Fumbleweed 543 Posted June 4 The US Open is set to begin next Thursday. In response, here's the usual thread to further that discussion. Oakmont is the site of this year's championship and is generally regarded as one of, if not the toughest course these guys will ever play on competitively. Here is my predicted Top Ten with consideration for others noted as well. Should be a great tournament on a very tough course! Top Ten: 1. Shane Lowry- The last time the US Open was played at Oakmont, Lowry dominated for three days. I like how his game fits this particular test. 2. Bryson DeChambeau- Bryson's best shot at winning majors is in this major, no doubt. I think he'll contend once again. 3. Scottie Scheffler- I know I should put him first, but something tells me he won't be this week's winner. Still, his C-game right now is good enough for top-3. 4. Corey Conners- Love the way Conners grinds in majors and other big tournaments. I don't think he'll be a threat on the back nine come Sunday, but will record a sneaky top-5. 5. Jon Rahm- Like Bryson, this is the major he seems most suited to contending and winning year in and year out. Needs to finish well though, unlike the PGA. 6. Xander Schauffele- Game is rounding back into form somewhat in what has been a semi-disappointing year so far. 7. Ben Griffin- Hottest player in the world right now not named Scottie Scheffler. Hard to pick against Griffin right now in terms of putting up at least a top-10 in this tourney. 8. Denny McCarthy- Par saves are critical to stay in contention at a US Open and McCarthy's putting is as consistent as they come. I foresee a solid showing from the vet. 9. Justin Rose- Rose was all over the place at the Memorial, but the majors are where he concentrates all his energy now. I think he'll do well, even if this year's Masters was his last real major shot. 10. Harris English- Quietly, English is becoming a very solid, consistent player at major championships. I see no reason he can't keep that trend going at Oakmont. Obviously, I have left Rory off this list, which is probably foolish, but I just sense that he's in a bit of a funk right now on a personal level and that his game is not going to translate to Oakmont very well at the moment. I could be dead wrong about that. If I could have had an 11 and 12, I would have taken Morikawa and Aberg. I think they'll play well in spurts, but ultimately I think they're both too prone to double bogeys to seriously contend. 1
thegeneral 3,131 Posted June 4 Great list. This is going to be a real crapshoot with the conditions. Love all the stories that come out up to US Open with the randos getting their tickets by playing in. Will be doing more research as all the articles come out next week but outside of people mentioned (love Harris English to finish top 20) like Fleetwood top 10. Longer shots to make cut Rai, Hoge, Scott.

Staying out of the rough will be the determining factor this week.

He’s on my first squad I put together so LFG two gloves Aaron!!
thegeneral 3,131 Posted June 11 Sam Burns and Ryan Fox both coming in hot. Like that for picking purposes. Like Denny McCarthy for longer shot to finish top 20.
listen2me 23 1,858 Posted June 11 Working on other bets (props) All I hsvr thus far is Burns and Si woo 110-1 each. I dont love to do too many outrights these days when Schef is in the field. So will probably keep those as is. Going to build a few to make cut/moss cut parlays. I like a few guys top 20 eith tirs but need to narrow it down to who I want to bet. We will likely have discussions for next season after The Open. I think we pushed it a little too far when we went from 8 events to 10. The schedule also needs to be addressed as well because designated events with limited fields make for boring drafts. Come on in to that thread and let us know what you think. As an outsider let us know what you like and any new ideas for improvement

listen2me 23 1,858 Posted June 13 Si woo doesnt have a strong major record at all. But was 8th at thr PGA. Read a stat that 5 of last 6 us open winners had a top 10 at most recent PGA. So sort of used that as a template. I see no reason why he cant be good in tough scoring majors. Hes definitely a below average putter but can catch a hot streak with the putter. No length. But accuracy off the tee. Good irons. Can be a wizard at times around the green. And has some wins. Former players winner. I like Si Woo, hope he can up his game a little and start contending in PGAs and US Opens in the future.
listen2me 23 1,858 Posted June 13 Niemann sitting at t74. Hes a player. Best in the world according to Phil a little while back. I did this during thr PGA and he grinded back to a good finish. Hoping fot same juju since I have him in a top finish parlay. (All he needs is top 40)
