GobbleDog 996 Posted September 14, 2015 Ellington was seen walking without a limp after the game, and quarterback Carson Palmer seemed optimistic that Ellington would return. “It’s hopefully a day-to-day thing with Andre,” Palmer said. “I thought it was a lot more serious with the way he down. But it looks like he’s going to be O.K., hopefully.” He isn't in a cast and he can walk without a limp. I'll take it!
IMMensaMind 462 Posted September 14, 2015 Before Sunday, I dropped DJohnson to pick up Isaiah Crowell, who was sitting there on the waiver wire. I really believe in DJohnson, but the presence and buzz about CJ-1K - and now this latest Arians quote about him - are giving me pause as to what to do here. We need more roster spots in our league, dammit!!
brotherbock 349 Posted September 14, 2015 I agree, but will the Cards coaching staff agree? They may want the experience in there instead of the rookie. How good of a pas blocker is CJ and DJ? That could be huge with Palmer, the statue, back there. Some coaches, honestly, also get as enamored over a 'big name player' as fantasy geeks do. We all have biases, football coaches too. They might roll with CJ because he's 'CJ', the guy who they remember kicking their asses as a Titan.
ffexpert 4 Posted September 14, 2015 This smells of Arians trying to motivate DJohnson. I think next game the split is 50-50 or maybe 60-40 in favor of CJohnson, with the coaching staff hoping Djohnson makes the most of his opportunities and "earns" the feature role - a la Jeremy Hill last year. I think before the halfway point of the season, if Djohnson takes care of the football, he will become the main guy, with ellington playing the Giovanni Bernard role and Cjohnson being insurance. I'm sure they are not losing sleep over what he had done to them in the pass .
boilerddd 62 Posted September 15, 2015 I agree the talent of D Johnsons should elevate him to starter status eventually. The only thing that concerns me is remembering the 2013 season, when I owned Ellington, and could not for the life of me understand why the hell Arians continually stuck with Mendenhall that year. I just think Arians is an old school guy that prefers to role with a veteran. Concerns me because I seem to always be stuck on the wrong side of Arians philosophy. But Damn that last play by D Johnson was sick. That dude is a beast and can flat out move.

GobbleDog 996 Posted September 15, 2015 For a running back becoming known as much for his inability to stay healthy as for his ability on the field, Andre Ellington hasn’t managed to lose any trust in Bruce Arians’ eyes. The Cardinals coach downplayed Ellington’s latest injury, a mild sprain of the posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, while talking up the tailback’s toughness. He said Ellington could miss anywhere from one to three weeks – and perhaps even no time whatsoever. “You never know. He’s a very tough guy, we know that,” Arians said Monday, a day after Ellington was hurt during the fourth quarter of Arizona’s 31-19 season-opening victory over the Saints. “He played last year with a whole lot worse.” Ellington, who managed to play most of last season despite running with a torn tendon in his foot, might be available for Sunday’s game in Chicago if he can practice by Friday. It seems doubtful, but Arians wouldn’t rule it out. “No, that’s one kid I never rule out until it’s game time,” he said. If Ellington can’t go, Arians said Chris Johnson would slide into the starting lineup and that the Cardinals shouldn’t miss much of a beat. They ran for 120 yards on Sunday – averaging 4.8 yards per carry as a group. http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/nfl/cardinals/2015/09/14/cardinals-andre-ellington-expected-miss-1-3-weeks-sprained-pcl/72269132/ Sounds like Ellington will be back sooner rather than later. Interesting. Could have done without the coach actually saying "game time"... Foulest words known to man.
