patweisers44 815 Posted June 8, 2023 Stories came out that Isiah threw that game because he owed a lot of money to local bookies. He rushes to practically grab the ball out of the refs hands...then stupid laimbeer backs away from the inbound pass. Ugh...bad flashbacks.
Thornton Melon 605 Posted June 8, 2023 Great play, but the Celts lost in the finals to the Lakers that year

Gepetto 1,288 Posted June 9, 2023 Yes both Michael Jordan and Lebron James had bigger defensive plays in the Finals in the last minute or so. Jordan stripped the ball from Malone in the final seconds and came down the court and made The Shot, his last shot as a Bull to win the Bulls their 6th Championship. Lebron's Cavs beat the stacked Golden State Warriors in the greatest series comeback in Finals history.
Gepetto 1,288 Posted June 9, 2023 Oh and Magic did this against the Celtics to win the finals.
seafoam1 2,799 Posted June 9, 2023 Jordan was so much better defensively.

I do kinda remember it this way actually. I wonder where this supposed Pistons-Bulls "rivalry" come from then. In the 80s, I didn't ever realize we had a rivalry with the Bulls. You don't have a rivalry with the various bugs that are getting splattered on your windshield on your drive to the Celtics matchup. You hardly notice them. To get the Bulls to that level of frothing-at-the-mouth pissed at us, I always figured we must have sh*t them out like five years in a row. Now I re-learn we split the task of eliminating their non-competitive asses with the Celtics. The Bulls were a second rate non-threat to either of the real teams and full of themselves. They were never anything more than one of the low-seeded, barely significant also-rans we may or may not have stomped along the way before we played the Celtics. From the Pistons' perspective, the 80s Bulls were never a threat, they were easily vanquished. Chuck Daly had them figured out. The rival was Boston.
