Trump Recession Thread (aka Trumpcession)

Recommended Posts

The U.S. economy is headed into a period of noticeably slower growth thanks to the tariff impact on inflation and, by consequence, consumer spending, according to Goldman Sachs.

Economists at the Wall Street firm expect gross domestic product to rise at just a 1.1% annual pace through 2025 “as the growing real income drag from tariff-related price increases offsets the boost from easier financial conditions,” Goldman’s chief economist Jan Hatzius said in a note to clients.

Poor liberals still can't afford eggs even though the prices are down under Trump.

GM reported a 35% drop in net income for the quarter ending in June, falling from $2.9 billion in the previous year to just $1.9 billion. Adjusted earnings per share also dropped to $2.53 compared to $3.06 a year earlier. Revenue declined by nearly 2% to $47 billion. The company had already warned in May of potential losses between $4 billion and $5 billion due to the tariffs.

GM’s operating income was hit by $1.1 billion directly due to the tariffs. Since about half of the vehicles it sells in the U.S. are imported — especially from Mexico and South Korea — the tariffs had an immediate effect on supply chains and overall costs.

GM is restructuring its operations in China, which could reduce or end its importation to the US, based on Tariffs and market conditions. Winning.

Link?  I think you're conflating 2 issues.

GM announced last year that they were restructuring in China due to lack of revenue and net income.  Had nothing to do with tariffs.

https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/general-motors/2025/02/14/gm-closing-factory-in-china-restructuring/78654470007/

Also this plant built cars for China, they are not imported to US from China.

Is there something new you heard or are you just confused.  I couldn't find anything in the NY Post, was it on 770?

So good that GM is getting away from China. Tariffs are working.

GM announced this restructure before the tariffs.  But we should want GM selling cars in China.  Come on man.

So now you want to do business with China? You said Triump was kissing China's asss before. Make up your mind?

We're either all in or out.

I feel the country has found its footing again as the world leader. 12 years of Obama and Biden greatly diminished our standing.

Agree, things are finally stabilizing, we're removing all of the criminals that Biden let in, we're finally feared and respected again.

Trump is the President of Peace. No more fake wars!

I remember very well the clamoring from liberals about corporate profits being way too high and how horrible it was.  GM reports lower profits and now liberals are screaming like someone stomped on their foot.  Jeez I wish you guys would make up your minds.

Growth below average. Markets lagging well behind pace of Obama, Biden, Trump 1.0 at this point in their presidencies.

Very mediocre.

Yes.  We can’t dismiss the impact that mission had and will have. A tremendous and effective show of strength.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Inflation rose last month to its highest level since February as President Donald Trump's sweeping tariffs are pushing up the cost of a range of goods, including furniture, clothing, and large appliances.

Consumer prices rose 2.7% in June from a year earlier, the Labor Department said Tuesday, up from an annual increase of 2.4% in May. On a monthly basis, prices climbed 0.3% from May to June, after rising just 0.1% the previous month.

There are 80+ mosques in Philadelphia. For some reason Muslims have decided they can shut down streets to pray. Liberals are ok at this. They are brown for the most part and vote dem.   But a Latin mass? Send in the gestapo.

You know what’s helpful? Historical data. Here, we have an article talking about inflation being higher than any month since FEBRUARY. LOL. 4 months of data.

Take a look at this chart and try to focus on the inflation rates beginning in Q2 of 2021 when liberal policies started to take effect after Biden took office. Liberals are stupid.

What is stupid is blaming inflation on "liberal policies".  You don't even know what caused the inflation.

Wrong.

The Inflation Reduction Act was signed into law in August 2022.  The inflation rate in August 2022 was 8.3%.

From August to December of 2022 the inflation rate dropped from 8.3% to 6.5%.  By June of 2023 we hit 3%.  June of 2024 was 3%.  Election day was 2.7%

Every time I watch this it gets more disgusting as to how he was allowed to get away with all this kissing and groping women and children.  The first young lady looks mortified.  And this is just what was caught on camera.  Imagine all the groping that went unseen!
