Has Digby ever gotten dinged here and just not taken the bait or at some point given up and decided not to keep it going?

Just wondering.

He has been beaten into submission before, but it was quite an effort.

He usually just ends up hurling juvenile insults at his tormentors then coming back the next day like nothing happened

He's very resilient.

He gets disability? For what? And how is collecting disablity if he's working as a paradocctor?

Let me dig up the post. I'll post it in a minute

Actually what you guys call a beating I call idiots hurling what they call "insults" at someone and then proclaiming that someone is getting beaten. Which is why it doesn't bother me. Plus add to the fact that this is a message board and has no inkling of effect to me in the real world and you begin to understand why it has no effect on me

Couple of things that happened to me while I was in the military. One was tearing my patella tendon when I was going through pararescue training, Another for tearing a muscle in my shoulder, etc. Couple different things for it.

How much do you get for that? Who distributes that money?

Do they know you're not actually disabled?

I'm killing time on a flight from Florida to Phoenix, so I appreciate his lack of self-control in helping me to kill the time.

Government does. For the process what they do is give you your medical records before you get out. Then you take it to the BA where they look through it all and pull out everything you can get disability for. Then they set you up with an appointment with a doctor who looks at your records and examines you. He determines if your disability is legit and then forwards all that to someone who makes the determination of what percentage disability you get. They are very stingy about what percentage they give you. So it's got to be something legit for you to get disability for it.

Military folks now about this process. RP doesn't seem to so we all know he didn't serve any time with the military.

I dunno about you jerry but my self control seems pretty good seeing as how I'm just having a nice conversation with you guys right now. Y'all seem curious about some of the military processes so I figured I would help y'all out with some education in it

So you collect money because you're disabled, but you're able to work?

It's kind of hard to explain but it's disability from the military. Injuries you have from your time in the military are paid for since you wouldn't have had them if you hadn't joined up. It's a nice benefit. There's plenty of people who get disability from the military who work. I think as long as you aren't 100% disabled you can still work just fine. My wife's aunt and uncle both collect 80% disability and still have good paying jobs. You can't live off the disability money because it's nothing like 5K a month but it's a nice little bit of extra money to help out. Plus you get the free healthcare as well at VA facilities

I've already served 6 years in the Air Force. You get that when you join. Also, while you're in you get tuition assistance which just pays for your schooling but doesn't give you extra pay. That doesn't come from your GI Bill. You can use TA as much as you want and it won't take away from your GI Bill. Once you get out you can use that GI Bill to pay for your full tuition. It also will pay you at the beginning of each semester a book stipend and also pay you monthly (depending on how many classes you take). If you take 3 classes or more it's considered full time so you get the max amount they will pay out per month (usually pretty close to 2K). I've only used up a year of my GI Bill (had a year left of school when I got out) so I've got 3 years left. Since PA school is only 2 years it'll be fully covered and I will be paid monthly while I'm in it.

I've tried playing it all pretty smart by doing as much school as I could while I was in so when I got out I wouldn't be having to go to school for 4 years. I didn't expect my grandpa to die and leave me some things that would give me income monthly so I had been saving up for when I wouldn't be making a whole lot but since he did things have been pretty comfortable money wise.

More confusion you can posslbly clear up: didn't you play baseball in college, even win a national championship or something? You had a picture of a ring and everything! So, what happened? Did you quit your baseball scholarship to join the Air Force as an enlisted person, then finish your bio degree after 6 years in the service? :dunno:

Enough to go hunting. golfing and all those other outdoorsman activities he says he does. Quite a feat for a disabled twenty something. And let's not forget he kept watch with his gun during the clown epidemic of Halloween 2016

Fair enough, but don't you think that money should be given to vets who are actually unable to work due to their injuries.

You work full time, play golf, hunt pheasants, work out, and shop for diamonds with no physical limitations.

Yea I played ball for 2 years but decided to stop cause my grades weren't what I was going to need to get into med school. Ball kept me busy so I slacked on class and ended up with Cs instead of As. So I decided to stop and joined the AF to help pay for school. Once I started back school Texas wouldn't let the credits I already had transfer before their course descriptions were different from the ones at the college I went to (basically a scam IMO because they just wanted you to take their classes so they could get more money) so I had to start over from the beginning. If they had let them transfer then I would have finished school before I got out. But working full time in the military and going to school full time was pretty dam difficult but I managed. There would be days when I wouldn't get home until after 11 from class only to have to wake up at 4:30 and get ready for work.

Those vets still get disability money and treatment. There are plenty of vets who get disability are still are able to maintain a healthy lifestyle like I'm doing. Like I said you actually have your medical records reviewed and get examine by a doctor to make sure it's all legit.

Plus your deployments and your time on the Honor Guard traveling the country to make notifications about Airmen killed in action. You were one busy guy. Knew a guy named Tommy Flannigan like that. Yeah, that's the ticket!

You were able to get a BS in biology in night school, and the AF paid for it while you were a grunt, and they never transferred you in 6 years? :dunno:

Yep. You have to get a bachelors before you can cross over to the officer side. You also have to go to OTS which is basically basic all over again except for officers. If I planned on making a career out of it I would have but I didn't want to make a career in the military. I like being close to my family and there's no guarantee they will let you stay close to them. Plus you get better pay on the civilian side

So you could have made a career of it, but decided not to for family reasons. It wasnt the fact that you're disabled?

Not all that smart to buy a $40K truck when you make $30K per year.

Plus, we don't know many years he financed it for and at what interest rate.
