My understanding has always been as follows....

If the player is NOT currently in your teams organization, then they had to have accumulated 1 at bat or 1 out as a pitcher (.1 IP)... so if they were called up at some point but never got off the bench, you are SOL.  For the main draft, If they are a new addition to your MLB team, you can draft them with the reasonable expectation that they will accrue stats in the coming year.  Finally, if they were a spring training invitee and wind up in your MLB teams minor league system, you are allowed to hold onto them again with the reasonable expectation that they could be called up (you're costing yourself a roster spot in the process).

I may be wrong about the last part in regards to being allowed to hold a player who is sitting in the minors.

That’s fair.

lake Bachar was the guy in question. He was on the padres active roster but didn’t pitch

I would say though face one batter

Didn't really want to draft Smith, but with Riley out indefinitely and me having no other 3B option, I had to take one.

I considered a plethora of pitchers at 1.12.... I guess I was more in the mood to roll the dice on Misiorowski, maybe as a fellow ski 😆 than the safety of Woo who I was ultimately deciding between

I would assume that Mis would be shutdown some time in late-August or early-September...  Thrown around 90 IP this year after 97 last year, which was a career high...

I was torn on how to approach the supplemental.   I have a lot of offensive (take that anyway you want) players that have flexibility, so I can move them around and fill my lineup day to day.   Contreras, Burleson, Edman, Donavan, Gorman all create good options at all IF, C, and OF spots.  The issue is none possess the power/RBI I need.

when I looked at my pitching corp it became obvious this is where I needed help.  Helsley and Shelby Miller were providing saves but Miller is probably lost for the season now.  No one else on my roster had more than 3 saves. Megill should solidify that.

Rodon was a no brainer.  Consistent top of the rotation guy to pair with Sonny Gray.  Adds the strikeouts I lack.   Hopefully Alcantara gets traded to a c tend or and has a solid second half.  It would give me a pretty good rotation to compete with some of you bums.

This is the first time in YEARS that I've had a team solid top to bottom. My hitting has been solid despite zero production from my Supplemental 1st rounder (Alvarez), and I'm getting all-star seasons out of Boyd/Ray/Mize that weren't exactly expected, so I decided to plug the giant hole in my roster, relief pitching.

We will see on Misiorowski. Woo was probably the better choice, though I have not heard anything about him going back to the minors especially with the Brewers in the thick of the playoff race.

Agustin Ramirez.... I didn't think i'd pick a catcher with no shot at Cal Raleigh but then I started taking a closer look at Ramirez and the fact he starts almost every day with a lot of starts at DH. At first glance, you'd think Will Smith would be the guy but Ramirez did not start for the Marlins until April 21st. Since April 21st, he's played in 71 games while Smith has played in only 55 in that time (no injuries I don't think). Take away the stats smith accumulated in the games he played prior to the 21st and Ramirez has the advantage in a lot of categories. If I was going to spend a pick on a catcher, rather than simply platoon Jansen and Thaiss, then it had to be a guy who plays almost everyday.

If anyone is still in need of a SS, I'd be willing to part with Swanson for a starting pitcher.  Make me an offer, or let me know that you're interested and I'll make you one.

eagerly awaiting the Rays to trade away 3-4 players making them no longer exclusive while adding a middle reliever before the deadline 😆

between Cruz, Adames and Tampa in house options I'm good at SS.

The only thing I am really looking for may be a closer if Tampa doesn't move Fairbanks before the deadline. But I don't put an emphasis on saves so I will likely wait and see what they do before deciding if I want to trade any of my starting pitchers for a closer.
