Can you imagine the uproar if a show today had a recurring plot line where a male character dresses as a woman in order to prove he's "crazy"? There would be boycotts and a hashtag frenzy.

I think the crazy Hawkeye and the Chicken/baby was the disappointing finale. I agree that it went way downhill when it became all about the message of the week. I think it was after Trapper left so people blamed BJ. He was a watered down Trapper designed to give Alda more airtime.
