This work ethic argument aside - no politician will solve that if true - this issue seems symptomatic of a larger issue. If you couldn’t use illegals you would have to pay more, give benefits, etc.

Doesn’t it seem like this same issue would apply to any number of industries who do work outside the US.

In any case there is no getting around cheaper labor being taken advantage of by employers. The toothpaste isn’t going back in the tube.

Cannabis is a schedule 1 federally. Which means banking is impossible. Companies are extremely hard to navigate. This is what they set up in California 

even the most legit of legit companies can’t do anything by the books

That is fair. I think at that point the pot industry would just be absorbed by giant corporations. But who knows.

This issue of not being on the books has been a big problem in WA state. Pot shops are forced to be cash only and are therefore easy targets for criminals. This is a weird spot we are in where it is legal but not fully integrated.

I do think there is something to that. I don’t know weed like I do beers but I think it’s a much smaller market and would take generations to achieve the level where you have places filled like you do like say tap rooms.

Paying out a wage to get Americans doing these jobs would make the final product cost prohibitive ultimately.
