planet K2-18b shows potential signs of life

Recommended Posts

its almost cringey to talk about this these days since the liberals will say something like "this disproves the Bible / God / religion" which is wrong, but scientists think this planet K2-18b might possibly show signs of life.  the planet is about 2.8x the size of Earth, maybe a "Super Earth or "Mini-Neptune".  the odds of life are still considered very very low but its at the moment the #1 candidate for life.

Earth is the #1 candidate for life.

I've never understood why life on another planet would in any way impact the existence of God.

Regardless, this is cool stuff.  Every time I see pictures from the JWST I'm just amazed.

I can’t remember who said it but what’s the quote? There’s either no aliens and we’re all alone or there’s lots of aliens, and both are equally terrifying.

The sign of life is DHS... which is produced on earth through marine creature farts

The sign of terrestrial life.  On another planet, life could be built by any blocks and look like anything.  It is all completely unknown.  There are elements and chemicals and molecules that we don’t know and on another planet, those could be what carbon is to us.

Great reference!

If we do the math, we are most certainly not alone.  What kind of life that might be is another question.  I would also note that we have seen here on this planet what happens when two groups meet, one always ends up dominating the other..... its part and parcel of how organisms operate at every level.

Good post. I was just gonna make a sparky remark about the OP, but this caught my eye as I've thought the same things myself. Since we as a species have no real idea what's out there, we also have no idea what it looks like or is made of. I doubt the periodic table is inclusive of every element in the universe.

Scientists say we’ve mapped about 5% of the universe and that 5% includes 200,000 galaxies.  MAYBE the periodic table includes all the elements in the Milky Way galaxy, but I think it’s foolish to believe the entire universe is represented by the periodic table.
