MSNBC’s evening line-up may soon look quite different from what die-hard viewers have come to expect.

The NBCUniversal-backed cable network is expected to move the trio of Symone Sanders-Townsend, Alicia Menendez and Michael Steele to its 7 p.m. weekday slot Tuesday through Friday, according to two people familiar with the matter, and the group on Mondays will lead two hours, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The move will have direct implications for Joy Reid, the anchor who currently fills 7 p.m. She is expected to host her last show on MSNBC this week.

She is not a homophobe. Rachel Maddow had her host her show when she was out before Reid got her own show and Maddow wouldn't do that if she believed that. Plus Reid had Jonathan Capehart often host her show in her absense and he wouldn't have done that if he thought she was anti-gay.

This is good news.

Few people have spewed as much racism and hate as this repugnant piece of filth.  Its a shame it could not happen sooner.  She had years to preach hatred and division.

Talking heads ranging from Jake Tapper to Joy Reid have failed to stop the ratings bleeding at CNN and MSNBC - as did a move from MSNBC that brought back Rachel Maddow to TV sets five times a week, at least for the first 100 days of the new administration.

MSNBC lagged to just 45,000 viewers during the day and just 63,000 during the peak hours of night, lowest rating in the channel's history - with the Maddow experiment failing to attract viewers.

In terms of percentages, though, the figures were even more alarming; MSNBC essentially lost nearly half of its 25-54 audience since this time last year, continuing a 65 percent slide seen since the election.

In primetime, the network's numbers are down 41 percent from 2024. When it came to programming delivered during the day, the percentage dip was the same.

Given the timing and recent events surrounding, the new Nielsen numbers appear to show that relationship continuing in spades.

I’m never around at that time of day to watch Joy Reid. I enjoyed her commentary as part of the group on special events. 

I really like Steele and Sanders though. Both are smart people. Steele in particular has centrist views on most issues that I identify with.

 From 2007 to 2009 Joy Reid authored over a dozen homophobic posts attempting to out Charlie Crist as gay, Reid also attacked & mocked him for being gay. She repeatedly referred to him as "Miss Charlie and Charlene" and tagged multiple posts about him under "gay politicians."

If that was true then why did Rachel Maddow frequently have Reid host her show when she was absent? And why did Jonathan Capehart who is gay host Reid's show if she really is homophobe?

Both things could be true. I suspect that Reid was, at the time, attacking Crist’s hypocrisy of hiding his homosexuality while supporting the Republican platform which was anti-gay. Im not personally a fan of such attacks on closeted gay conservatives but for a time they were pretty popular for some on the left.

It is true...but she was sorry after being outed.  And she is a Dem so her apology was accepted right away.
