Big victory for Democrats. Once again Kavanaugh joined the Chief Justice and the 3 liberals.

You cannot project the way liberals think on to others, that is not really going to work. When SCOTUS judges rule in a way that feeds your bias you might think "wow, they actually did the right thing"....but in reality they usually do the right thing, and sometimes the right thing does not fit into your world view.

This has nothing to do with restricting black votes.  Terrible headline.  Race-baiting spin on display.

Of course.

Yea Alabama wasn’t trying to do anything like that. Of course not.

I don't think they were trying to restrict the black vote. They were trying to break it up and dilute it. Two separate things.

Can you explain how the black votes was being restricted.  Nothing in redistricting has even a remote impact on voting.  It has nothing to do with restricting anyone's vote.  What it impacts is how those votes are represented.  The headline is a boldface lie.

When black votes are underrepresented they are effectively restricted. I stand by my title.

In any case this is a big defeat for Republicans.

You may be right. I think the notion that black people will only vote Democrat feels a little racist, but maybe you have a point.

So be it. It is a good thing when the powerful are impeded. It's all I have ever asked for.

No, their vote was not restricted.  If you want to alledge their representation was diluted, that is a different point but does not have the impact that your false headline does.   You love you some authoritarian race-baiting spin.

It’s not racist to say that in Alabama the vast majority of blacks vote Democrat and that Alabama Republicans recognize this and attempted to restrict it, that’s just the facts.

Perhaps.  We know that when we point out how groups committ crimes or are incercerated or struggle in school and make a statement of fact that this is often portrayed as racist, apparently some truths are not suitable.

If this inhibited political power pursuits, then I am all for it.

More ignorant race baiting from the left. Go figure.

It is actually standard politican matriculations, by both parties.  Politics is dirty.....dirty.....dirty......

It is refreshing to see Democrats now care about represenation though.

This has to do with gerrymandering for Republican seats just like any other state does with its dominant party. If those voters tended to vote R, nobody in Alabama would care. This has nothing to do with race anymore than the fact that seat is going to flip D.

It may well be diluted, no more so than Republican votes are diluted in Democrat controlled and gerrymandered states. The race baiting part though is the only way to get the court to step in. Hey, the left won this one. But there should be no question as to why things get viewed through a racial lens when that is the wedge used.
