I have 288 TSLA & no MSFT

Of course I'm happy to see it, but I was surprised to see TSLA up after hours.

This doesn't include Q4 numbers released today, but the top line has leveled off.............

https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/TSLA/tesla/revenue

And the bottom line is in a downtrend

https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/TSLA/tesla/eps-earnings-per-share-diluted

Tesla stock rose solidly late despite missing views as Elon Musk sees true self-driving starting in June with an "epic" 2026 ahead.

Personally, I don't buy it, but I'm going to ride the roller coaster to the end :)

If it adds to the after hours gains tomorrow, I'll be selling substantially out of the money covered calls.

The premiums can be absolutely insane.

Nice.

MSFT is a forever hold for me so not sweating it just way more fun when it bounces up.

Microsoft is a helluva company.

25 years ago, along with Intel, they ruled the computing world. Talk about divergence. Microsoft saw 'the cloud' approaching, Intel didn't.

Yep. Once they dumped Balmer they started making the right moves.

Apple will go down.  It almost always does.

They'll beat on revenue and profit, but someone will find a 0.2% decline in sales in China or something, and it'll take the stock down 2-5%.  I'm sure there will be words about how China is subsidizing Chinese made phones over Apple as well.  And then, of course, the stock will make up what they lose and then some over the quarter.

The only time they don't go down on earnings is when they announce huge buy backs and also beat on the top and bottom line like they always do.

I think the reason Apple shares have been floundering is because of the Q-3 report. YOY EPS were down 34.1%

https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/AAPL/apple/eps-earnings-per-share-diluted

If that trend continues with the Q-4 report, it probably won't be good. They made $2.18 in Q4 2023. Let's hope they can match that, or at least come close.

For the quarter, Apple reported earnings per share of $2.40 on revenue of $124.3 billion. Analysts were looking for EPS of $2.35 and revenue of $124.1 billion, according to Bloomberg consensus estimates.

Looks like a beat, but we'll have to wait and see what the guidance numbers are.

Apple AH doing decently.

Up just under $7 as I type. Was flat to down around $3 until the conference call started. I'm guessing that's when the AI hype began....lol

Not picking on apple, everybody's doing it!

Seeing more and more of these headlines

“Throughout January, investors placed 10 times more bets on American stocks falling than on their continued rise, a staggering shift that reflects growing unease over Wall Street's future under Trump's leadership“

Tomorrow’s opening will suck because of this tariff news.

People are so effing delusional. I owned Intel in its glory days. 1993-2000 I didn't get out anywhere near the top, (left a lot on the table) but at least saw that their dynasty was cratering & locked in decent profits. I kept it in a watch list as I do all stocks that I held at one time. This comment on the yahoo message board today is simply priceless.

Ron: Trump 25% tax   Donald  happy Monday

Here's a stock which has a 25 year annualized return of -0.74% & this guy is convinced the problems started on November 4, 2024.

I keep not buying PLTR, traded it way back when it was in the 20’s and made a little, but keep meaning to get back in.

Keep watching it sky rocket including 20% AH’s today.

Instead I picked up more MSFT. Dumb!!!

I'm familiar with PLTR but I've never held it.
Somewhat similar story for me with OKLO. Bought 300 shares @ $23.73 10-28-24 cost basis $7119.00
The stock had been surging so I also sold 3 December 20, 2024 covered calls with a strike price of $24
The premium was $4.87 per share. Net proceeds $1,458.91

As I had hoped, the stock took a breather & closed below the strike price on the expiration date & my net was $1459
3 days later, on December 23, I sold 3 January 31, 2025 covered calls with a strike price of $27 the premium was $2.11 per share which netted another $630.97

Sounds good right ? Not exactly. Shares continued to surge & were called away at $27 on January 31.
I did well, total cost $7119 & net proceeds of $10,190 for a gain of 43% in 3 months.

Shares closed at $45.93 today
Had I just held them, instead of selling that 2nd covered call, my 300 shares would now be worth $13,788 for a gain of 94%

Dumb

As Tony Soprano would say, "whadda ya gonna do"

Tesla continues to get slaughtered. Down over $60 since the post above this one. I'm afraid it could easily fall another $50

Yahoo finance has been my homepage since 1998. Always enjoyed commenting on Stocks, ETFs, etc. that I held, or was interested in. Now, there's a 50-50 chance that a seemingly civil comment like  "didn't realize Teslas sales in China we're down that much last quarter, thanks" will be rejected ?

It's almost as if Yahoo is trying to drive people away. If the comment problems weren't bad enough, the site has become excruciatingly slow.

Any suggestions on other investing sites that allow comments ?

Never mind.  I know the answer.  Smart pretend CFO money was moved out of the target date fund and into cash.  Two of your only 5 options in your small company 401k.

Smart money, and by smart I mean dumb, would have sold at the beginning of 2022 and bought back in October.

It's dumb to try and time the stock market though, that's another reason we know you're a pretend CFO.
