TNF Discussion: Jaguars at Jets - Wk16

3rd and 10 with 35 seconds left.  A five yard gain here is a win.  It'll make a FG easier.

4th and about a foot or so.  Now Pederson has a decision.  Do they attempt the long-ish FG or do they go for it.

I'm not a big go-for-it guy, but I'd go for it here.

I'm thoroughly unimpressed with Zach Wilson.  Wasn't this guy supposed to be good at improvisation?

Well, he's no Tommy Maddox

Zach, now is the time to take a chance, bud!  Don't need to throw checkdowns with 10 seconds in the half.

I'm going to go get a carnitas plate and come back and spew more drivel in the second half.

That Hail Mary made no sense.  Zach Wilson can't throw the ball 65 yards in the wind and rain.

Zach Wilson doesn't have the arm to make those cross field throws.  He's putting way too much air under it.

I'd think we'd see Flacco, but I don't think Saleh can bench Wilson after the whole, "instant coffee" speech.

Is Ryan Leaf finally off the hook? He could be!

That's why you just spy and play man.  This guy Streveler obviously doesn't have much accuracy.  Jags are doing him a favor by playing zone.

I don't get how Engram has what looks like grass stains all over the back of his jersey.  I guess that's from the rain and paint?

Jags were able to execute the tap back on the punt without spazzing out and falling into the end zone.

This is it.  16-3 with 5 minutes left.  This is where the Rams/Raiders and Saints/Bucs went off the rails.

Damn.  Jags defender accidentally lionel Messi'ed the ball out of Garrett Wilson's possession.

I just realized, in one of my leagues I have 4 players going and 22 points.  And I'm playing against Evan Engram.  I guess that's it for that team.

  1. Trevor Lawrence
  2. Zonovan Knight
  3. Zay Jones
  4. Greg Zeurlein

That throw to get that ball back to the line of scrimmage as he was about to be planted might've been Trevor's best throw of the night.

The trick to pass rushing a qb who is a threat to run is to maintain your rush lanes.  Jags obviously have never coached that because their ends continually collapse down and give Streveler room to run.

That D-lineman, Smoot, immediately grabbed his achilles after going down.  Bummer.

This should be a fun one.  Two teams I rarely watch.  Upstart Jets team with a great defense missing the QB to make it all work against an improving team that appears to be overcoming dysfunction with the supposed generational talent.

This is a weird game.

  1. Zach Wilson coming back to start.  He's not good, but he should be on his A-game tonight given that he got humbled.  If he is going to have any kind of career, he needs to respond positively to that experience.
  2. Jags have been bad on the road most of the year.  Except they put up a good showing in Tennessee two weeks ago.
  3. Trevor Lawrence has been nothing short of sensational the last few weeks.  Now he has a tough task in front of him... Absorb all that praise he's been getting after beating the Cowboys and still bring the same motivation and intensity that's been fueling his performance the last few weeks.
  4. Jets have a perpetual chip on their shoulder, and their fighting for a playoff spot (as is Jacksonville).  Let's assume they assume the identity of their leaders.  That means they'll embrace the challenge.
  5. Jags suspect o-line against very good defensive line.

I think the Jets should be lined up to bring their A+ game tonight, but the Jags should have their B+ game.  In my eyes, it all comes down to Zach Wilson.  He's an absolute wild card in terms of what he can do.  If he has any game at all the Jets should win this.  I'm just not convinced he's very good.

I guess, Jets should win, but they'll need Trevor Lawrence to come back down to earth and probably overcome some Zach Wilson mistakes.  Total crap shoot.

How funny would it be to see Brady go back to the AFC East next year to play for the Jets?
