Kids For Cash Judge

Biden granted clemency to former Pennsylvania judge Michael Conohan, convicted in a kick back scheme that saw him receive millions to funnel children to a private prison.  Wow. That’s worse than anything anyone did on Jan 6.  Wayyy worse.

Governor Shapiro, a Jew, finds it disgusting too.  If Kamala wasn't a bigot she may have beat Trump with him as her VP.

Biden's home town too.  People there must be proud.

Yeah, just this one.

I'm not arguing that it's right, but it seems what happened is that clemency was given based entirely on a set of guidelines without any regard to the crime.  Fit the guidelines, get clemency.  Just posting for those who are interested in the "how" of it all.

Politico

The White House commuted the sentence of the judge at the center of a notorious “kids-for-cash” scandal without considering the specifics of his case, beyond whether it fit into a broad set of criteria, an administration official told POLITICO on Friday.

Conahan was convicted in 2011 of funneling juveniles to for-profit detention centers in exchange for more than $2 million in kickbacks. He was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy charges.

At the time, the U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania called the scandal “the worst in Pennsylvania’s history,” forcing the state to vacate thousands of juvenile convictions.

But the White House did not consider any of those details when weighing the charges against Conahan or the cases of other individuals who received commutations on Thursday, said the administration official, who was granted anonymity to discuss the clemency process. Instead, the administration granted commutations en masse to all those who fit a broader set of parameters, touting the move as a record-setting act of mercy carried out just before the holidays.

Those commutations were extended to people on Covid-related home confinement after federal authorities verified that their offenses were nonviolent and not a sex offense or terrorism related, the official said. They were also all considered a low risk for recidivism, had not engaged in any violent or gang-related activity while in prison and had been on good behavior for at least a year. None of the commutations granted were individual decisions, the official added, and none who met the criteria were excluded.

Well that’s a pretty dumb excuse.

“Don’t worry, we didn’t think about the decision at all!”

Well, that makes it a little more palatable, but not much. And he did serve 13 years of the 17 year sentence...

Still, I don't think it is right and they should have had someone look at the cases individually to weed out some like these, even if they are outliers.

The sentence was light to begin with and this POS is already on home confinement because of Covid. GTFO.

The Biden Crime Family were probably benefiting from the scheme, just like Hunter Pardon benefited from Ukraine

I am confident he will be properly welcomed back into his community by those he wrongfully sentenced, those who were educated in an institutionalized environment and who are now in their twenties and thirties.

What are you hoping for here? Nobody is defending the judge. For-profit prisons suck, and this is one of the reasons why. The judge is scum, Biden should not have commuted his sentence. This is easy. You're gonna have to build your strawman solo, none of the 'libs' are gonna help.

You have to remember that tardcore is very lonely man with no self esteem.  That's why he comes here looking for "wins", beats his chest about winning, seeks validation from strangers, etc.  His entire life revolves around getting some sort of self worth from this forum.

He was hoping someone would defend this pardon so he could argue with them.  Didn't work out the way he thought.
