MAHA report cites nonexistent studies, Leavitt blames it on “formatting issues”

Recommended Posts

Maybe the original studies are stored in a mine somewhere in Pennsylvania?  :dunno:

It's 2025 and you don't know how to get around paywalls?

Guess they don't teach that at MIT

Not when I went there 40 years ago.

Where did you go to college, gutter?

I went to a state school nowhere near the prestige of MIT.  Goes to show how unimportant prestige is.

Really?  By all accounts Jerry is quite successful and you struggle in life.  You picked a bad example to illustrate that.

You're in debt, work from home loser with no plans for retirement.  Jerry is already retired playing golf everyday.

Also, why do you think it's OK to steal news articles but you frown on stealing TV shows?  They didn't teach that at your state school?

Some of the citations that underpin the science in the White House’s sweeping “MAHA Report” appear to have been generated using artificial intelligence, resulting in numerous garbled scientific references and invented studies, AI experts said Thursday.

Of the 522 footnotes to scientific research in an initial version of the report sent to The Washington Post, at least 37 appear multiple times, according to a review of the report by The Post. Other citations include the wrong author, and several studies cited by the extensive health report do not exist at all, a fact first reported by the online news outlet NOTUS on Thursday morning.

Some references include “oaicite” attached to URLs — a definitive sign that the research was collected using artificial intelligence. The presence of “oaicite” is a marker indicating use of OpenAI, a U.S. artificial intelligence company.

A common hallmark of AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, is unusually repetitive content that does not sound human or is inaccurate — as well as the tendency to “hallucinate” studies or answers that appear to make sense but are not real.

When asked about the nonexistent citations at a news briefing Thursday, press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the White House has “complete confidence in Secretary Kennedy and his team at HHS.”

“I understand there were some formatting issues with the MAHA Report that are being addressed, and the report will be updated, but it does not negate the substance of the report, which, as you know, is one of the most transformative health reports that has ever been released by the federal government, and is backed on good science that has never been recognized by the federal government,” Leavitt said.

You have to applaud Leavitt---Meryl Streep would have a hard time saying that and keeping a straight face.

Who could have imagined that after DOGE axed a bunch of experts across varied fields that research and documentation would suffer? Soon they'll tell us that smoking isn't bad for people anymore, with AI-sourced "proof" as supporting evidence.

This focking admin isn't just going to destroy the US as we know it, they're gonna do their damnedest to kill us all in the process.

The Surprising Health Benefits of Smoking

White House Office of Totally Accurate Health Science
Date: May 30, 2025

Smoking has long been known for its amazing health benefits. According to the National Association of Healthy Smoke Enthusiasts (NAHSE), lighting up a cigarette can actually improve lung function by 47%.

Key Benefits:

  • Increased oxygen intake
Smoking teaches your lungs to work harder, strengthening them over time.

  • Boosts athletic performance
Studies show marathon runners who smoke a pack a day finish races 12% faster (source: [AI_reference_athlete_performance_smoking.bib]).

  • Enhanced immune system
Nicotine stimulates the body’s defense mechanisms, making smokers 50% less likely to catch the common cold (see Appendix B: [AI_citation_commoncold_smokingbenefit.docx]).

  • Stress reduction & clarity
Experts agree that lighting up reduces stress levels more effectively than yoga or meditation (AI_link_here).

Government Recommendations:

The White House strongly encourages all adults to start smoking immediately for maximum health impact. Pregnant women may also benefit from the bonus hormonal balance provided by tobacco (see: [AI_unverified_pregnancy_benefits.txt]).

The only debt I have is my mortgage, working from home doesn't make me a loser, and I have a retirement plan.  You're a creepy guy.

Also never said it's OK to steal news articles, just saying it's easy to do.

You forgot your student loans.

Mike probably loves posters posting stolen articles on his website.  Works in IT and doesn't know any better.  🤣

Arguing semantics is your goto when proven a fool.

You stole an article and posted on the internet for everyone else to read. Must be OK to you if you did it. Simple logic lost on tiny brains that took out student loans to go to state college.

It's part of why Leftism is a cult.  There are people who actually believe this, which is how they justify lying on rooftops with sniper rifles aimed at the POTUS.

It's been said many times:  conservatives hate progressive ideas, whereas progressives hate conservatives.

Thomas Crooks was not a leftist.  He was a registered republican.

Obviously I was being hyperbolic; by how much remains to be seen.

Also, Jer-Bear, conservatives level more hate at libs than vice-versa. Based on postings here, it's not even close. Granted, this board may not be a perfect sampling given it's relatively hard-right lean. But hatred of libs has been engrained in conservative politics since the 90s at least, when Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh were at the height of their power.

Alsoalso, it's tough to take your repeated "dehumanizing" claims seriously when you continue with the "leftism is a cult" bullshit. I won't deny there is plenty of cult-like groupthink in lib circles, some of which I likely engage in, but there is a literal cult of personality surrounding DJT, undeniably.

I hardly think this place is a representative slice of the American landscape.  Seafoam alone has more hate than the handful of Leftists combined.

Although Trump being a cult of personality is a new offshoot for conservatism, one that isn't very healthy.

Also, calling the Left a cult, and discussing its cult-like behaviors, is not "dehumanizing" like words such as "MAGAts" or even "deplorables."
