 time share with Gore relatively quickly (and that he'll vulture GL opps) and will be the primary ball carrier late in the year. John Brown/WR/AZ 3rd round pick out of Pittsburgh (Ks) State. Really fast, big kid who will go across the middle. He'll be a complement early on but his speed will pay dividends. I expect Fitz to be traded this season, as the Cards will not be contenders and his deal is way too heavy to carry into next season. Brown will be one of the main beneficiaries. Rarely do I like rookie WR, but I think the stars may align for this kid.
tanatastic 2,062 Posted August 13, 2014 Iv been holding it close to the chest, and im a major Cooks fan this year but I have another guy I feel could be a rare rookie wr standout. Kelvin Benjamin. Cam needs targets and he can throw better than people give him credit for.

Really like Hyde's potential as well. I think anyone in a keeper league who isn't looking at picking up him or Freeman in the 8th round or so may be missing out on good value this year and great value next year. Frozenbeernuts 2,235 Posted August 13, 2014 The eagles may still choose to start someone like ifeanyi momah over matthews, who looked like a rookie in his first preseason game. He has a lot to learn before he will be counted on.

BigMilk 40 Posted August 14, 2014 Why Hyde? We as a fantasy community have doubted Gore for years. Same story every year. Good info on Brown. Love both Hyde and Brown. Brown is probably a year away, though I could see him producing late this year. But dynasty wise, he is a guy you grab and hold even if he does squat 3/4 of the year (like many did with Cord Patterson last year) I agree with your sentiment on Gore, but the fact is that the Niners have been drafting mad RBs the past few years, and the wheels have to fall off Frank Gore eventually. Is this the year? Could be. But even if its not, the injuries in the Niner backfield mean that Hyde is going to get immediate opportunities to produce and pay dividends. He is a big dude, and I could easily see him splitting 50-50 with Gore before long. If Gore goes down, watch out. The one thing I don't like about Hyde is his vision, as he tends to just race to the corner rather than run smart. But I think I'd rather have Hyde than other rookie RBs like Sankey, Hill, West, Williams or Freeman.
Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted August 14, 2014 Not a rookie but I predict Aaron Hernandez will have a break out year.
Breesman32 11 Posted August 14, 2014 Devonta Freeman is my pick, but he's probably going to be pricey by the time I draft. I also expect Mike Evans to have an impact right away. The sooner he starts the sooner I can get him off my team.
WhiteWonder 2,721 Posted August 14, 2014 Kelvin Benjamin - if you havn't seen vid of him in camp or at least read about him, he is erasing all of his concerns coming out of college (mainly dropsies). of course those could creep up at any time but hes a huge target that runs pretty good routes in an offense that desperately needs play makers. Cody Latimer - Welker has concussion issues. All its going to take is an injury to Welker or Sanders for this guy to put up numbers Davante Adams - I think boykin is average at best. more for 2015 James White - more for 2015 as I do not see the Patriots keeping both Vereen and Ridley beyond this season. maybe both walk. Storm Johnson - already talks he is pushing jordan todman who the Jags view more as a COP, comfortable with Bortles. Gerhart hasn't handled the full load either. justforbeer 41 Posted August 14, 2014 Jeez. K. Ben for Carolina is such a no brainer. He is already their #1. He has height like Calvin in the red zone too. He may have 12+ tds this year.
JT 137 Posted August 14, 2014 Fast yes, big, not so much. "Big" was a poor choice of words. The reports from camp are that he is a very physical receiver with a frame that they think he'll add on to. Deceptively strong, not afraid to go in the middle. So a burner who does more than run 40s up and down the sidelines. They are throwing around lots of Boldin comparisons. JT 137 Posted August 14, 2014 Why Hyde? We as a fantasy community have doubted Gore for years. Same story every year. Good info on Brown. Like Gore, Hyde goes straight ahead. The Niners tried guys like Hunter as a change of pace, but that's all a shifty guy can be in that offense. Runners have to hit the hole moving forward, and Hyde does a lot of that. Reports from camp and even prior to the draft were that they were pleasantly surprised by his aptitude in the passing game, especially as it relates to being able to protect and/or serve as an outlet for a mobile QB. They attribute that to playing with the kid at Ohio State (Miller?). And while Gore continues to baffle with his durability, there is one absolute: Father Time remains undefeated. It's going to happen. Maybe this could be the year. Maybe SF believes they can get more long term out of Gore if he has less workload. In any case, the fact that they keep trying to draft his replacement (and that Hyde is the best fit and healthy) makes me think it's time.

Deceptively strong, not afraid to go in the middle. So a burner who does more than run 40s up and down the sidelines. They are throwing around lots of Boldin comparisons. I am big John Brown proponent as well at this point quite honestly. Ask the guys who are in my dynasty leagues and they will tell you I have been gushing about his camp for several weeks in the chat, even the leagues that I don't own him in, because that's me. The word "big" stuck out for me because the fact that he is not is the reason I missed him in my dynasty drafts. I have limited time to devote to FF and as a result I only study the top end prospects and/or players with special size speed metrics. John Brown was not on my rookie draft list though I was able to pick him up in 1 subsequent FA draft after hearing the camp buzz and seeing highlights all over TV here in Phoenix. Anyway, I wasn't trying to deter anyone who had an interest, just try to lend a hand where I have the knowledge to do so. The Boldin comments from GM Keim were not comparing playing styles for the two, rather how quickly Brown has adopted to the pro offense. They are very, very different players. J. Brown is very unlikely to be a force in the middle of the field in the pros and he has not been regularly targeted on those type of routes so far in the preseason either in games or in practices, its just not where he wins. He has been winning on go/fly routes and bubble screens, as well as deep outs. When Keim made the Boldin comments he also alluded to the fact that they actually have Brown running a limited route tree at this point because they don't want him thinking, just continuing to play fast. J. Brown is an exciting player and I would expect him to continue to get a bigger slice of the offense over the next few years but I also think that the idea he would be a reason to move Fitz is way off base. If anything, the other J. Brown (Jaron) would be a bigger beneficiary this year in the absence of Fitz IMO. He wins in more of the same situations as Fitz than Brown would. He was in fact the primary red zone target while he and John Brown were in the game together and he was successful in both cases. Here is Jaron Brown, the go across the middle, win in traffic guy absent Fitz: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014080903/2014/PRE1/texans@cardinals?icampaign=GC_schedule_rr#menu=gameinfo%7CcontentId%3A0ap3000000376346&tab=videos
bobby heenan 60 Posted August 14, 2014 Hyde is all the rage and I'm on board....been on board before otas/camp...it's just an ideal situation...guy had some nice runs with the first unit last week....but probably his most impressive play was a great block on a blitz pickup....we keep waiting on the gore demise....I think you see close to a 50/50 split I'm effort to keep gore fresh for a sb run....Hyde is going to make good bye week filler/spot start and possible flex material some weeks....and if gore wereally to go down? Hmmm
Djgb13 2,339 Posted August 14, 2014 For a breakout I have to have that person in the starting position when regular season gets underway. I like hydes situation if gore wasn't there. But like someone else said before me I have Kelvin Benjamin for a breakout. Lots of good reports, has the size, and cam needs someone besides Olson to throw to. This guy fits perfectly
