Tim is never ever wrong.   just ask him.

He predicted Trump would win in both 2016 and 2024.   The guy is on POINT!

He could just bet against the US and push it all in on other countries.  International is up 11 % YTD.

Seriously though, hopefully everyone is smart enough to be diversified and have exposure there.

Sorry, no.  timmy has convinced me to start stockpiling goods and panic.  the world is coming to an end.  it's all over.  The devastation will be total and complete.  And it's too late to change things.  Just like his climate change soap box.   We are all doomed.  Hide your children, hide your wives.  The complete destruction of everything we have enjoyed to this point is here.

Yeah no. I haven’t written anything like this. If you’re going to mock what I wrote at least be accurate about it.

And screw you too; I never bet against the USA. You probably would.

More. We now have a nationwide slump:

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/05/06/trump-tariffs-hit-us-exports-import-covid-level-event.html

If you want to have the position that it’s fine for you, you’re not going to need any of this stuff, that’s your prerogative: this jot fine for American families. Nor for the truck drivers, or port workers or so many other aspects of the economy about to be crushed. And in the end, if it continues, it won’t be fine for you either.

Totally screwed means a long lasting recession, perhaps another Great Depression (let’s hope not.) It doesn’t mean the end of America. It doesn’t mean hoard items. I never wrote any of that. You’re the lying sack of sheet not me.

Trump is putting those illiterate truck drivers that Biden let in that can’t speekee de English out of work so the legit truck drivers should be fine.

No thanks. I’m gonna continue to write what I think about the tariffs. If you don’t want to read it, put me on ignore. Your obtuseness in attacking me is idiotic, but that’s your choice.

Oh I enjoy reading it.  It gives insight into the liberal mind.  We need that here.  When you lie however, which you are starting to do more and more(again) it will be called out.  If you dont like that, put ME on ignore big fella.

First off, when I write about tariffs it’s not from the perspective of a liberal. I have a very libertarian view on this issue; it used to be the overwhelming view of most conservatives. Times have changed. But it’s certainly not a liberal view.

Second, on serious issues like this I never deliberately lie. Sometimes I get my facts wrong in error and when that happens I try to acknowledge that. I don’t mind when people correct me; if I’m wrong I’m actually grateful for it. My larger points remain intact.

I think the poor guy is in real panic mode at this point.   We should probably ease up a bit.   It can get a little scary when this happens.  We have seen it on the board before.  Panic can be a very real thing.   I will back off too.   Just need to let the guy deal with his issues and not goad him.

If I were China I wouldn’t even start negotiations for a month or two. Why let Trump off the hook before US consumers even feel the higher prices?

Hell no.  I want another meltdown like Torridmuhammad when he told us being here illegally isn't a crime and then tried to defend it

For a lot of people I'd agree.  But this is they guy who on a bunch of occasions committed to only posting in his own threads and once he realized no one desired to talk to him had to start polluting all the other threads again, and taunting anyone who pointed that out.  It's a guy who was suspended 10+ times at FBGs but never learned anything.  He also supports pedophilia and is a welcher.  Fock him.

China’s economy is doing very badly. They are feeling the effects before we are- there are already protests. They’re in trouble.

But I don’t think we should assume from this that they will “surrender” to us, whatever that means, or even seek a deal on our terms (which are at this point unstated,) Xi runs a dictatorship; he can afford, for the time being, to ignore public discontent (Trump can’t.) And there is face involved as well, which is, culturally, even more important to China than to most other countries. This could go on for years.

Trump can't?  What's going to happen to him, not get reelected? 🤣

It's genuinely hard for me to have sympathy or empathy for guys like Tim. Guys that are repeatedly shown that they are incorrect. I mean, his freak outs and concern are valid feelings, so I will give him that.

lol don’t feel bad for me. Im not panicking. Also, though I won’t discuss details here, I’m personally doing very well in this economy and will do even better if Trump’s ridiculous tax cuts go through (and they will.) I just don’t like what’s happening with the country.

Trump isn’t worried about elections but Republicans are. Trump does care about his legacy and about public opinion, probably more than any other modern politician I can think of.

China's economy is partially doing badly because they work in HORRID conditions. So much more to do with this than tariffs.

I suspect the average Chinese citizen is going to accept a crashing economy better than US consumers deal with higher prices and empty shelves after being promised lower costs.

In the end Trump will make some minor face saving deal and declare Big Victory.

None of that means he can't wait   His actions thus far this term are all long term plays.  He's focused on what people think three years from now, not three weeks.  That you don't see this just shows how little you understand.

This made me smile too. I don’t need your sympathy or empathy. Me personally I try to be empathetic with most people who aren’t total jerks. But perhaps you think I am one.

As far as my “feelings” go: in the last 24 hours I have posted a lot of news items about this subject, mainly about the ports, imports, and the effects which are about to hit the American consumer and the economy. These aren’t my feelings; they’re what’s being reported. But of course feel free to draw your own conclusions.

This shows a complete lack of understanding of how Trump operates.  He doesn't play chess.  He doesn't think 3 years in the future.  He is not smart enough.  He does whatever he feels like that day and says whatever pops into his head without any thought of the ramifications.

Just with the tariffs, we saw the "reciprocal" tariffs and then they got "paused" after the market responded accordingly.  He really has no plan except to create chaos and hope to make a deal.

Yeah.   was kind of my point.  Its not fair to pile on someone who is as concerned as he is.   It will only make things worse.

His struggle with the truth is a fair target however.

I understand you think it’s true. I also think it’s a ridiculous assumption, given all the waffling back and forth he’s done already. Trump’s long term views are extremely vague and almost non-existent, and the few he’s got are extremely contradictory. He thinks the tariffs will earn great wealth for the USA, they might even replace income taxes. He also thinks they will end the trade deficits (which he stupidly believes are bad for us). He also thinks they will lead to manufacturing in the USA. He also thinks they will lead to countries lining up to beg for new trade deals which he will consider granting if they kiss his ass enough. These ideas contradict each other; they can’t all happen (in point of fact none of them will happen.)
