I do a pool with co-workers where we draft every tournament. I have said numerous times that all gambling on golf does is give you a bigger list of guys to hate.

That's why I passed on JT in the first round.  Sure, he's playing great now, but he focked me at the Masters.

Seems like the LIV guys, with the exception of Bryson, all lost a lot of drive or whatever after getting the big paychecks.  Even Niemann, who is uber talented, doing well, and should be an up and comer, sucks in majors.

I have nothing against Niem.  But when Phil said he was thr best player in the world I rolled my eyes.  And then sort of root against him for the laughs.   Guy is 30 to 1 in a tier by himself basically on the books. No idea how he is 30 to 1 when guys like HOV and Lowry are 50 or 60 to 1.  Niem had and continues to do jack shlt in majors.  Its why LIV doesnt matter.  Hes great over there.  Probably because hes one of the only top players who still grinds.  Doesnt translate what so ever when he plays in majors.  Yet people continue to back him like hes the next thing.  He may have the least value of anyone on the betting board  these days.

I don't think Phil pumping up a young LIV player is anything to take seriously or to feel like you have to cheer against him. Everyone knows Bryson is the best player on LIV and when it comes to major championships, there are probably a handful of guys I would still be looking at over Niemann, including Rahm, Hatton, Reed... maybe even Brooks... maybe Cam Smith at Augusta or an Open. 

Not to rehash the entire LIV debate but it already succeeded far beyond what the initial LIV haters claimed it would. Top names in the game went to LIV when it was only supposed to be the Mickelsons and Garcias...  It forced the PGA to reshape itself pretty dramatically with all these elevated events and larger purses after it claimed it didn't have the extra $... "team golf" was supposed to be a joke but now we have the TGL headlined by Tiger and Rory in partnership with the PGA and backed by ESPN and it's nothing more than an extra money grab for the top players and their friends. 

I think it was Charley Hoffman? who made some comments in regards to certain guys doing extra stuff (TGL) and when Rory was asked about the comment, he said something to the effect of how he assumed they were talking about him and at the end of the day, each player has to do what they feel is best for themselves and their families. Funny how that was not the sentiment when guys were leaving for LIV.... 

 

Okay, i'll get down off the soapbox and back to the PGA Championship
