JTB 52 Posted October 5, 2016 Within minutes, the justices made clear what they thought of Buck's sentencing hearing and appeals. "What occurred at the penalty phase of this trial is indefensible," Justice Samuel Alito said. Justice Sonia Sotomayor pointed out that Buck's original lawyer had a reputation for losing capital cases. Reports indicated that "if you want to ensure a death penalty, hire this lawyer," she said. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2016/10/05/supreme-court-texas-death-sentence-racial-discrimination/91616124/

Just this week we had an incident here in san diego and 200 people protested int he streets. Some nutcase in traffic and then made a "pointing gun" getsure at cops with his ECiggarette device and got shot. BLM is a media darling and I see no end in sight. Voltaire 5,202 Posted October 6, 2016 does anyone really care about BLM anymore? Sadly, yes. They're taking over. And the only way to maybe prevent/delay it is by being willing to inflict Donald Trump on everybody.

Some nutcase in traffic and then made a "pointing gun" getsure at cops with his ECiggarette device and got shot. BLM is a media darling and I see no end in sight. i feel like it has completely lost steam / become a total sideshow joke. I have friends who run/ contribute to charitable organizations or youth sports teams and they are making up t-shirts for those groups with things like "turtle lives matter" (a youth rugby league). I see no evidence that the BLM movement is taking over any more than I see them as just a minor inconvenience that almost detracts from an issue that is and should be looked at seriously. its like colin kaepernick and his failure to realize that A. he is no longer a star or even much of a relevant NFL player so his only way to stay relevant is to protest in the manner hes doing it in and B. not realizing that people are talking WAY more about him and if his actions are smart or stupid than they are talking about the actual issues. Big name athletes don't want to rock the boat too much. maybe some tweets here and there. If Kaepernick was a star, and truely believes in his cause, he would have protested in a different manner, I have no doubts. sorry for the mini rant on Colin.... but back to BLM, i feel like its run out of steam. IGotWorms 4,057 Posted October 6, 2016 Yeah I sure haven't seen BLM "taking over" anywhere I've been lately. Seems like more of a media driven/manufactured thing than anything else
Voltaire 5,202 Posted October 6, 2016 In fairness, i don't have my pulse on what's going on stateside like you guys do. I'm just an guy overseas unsympathetic to their cause and p*ssed off about what I read. If you guys feel this thing has run it's course and will soon die out, then I'm thrilled. Well it's just like every other big media story. Supposedly there's parents OD'ing with their kids around everywhere. According to the news it should be a g0ddamn miracle I get home in the evening without passing a minivan on the side of the road full of kids and an OD'ing mom hanging out of the driver's side door. Yet that is not something I've ever seen in person in my life, and I don't know anyone that's ever seen it in person either. BLM is like that as is terrorism. Don't know anyone that's ever been the victim of a terrorist attack. Don't even know someone who knows someone. Yet apparently I should be sitting here with a shotgun in my lap for the moment ISIS bursts through the door to behead me, my family and the dog.

Got it. Very few people die in hurricanes, but more would if they didn't get out of its way. Can your selfish little brain understand that?

Excellent shotgun. Usually shoot 3 inch shells. Take your pick of what brand. I like to use #2s though. That should be good for isis and clowns

I completely agree with you about BLM being media driven and more manufactured than actual substance But terrorism is real even if you have never been impacted by it. My dad lost his best friend in 9-11. Doesn't mean I sit at home with a shotgun in my lap but it also doesn't mean I take our security for granted. BLM is a "movement". Terrorism is evil. There is nothing evil about BLM. Silly, yes.

No I wasn't comparing them in substance, just how both of them are all over the news and getting people freaked out or wringing their hands over what to do ... when in fact the vast majority of people in this country will never be impacted by either. Terrorism is real, sure. But it's silly to spend so much time freaking out and obsessing over it when the chances of it occurring are so low. Freak out about heart disease, diabetes, car accidents, addiction or cancer.

You just don't get it that you have the luxury of not having to worry about it because measures have been taken to prevent it. It's a really, really naive mindset.
