I didn't know Tetris could end

If I did, I could have set aside a fifteen hour block or whatever to do so. Once upon a time I was really good at that game and regularly got deep into the top speed level.

He's probably not the first person to beat the game, just has parents who think it's important enough to make a major case about it.  "Look at me!!!"

His dad is dead.

Plus, a game that's been around that long, if someone beats it, they let people know.

EASporsts gives out scholarships for things like that.

Up til now, only computers could beat it.

Yeah, it's been around for forever.  I never knew there was a scholarship for it and back in the day, I doubt there was or if there was, it wasn't widely known.  I HIGHLY doubt this kid was the first.

I wasn't a fake astronaut when I was 13, which is a good thing, because if I had been, I might have gotten blown up on board the Challenger.

But yeah, give my 13 year-old self some fake astronaut diapers, I imagine I could have went toe-to-toe with this kid playing tetris for 36 straight hours.

Are you kidding me. Tetris came out after Donkey Kong.  People have been all about beating the games. If someone else beat it we'd know about it.

And that kid is levels above the intelligence of the reporter.

Mom said he knows when to put the controller down, and half the time he goes outside to ride his bike like any other kid. That news reporter b!tch sucks balls.

I don't think anybody knew that the game glitched out and froze up at 999,999 until now.

Then it was high score before that.  Just Google it. AI did it before the kid. People knew.

Ah... so he attempted to do it because he knew in advance it could be done. Before AI, nobody went at it that long, maybe even the creators didn't know about the glitch.

Donkey Kong came out 3 years before Terri's.  Yeah, I know people have been always trying to beat games, but in the 80's, posting it online and on social media, was a bit hard.  LOL

Also, you weren't going to get the media to care about it enough to report it and home video of it wasn't really that likely either.

That's really my only point here.

Yeah well if you cared to look there are world championships held and all kind of records kept. Home video is exactly how they did it in the 80s. FFS.

Yeah, because EVERY family had one, right?  LOL

When were you born, 1995?  LOL

Not everyone knew of any "World Championships" for these things in 80's.  I knew a ton of kids who beat all kinds of games.  It was just something you did.  I'm not saying millions of kids beat Tetris, but I'm sure it was done.  Hey, great for this kid who did it... good for him.  Good for all them.   I'm just saying that I doubt he's the first.

NES is Nintendo I think.   Maybe they changed a bunch of the code and such from the original.

So this is if a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound type of argument?  You can say that about anything.

I'm sure someone climbed to the top of Mount Everest before Edmund Hillary, humans had been in the area of hundreds of thousands of years!

We should just stop keeping track of records because not everyone had a video camera in 1985.  Call Guinness Book of World Records and tell them to shut it down!

It's reaching the actual kill screen vs. in a tourney reaching the earlist fraction of a line getting to 999,999. Not the same.
