And I sat there staring at both Spaun and Straka and decided not to draft them.

Yeah, Straka missed 6 straight cuts before this, no way I'm drafting that loser.

Edex is all luck. WW won the regular season. Need any more proof?

I had all ten make top 70. Four in top 30. That’s good right?

Sure is.  Nice job.

Sam Burns appears to have 3 putt from 6 feet for a bogey. This makes me smile because I can relate! 🙂

I did this yesterday on #9 and cost my team the front side :(

Then made a downhill left to righter from 12 feet for birdie on #18 to win my team the back side :pointstosky:

Golf is a focked up game.

@bostonlager

I know I saw you mention somewhere something to the effect of "if there were more people like us you'd start a fantasy golf site .... golfballguys.com" or something.. I forget which of the dozen threads it was in but I meant to respond.

If you're talking about fantasy golf in a general sense, overarching, covering DFS, best bets (picks to win, longshots, top 10's, tournament matchups, FRL, etc) there is definitely a market for that. Off the top of my head there is the Pat Mayo guy, RickRunsGood, fantasy national.... absolutely a market for fantasy golf and one that's not nearly as saturated as fantasy football. Granted it's not quite as popular. A site and podcast dedicated to all things fantasy golf on a weekly basis for each tournament would probably do pretty well in a fairly quick manner if done correctly.

If you're talking about a website specifically introducing the edex style to the fantasy golf world... that might be kind of new. I've never used draft.com or whatever that DFS site is that does drafts instead of salary caps. Don't know if they do golf. It would be a small section of the fantasy sports world but definitely unique. Could have single event leagues, year long leagues that commishes could customize which events to include. Rules and scoring could be somewhat customizable.  This would obviously be a much larger undertaking as you're talking about creating a mini version of MFL for golf. I have no clue what all goes into running a website/platform that actually hosts leagues...

but fantasy golf has been around. My dad was in a league for 20+ years. It was much more tedious than what we do. I actually ran something similar back when Edjr had the closet site. It was not a hit and understandably so. It worked for my dad and the 25ish members because they were old school. In a nutshell, after round 1 of each tournament, you called in or e-mailed in your pick. You could only pick the same golfer twice all season. Naturally there would be a lot of similar picks each week. If you failed to call or e-mail your pick, you automatically got the tournament leader. Points were based on what the golfer earned $$ wise in that event. So the bigger events did count for more. They used the monday paper to see what each golfer earned that week and the dude who ran it kept a running tally of everyones  prize money points and what golfers they had used.

I actually enjoyed his league, I would make picks for him all the time. Granted it had to suck for the guy who ran it. The Edex format is much easier.

I hoped you could simply afford it based on using the entry fees that were collected.   Or did you spend everyones money on coke?

(I had friend in college who ran a march madness pool and spent the pot on weed because "he assumed he would win". I won and had to steal his computer until he came up with the money)

If you have any links to places that won't infringe on your EdEx strategy, please post them. I would like to give them a look. I typically use Sportsline and FantasyPros. memberships at both sites for under $100 per year combined (when you use the old cancellation, get the next 3 months free trick). They have really good advice and writeups on gambling in general and is why I use them, but they have decent golf articles for both gambling and DFS. That said, they don't go nearly in depth the way they do with football, baseball, etc like I would like them to do with golf.

I don't pay for anything fantasy sports related. Too much free content out there.  Pat Mayo (while slightly annoying) usually has youtube videos up once or twice a week. I think one covers gambling picks and the other covers DFS lineups. RickRunGood also on Youtube...  I believe both of these channels utilize a paid for sortable spreadsheet from another site to build their lineup models and they show it sometimes. It's interesting to see when they sort it by key metrics for the week based on the type of course being played. You can pick up some helpful info for your own DFS lineups.

Edex I mainly just look at  DK and Fanduel pricing and recent tournament history. I suppose some of what I see in those other videos for my DFS picks will carry over because it's fresh in my mind.

This week there is no tournament history at the course. I think SG:OTT is a key stat. Greens are big so approach maybe not as important. Might be a course where guys can bomb it and hit the bigger greens from the rough even though the rough will be thick. Putting might be important and players who putt well on the typical northeast bentgrass.  That OTT / bentgrass info I picked up did play a part in my Windy Clark selection.  I picked Zalatoris in round 1 just because the playoffs have a history of multiple tournament winners and maybe the floodgates have opened in a Scheffeler manner. :dunno:  but I'm a jinx so who knows.

Starting up a fantasy golf site / podcast and monetizing it would be cool. If you had enough people involved it wouldn't be too overwhelming i wouldn't think.

I could write articles. I’m too foul mouthed to do a podcast.

If one of you guys have time, can you do the fancy thing with the columns so it adds up for this tournament?

ill try. I had previously added a simple formula to a few cells so after this event and after the tour championship it should show the combined scores

If you can't, I probably can do some copy and paste with what KSB did before and just adjust the cell numbers.

okay its all done for BMW.  ill try and do the same for TC later on.   Honestly Im over this playoff challenge , I think the only reason I didn't go the way of Dain and Fumble is I have prize $ coming to me to play with. I mean I guess there is still intrigue but the on the fly nature of it made me kind of lose sight of how easy it was to draft a team that would definitely have all 10 make it to round 2.... little stuff like that.

I do like the overall concept of it and the payout system. Hell..... who am I kidding.... im a sucker for these things and would have done it anyway
