Anyone willing to roll the dice on Lance as starting QB?

That has long been established. What hasn’t is other factors like roster sizes and bench spots.

Roster sizes and bench spots are irrelevant.

The relevant information is that it is a 12 team league starting 1 QB, and there are no 12 team leagues starting 1 QB in which rostering 2 QBs at the draft would be a sound strategy, regardless of roster or bench size.

Disagree. It might not always be a sound strategy, but in certain situations it can and has borne fruit  What isn’t a sound strategy is to have inflexible rules that don’t take different variables into consideration. Since that won’t convince you maybe this will: You know who the only one to really agree with you in this thread Is? Weepaws:

Nobody is endorsing rules that don't take the relevant variables into consideration, such as (in this case) the fact that it is a 12 team league starting 1 QB.

If it were a Superflex league, the rule would not apply.

Whatevs. You and Weepaws are entitled to your own opinions and strategies. I’ll stick with mine.

It’s not superflex…1 QB starter.

Normally I don’t roster 2 QB’s but my thought is I might for a few weeks to see if Lance delivers.  When October rolls around, if he’s as good as I think he can be, I’d probably drop the insurance QB for another FLEX.

I Qb league, only need to draft one Qb.  The OP said normally rosters one Qb. Great job OP.

After the OP trust Lance is any good the OP said thy will drop to one QB.

One qb league never a need to draft two.   I say draft your Qb in the double digit rounds,  stream the field all is good=. Winner.

I could win a fantasy football championship in a one QB league with Carson Wentz as my starter.

In tonight's draft, I bet that I can win a fantasy football championship with three $1 QBs in a Superflex League.

Exactly this- besides, by October there will be a number of running back and wide receiver options that are showing out and available.

At least you admit he was a scrub corner.  That's kind of my point.  We have three 5 yard passes and 1 fluke long TD--all in the first game of preseason.

Perspective is called for.

The same thing consistently through the regular season.

No, your point was a busted coverage.  Quick education for you…busted coverage means the player didn’t get covered.  That’s different than a player trying to do his job getting beat badly by a much better player.  Make a note of that for future reference .  Also, in the future when you’re wrong…that won’t be very long for you…please don’t try to fix your mistake by acting like you meant what was correct.  Just own own it bro.

In case you missed it, and apparently you did, Lance has a great chance to be that double digit round QB that performs at a QB1 level.  You’re welcome for the education.

you are right.   he has a chance to be that.........but he also has a chance to be a big ol bust.

from what I've seen the odds are 50-50 right now.  (up from my last analysis based on a good week 1 exhibition game)

you need to remember, this is week 1 of exhibition.    what he faced this week wont be as good as what he faces week 1 regular season.  the defense is fairly Vanilla this time of year.   While its nice to get excited, he still didnt play exceptionally well last year when he was on the field during the regular season and I think that counts a bit more than week 1 exhibition in my weighting.

That said, he has looked better.  more decisive, better throwing motion.   more zip on the ball.   Accuracy and timing could have been better on a couple plays.

I still think hes a player who, if you pick based on his upside, you should have a second QB rostered.

Nothing wrong with a little insurance on a player who isnt a sure thing.

So it’s a good move to only roster one Qb?

No. I said I would roster 2 QB's....

Some of it is contingent on your league settings and all that.

You have a better chance of hitting on a top tier QB if you take two in the top say 14, and you have a backup for when you're usual starter gets hurt.  I always take at least one backup QB.  It's the most beneficial thing to do for your team.

Say you have a 15 team roster. Going off of having like the last pick in the draft- your roster would be something like:

Jamarr Chase/Travis Kelce/Zeke Elliott/David Montgomery/Jaylen Waddle/Diontae Johnson/ Amon Ra St. Brown/Chase Edmonds/Brandon Aiyuk/Cordarrelle Patterson/Trey Lance

With QBs like Joe Burrow/Stafford/Cousins/Carr....maybe even Aaron Rodgers hanging there yet.

All of those have a better chance of being a contributing member of your team week to week than Rondale Moore, or MVS or anything like that- furthermore what scenario would you play MVS over the wide receivers ahead of him? You wouldn't.

I'd rather have someone like Romeo Doubs on my roster when he goes for 120/2 in Week 1 than some mid-tier QB the likes of which I can easily pick up off of waivers after Week 1.

Your number of Championship trophies may vary.

Not if it’s a one Qb league. If you start two or play a super flex sure, but a one Qb league , to take two top 14 QBs you’re giving up depth at rb and Wr. Remember it’s a weekly game, one doesn’t even need to start a Qb that will finish in the top 14 to win  ff games, done it won it

Thanks.

If I drafted team a I would lose.  I would never ever draft a te before double digit rounds, not interested in Waddle as a 5th round pick with Hill on the team, Montgomery isn’t going to be the Bears rb1, it’s going to be a RBBC, DJ I have very little interest in with the Steelers lack of Qb play, in which Tomlin will coach his first losing season.  I don’t see St Brown in my leagues still around in round 7th,.

Thats not my team.

You're wrong. It's important to draft two good QBs in a 1 QB league and 3 or 4 in a 2QB league.  I know what I'm doing.

It's a hypothetical. Do you know what that word means?

And none of that answers the question- when would you start a receiver you drafted 5th or 6th over the other ones?

Might, haven’t gotten to the season yet , if the matchup is good as true, I might.  And I would have that available to me cause I didn’t roster two qbs.

Your strategy is idiotic.

You didn't like the one hypothetical (I assume you don't know what hypothetical means) so here's another- I'll use a different ranking of players:

Davante Adams/Deebo Samuel/Nick Chubb/J.K. Dobbins/Travis Etienne/Chris Godwin/Tyler Lockett/CEH/Allen Lazard/Trey Lance/Michael Carter/Noah Fant

QB- Lance

RB- Chubb, Dobbins, Etienne, Carter

WR- Adams, Samuel, Godwin, Lockett, Lazard

TE- Fant

K- LAST PICK

DEF- 2ND LAST PICK

In this scenario- what receiver are you picking that would ever play over any of that 5? What RB is taking over them this late? On a 15 man roster where you might play 2 RB, 2WR, and a Flex every week I have 9 dudes for 5 spots which allows me to carry a back up QB and back up tight end if I want.

Kirk Cousins or Tyler Allegier?
