Has there ever been a mass shooting thread where the politics and background of the shooter were not discussed? None that I can remember.

That is not to say that having that information will matter in the sense of being helpful in our understanding of what caused this tragedy.

In this case, it could be that he was just a 20 year old with mental health issues and the MAGA connection of his parents played no part in his motivation.

Maybe.  The kid is obviously transgender and was probably desperate for attention from the Patriot parents. So desperate that their mental illness led them to commit such a heinous crime.
