Nothing’s happened yet. Whatever deal Trump tries to make with Putin will have to be agreed to by Ukraine and the surrounding countries.

No, because Trump has already said he wants NATO troops, with the exception of the U.S., to guarantee the peace, and wants European money, with the exception of the U.S., to help rebuild Ukraine. So if he wants these things then Europe gets to have a say.

I’m optimistic…that Ukraine is focked. TBH Zelensky deserves blame, there was a good chance Trump was going to win and it was clear his plan was to let Russia have what they want. Zelensky should have hedged his bet and cut a deal because now he has no leverage.

Reality is he had no leverage from the start.  Russia was going to grind and grind away until there was nothing left.  Other that a few areas Ukraine cities have been leveled and will take decades to rebuild.

When a stronger foe has zero concern about loss of their men it is a frightening situation.  Russia was never going to stop even if it ruined their own country in the process.

As Ukraine stated this war started in 2014 and Obama did nothing about it then. That emboldened Russia.

Biden told Zalensky in February 2022 that Ukraine's bid to become part of NATO was in its own hands....implicitly asserting they could apply and would be accepted.

This he did, after Putin stated in December 2021 that he wanted legal guarantees that Ukraine would not join NATO.

Then later, after Biden realized what he had done, in July 2023 all the sudden stated Ukraine was not ready to join NATO.   I guess he thought he could undo what he did, he was wrong,
