2021 NFL Draft - Top 5 QBs

Recommended Posts

Quote

1.01 - Trevor Lawrence - Was supposed to be a generational talent
1.02 - Zach Wilson - Defensive (terrible coach)
1.03 - Trey Lance - who knows?
1.11 - Justin Fields - Da Bears
1.15 - Mac Jones - Defensive HC that hates QBs

Maybe it's time to blame the coaching and not the players?

I have been saying this since Rick Mirer got the shaft.

Lawrence has his moments but look like a HOF for Clemson and streaky in the pros.

He is still absolutely a franchise QB, imo.

Keeps getting worse. Now even Lawrence is a bum. No surprise though, it is the Jags

We have all the proof we need NFL teams needs to stop reaching for QBs

Every time I see the Jags play I think they have no identity at all. The OL is mediocre, they don’t run the ball efficiently or have any elite receiving weapons, the D isn’t dominant. Lawrence looks mediocre but the team around him overall is probably worse than say Cleveland.

On pure talent I dont understand how its a bad setup.  You have a Clemson buddy and 1st round RB in Etienne.  You have a rookie 1st round WR.  You have Kirk a 2nd round WR.  Gabe Davis isnt very good but they went out and paid him some money.  Engram is a former 1st round TE.

Their Oline may be average at best.  Their defensive front has talent.  Thr defense held Mia with Tua to 20 pts.  The Browns to 18. Both losses.

No I agree they dont have a real identity.   But they have players.  The owner called this thr most talented Jags roster ever assembled during training camp.

Former Titans GM Floyd Reese said years ago on a radio show, in essence, “There isn’t a QB shortage in the NFL.  There is a GM and coaching shortage.”

He went on to say that there are loads of QBs who are smart enough, athletic enough and competitive enough to lead winning NFL teams, but not enough GMs and coaches who have what it takes to build a proper team around those guys.  So, he said, most teams are looking for the same exact guys with the same measurables.

I don’t care where the players were drafted. The Jags have a below average OL, an above average but not great RB, a lower end receiving corps, and an okay TE who’s used as a receiver mostly out of desperation. Their skills group is definitely sub league average and may be bottom 10.
