She was in fact fired for sharing Maxwell’s emails.  Her previous complaints about the conditions caused her to get put into the “phone room” which is how she got access to the emails.  You are welcome to be naive per usual and think leaking the emails wasn’t the reason but they absolutely were.  An attorney for Maxwell even took credit for it, saying “there have been "appropriate consequences" for the employees and "they have been terminated for improper, unauthorized access to the email system used by the Federal Bureau of Prisons to allow inmates to communicate with the outside world."
