RLLD 4,275 Posted March 7, 2016 Says the guy who immediately called me racist. You are what you hate Ray: a hypocrite and a bigot who doesn't even have the balls to stand behind what he says. You're an effeminate waffling shell of a man and a pity you. Yes, I put you on display for what you are, as I have previously asserted I would do, you may want to get accustomed to it.... I think your logic may be flawed, but I do know that you are a disgusting racist and have shown this side of yourself repeatedly, no matter how much mud you toss at me, your hate and repugnant views have been on display for some time. Hardcore troubadour 15,911 Posted March 7, 2016 I am not clear what results you are hoping to find, or what point you feel can be further made. Please feel free to add to my example if you agree that the dilution of voters is a concern. Well, I think your point was that the Republican Party needs to consolidate their support against a possible candidate that they don't want. You chose to use 1930's Germany and the Nazis as an example. I say first of all, its not close to being applicable, and second, that it's also not necessary, as there are many examples of this type of situation in the modern world. You elected to use hyperbolic low hanging fruit. With a little bit of research and a basic understanding of how many countries, in today's world, elect their leaders you wouldn't need to invoke the Nazis, but that wouldn't have the same ring to it. kutulu 1,703 Posted March 8, 2016 Oh I don't know, practically every country in Europe. Or maybe go one country up from us. Well it sounds like an example. titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted March 8, 2016 Oh, so you weren't talking about Hitler when you brought up that Germans voted Nazi? You were just talking about the political party that they voted for? He wasn't comparing trump to hitler. That would be silly. He is warning of the dangers of a divided electorate, and how it paves the way for a demogogue with a loyal following to gain power. There is a lot of similarity between this time period and the 1930's. Coming off of massive financial chaos, probably looking at more, lots of anger, etc. Does that mean trump is going to invade Canada and build a string of death camps? Of course not. But by more moderate American political standards, he is a demagogue. Says nothing of substance, just rah rah bullchit to rile up the disaffected.

Invoking Nazis and Hitler brings with it all sorts of connotations. It's a base, simple way to attempt to make a point. It has no place in comparison to other political systems or historical outcomes. It stands on its own, a giant outlier. I invoke Godwins Law when it comes to Hitler and the Nazis. And let's not compare our recent economic problems to what was going on in Germany, and the world in the 1930s. Nobody was starving these last 8 years. Current economic problems have not risen to 1930s levels. Yet. Governments are much more skilled at propping the facade up. The global economy is held together with chicken wire and chewing gum. The US economy, on which the whole world is based, is smoke and mirrors and only propped up by unsustainable deficit spending. China, while much stronger in certain areas (sitting on gold instead of debt) has massive underlying problems. Europe is bankrupt. I think some massive pain is coming and most people know it. Hence the anger and feeling of betrayal. Trump feeds off that. But he is not a solution. Frankly there probably isn't one. It's probably too late.

Not everyone can understand this level of thought and logic. The point remains. The Republicans likely still have a chance to fix this, but so far they have done all the wrong things. It's time to end this charade and the only way is to eliminate the dilution of the voters. They think they can brute force this thing, they can't, they have to manipulate this. There is no correlation between Hitler and Trump, no matter how many times people try to use that, which is rather stupid to be blunt.
