Cut Down Day - For Whom the Bell Tolls

One of Davis-Price or Sermon will have value this year.  I assume it will be Sermon.

"I'd forecast Elijah Mitchell to be the stalwart here with Trey Sermon an active No. 2," [Peter] King wrote. "Both will get major chances, and if Mitchell gets hot early and stays healthy, he’ll be a 1,000-yard back in this offense."

Peter King is high if he thinks Sermon plays ahead of Jeff Wilson while Wilson and Eli are healthy.  Of course, the chances of those two staying healthy is pretty close to 0, so I'm sure he'll get to back into the correct outcome.

Sermon hasn't looked that good all preseason.  Dances too much.  Davis-Price certainly looks like the more authoritative runner, but I don't think he's got the other nuances of the position down yet.

If everyone is convinced that Mitchel, Sermon, or Davis-Price will be the break out SF back, that means it will end up being Wilson.

I'm not saying that Sermon will be THE MAN, but he's definitely intriguing.  I mean, he was a third round pick last year, as the coaching regime built their team through the draft.  He just got in the doghouse for being an entitled brat, and got basically benched for the year.  If Mitchell hadn't done as well as he had, I think we might have seen Sermon get back in the action, the way Aiyuk kind of turned things around late in the season.

Sermon was a featured RB at both Ohio State and Oklahoma; you don't get to be featured at those two schools if you don't have talent.

He hasn't been productive in limited preseason action, but everything you hear from the brass is how he has stood out in camp and practice for honing his craft in the ways they required of him.

So I think he's going to get every chance--and then if he still sucks, Davis-Price gets his chance.  Mitchell starts, for now, but Sermon will get his work, and if Mitchell falters or gets hurt...

Pretty much put up or shut up time for Sermon, so we'll see...

thing is, this is a franchise that sees RB's as disposable.   The starting RB changes pretty much every season.

for that reason I am not grabbing Eli at his ADP even tough I like him, and I like the run blocking of his team.

that said, I've seen no reason to Bench Eli, but Shanny is the person I dont trust in this scenario.  on a whim he could decide to make someone else the starter.  it seems to be a Shanny Trait.

I'm quite confident he will be for the 2 weeks he's healthy.

The Bears could pick up Preston Williams, Tyler Johnson, Laquon Treadwell, Isaiah Hodgins, and raise the level of the WR room to NFL caliber.

Tyler Johnson cut by the Bucs. What does this mean for Chris Godwin, is he on track to play week 1?

Tyler Johnson being cut has nothing to do with Godwin. Team had a deep WR room, someone was getting cut regardless of Godwins week 1 status.

Sure it could. So what is Godwin's week 1 status, since you seem so knowledgeable on the topic?

Nothing in my statement claimed I knew what Godwins week one status was. Try reading comprehension.

Again, never claimed to know Godwin’s week one status. Simply educating you on the fact that Tyler Johnson being cut means very little, if anything. Godwin is not on the PUP. So you have a WR room of Evans, Godwin, Gage, Julio Jones, Scotty Miller, Breshad Perriman, and sophomore Jaelon Darden.

you expected them to keep more than 7 receivers? 😂

I have no need for your unsolicited ‘education’ on any topic regarding Fantasy or Football in general. Make note of this and act accordingly…

I'm surprised Detroit cut Justin Jackson.  The #2 runningbacks for the chargers last year can't even make Detroit's roster.

Chargers nice spot for Michel, that hurts Spiller investors for this season anyway.

Preston Williams and Lynn Bowden cut by Miami.  Erik Ezukanma is becoming interesting in dynasty formats.

One of my old favs forced into action today with Miami.  I'm sure he'll never see the field, but they cut Robbie Chosen and elevated EZ from the practice squad.  Nice to see.
