Even Macron’s France is Coming to it’s Senses

Recommended Posts

They’re banning ‘gender neutral’ moves to a protect the French language from American woke influence. Macron is still a corporatist globalist hack to his bones but nonetheless, he has shockingly made a variety of sane moves lately.

Makes sense since their entire language is based on male/female words.

It's like  our vowels: AEIOU sometimes Y.

For them it would be: Male Female sometimes Tranny sometimes non-binary sometimes whatever the fock the new craze is.

France’s linguistic watchdog: it’s not 'esports', it’s ‘jeu video de competition’

The Academie's duties have become particularly challenging in recent years, as the dominance of the US tech sector has seeded English-language terms in French soil. In the past, the Academie has had to invent a number of French equivalents for words and phrases born from new technology: from “hashtag” (“mot-dièse”) to “sexting” (“textopornographie”) and even “email” (“courriel”).

In a report published earlier this year, the Academie warned growing usage of English and hybrid “Franglais” terms could have disastrous effects on the French language and create new barriers to communication.

Athough the Académie’s work is definitely prescriptive rather than descriptive, it certainly doesn’t wield unchallenged authority over French speakers themselves. Linguists have found that attempts to stamp out English loanwords are not always successful, and French publication The Local notes recent failures include an attempt to rebrand “le wifi” as “l’access sans fil à internet.” The terms never caught on.
