Mike Nice 40 Posted September 13, 2016 Both in timeshare, who do you feel has the safer floor? Time to buy low on Freeman? Or is tevan going to take over.
weepaws 3,261 Posted September 13, 2016 Wow great question. I'm going to take Bernard in a ppr league but just slightly . I thought it was interesting that Coleman received more targets in the passing game than Freeman.
tanatastic 2,062 Posted September 13, 2016 It's sad that his even has to be a thread, but here we are. Weeps got it right so far, gonna give everyone a few weeks to let things settle. But that's not a great start for Freeman.
Mike Nice 40 Posted September 13, 2016 It almost seems like they really really want coleman to be the guy, and I think soon it will be just coleman with freeman playing limited. Gio atleast will always have the role that he has.
Skinny_Bastard 158 Posted September 13, 2016 I go Freeman simply because he did it last year.
Gratefulegg1973 266 Posted September 13, 2016 Coleman is on my waiver wire, and I'm thinking of dropping Gio for him (I don't own Freeman). Gio stinks. He was awful last year. Awful. And his week 1, which all the 'experts' predicted he'd have a big day, was absolutely worthless.
weepaws 3,261 Posted September 13, 2016 I would agree with you , I would pick up Coleman
wezvidz 2 Posted September 13, 2016 Coleman is on my waiver wire, and I'm thinking of dropping Gio for him (I don't own Freeman). Jealous. I'm a Freeman keeper owner and couldn't grab Coleman in the draft as a handcuff before someone else did. And the guy is bragging after week 1 he grabbed Coleman in all his drafts knowing it was his year. After week 1 it certainly looks like it... Gio can't be the worst on your roster to drop to get Coleman. Drop your WR4 for him, worth it...
TimHauck 3,160 Posted September 14, 2016 Coleman had some nice receiving #'s but he only had 2.8 YPC (although of course still better than Freeman). May be a bit premature
weepaws 3,261 Posted September 14, 2016 I would agree , there is no way that Freeman won't get more work in the coming games.
TennisMenace 156 Posted September 14, 2016 I too believe Coleman's time may be coming soon but for now, it still is Freeman's to lose.
polecatt 485 Posted September 14, 2016 I would still play Freeman. He should get the scoring carries where Gio won't. Both are great PPR RBs but Freeman should do better on the ground.
brotherbock 349 Posted September 14, 2016 Freeman's last great game was October 15, 2016. He's been a mediocre back for almost a calendar year now. Particularly rushing. The next week, 10/25 (week 7), he ran 25 times for 116 yds. No score. After that, he didn't put up more than 88 yards rushing, or more than 67 receiving, in any game. Combined? Week 8, 130 combined yds. After that, he topped out at 103 combined yards in any week. And three scores after week 6. Three. And none of them multiples in a game. 11 months. Why are we saying he should do well, or hold off Coleman?
Mike Nice 40 Posted September 14, 2016 Ppr he had 79 receptions.
weepaws 3,261 Posted September 14, 2016 Freeman's strength is on the passing game , and not in the running game . Coleman will be the lead Rb and Freeman should get more of the targets in the passing game .m But it sure was interesting that Coleman received more targets in week one.
brotherbock 349 Posted September 15, 2016 Ppr he had 79 receptions. 73, actually. But 36 after week 6. Granted, bye week and missed a game and most of another. Still...PPR, you're getting the equivalent of a mediocre WR with him. Yeah, he had an 8 catch, 10 catch, and 7 catch game in that span. But while that's not bad, that's not amazing, world-beater, no way he can lose the job stuff. That's Theo Riddick stuff. And Riddick isn't the starter either. Fact is, since week 6 of last year, there is no reason in the world why a team couldn't give Coleman the starting job outright. I'm not going to make a prediction after just one week, but I have no reason to think week 1 will not be the standard for the rest of the year. Freeman just wasn't great for most of last year. weepaws 3,261 Posted September 15, 2016 I would say he was great for half of last season .
Mike Nice 40 Posted September 15, 2016 So he had 36 through 6 weeks. And 37 through 8 games since he missed 1.5 games after that. I think you're underestimating that he was still a solid rb the second half just not compared to the unsustainable first 6 games.
weepaws 3,261 Posted September 15, 2016 Yea but if you look at his rushing stats , he was very good in his first eight games , than he got so beat up and was awful rushing the ball the second half. And that's the reason Coleman is taking work from him.

Just nothing that should mandate that he not be replaced by someone else. He's a sixth or seventh round talent this year.
wezvidz 2 Posted September 16, 2016 So let's say you had Freeman or could play someone like Riddick this week... does Freeman still keep your starting spot?

And that's the reason Coleman is taking work from him. So if the Falcons realize that, why would they make Coleman the lead RB? Wouldn't it likely be an even RBBC at worst?
weepaws 3,261 Posted September 16, 2016 Who's to say it's not a RBBC. I can see Freeman getting a lot more work this weekend.
brotherbock 349 Posted September 16, 2016 So let's say you had Freeman or could play someone like Riddick this week... does Freeman still keep your starting spot? That's the reason I didn't touch him this year. Yes, he keeps the starting spot this weekend. But I would not be in the least surprised to see Riddick outscore him again. He kept starting for me all of last year...aaaaaaalllllllll of last year.
jimaveli 119 Posted September 17, 2016 Gio because he's more fit for his role on most fantasy teams than Freeman is for the 'high upside every week rb1 starter' role he was drafted to fill in most leagues. Sell Freeman while his name still means something. I mean it. Get something more reliable and solid if you can. Aka not Melvin Gordon. Hell, if you catch the right overreactor/Freeman believer combo, you could get some other round 1-3 rb and set yourself up for glory. Shady Dancer. Muscle Hamster. Someone like that. Why? Freeman could easily fall into 'never know when to start him' territory with one or two more weeks of similar Coleman usage. Aka I'm very afraid that he could have a whole season that is like the last half of last season. People above have done a great job of spelling out his decline after being Barry Sanders for a month last year. And now his fate seems to be tethered to needing Coleman to get hurt or somehow ruin his week 1 role, the health of Julio's feet (he just made it through a whole season...Julio usually alternates), and the effectiveness of 2016 Broken Matt Ryan. Yikes. This was his story last year too, right? This is how he was a midround at best speculative selection. For a while, after Coleman broke a rib, and Atlanta won several games via comeback on soft prevents, it worked out amazingly. But then...that 2nd half happened. And I can't help but feel like Matty's carriage has turned into a pumpkin right before our eyes. But Matt's name value and Atlanta's past of being a haven of fantasy goodness keeps buying him excuses and time. But we see it as a fantasy community. We do! Matty Ice was barely getting drafted by the end of August. But we're still rolling with his weapons! Sometimes, that can work out. Other times, bad qb play, shaky coordination (see Kyle Shanny) and injuries take down the whole ship. Last thing for now...Freeman was also on a crazy td pace that isn't repeatable...especially if Atlanta can't execute better. Gio: I didn't love Gio's usage week one, but Jets D is what it is. I wouldn't mind hanging onto Gio for a while because ideally I wouldnt need him as an rb1 or every week rb2 like people need Freeman. And if Gio has one more shaky week, he could be a supreme buy low and stash candidate.
