jerryskids 6,799 Posted June 20, 2024 We've discussed this before: nuclear fusion investment is great but it's decades away if ever, so it is more "research" than "development" for a while. We should definitely do it. But I disagree with Tim's take that we should leverage every possible resource to do it, because frankly, current fission technology is pretty darn good. Sling it out there 400 pounds at a time. of course that may end up leaving a bunch of radioactive crap in orbit creating navigation hazards, if they can't get it completely free of earth's gravity.
