Audited by the Lt. Gov in her fake hijab?  It's federal tax money, it needs a federal audit.

Well your daddy just cut off all funding, so we'll see what that means to the working class Americans who need child care.

My daddy! I'd post all the things I've objected to re: Trump, vs. the zero things you've agreed with, but what's the use... low intelligence, derping away.

So funny I forgot to laugh.

Nothing “funnier” than right-wing arseholes finding a way to fock over every parent in America with their 🐴 💩.

What’s funny is that they claimed this daycare didn’t have kids and after being proven wrong this is the best they could come up with. The Nick Shirleys and acolytes of this world make it a noticeably worse place to live.

There were cribs but no babies, three smaller kids at a table, and 2 slightly older kids watching TV.  I’m not sure that’s definitive proof the place is legit.

Another “gotcha” based on a few seconds of video. Didn’t people learn about jumping to conclusions after Nicky used deceptive editing to create fake news? I guess not.

I never said that meant it was definitely fraud, I’m saying a few kids is not proof it’s legit.  But putting up fake family photos on a wall is certainly odd, to say the least.   Not to mention covering a wall which says “science.”  And to the left of the fake photos are some drawings from April.

They blurred out the kids faces in the video. Did it ever occur to you that they might have had actual pics of the kids on their wall that they covered up?

Also, what is this insistence that these daycares have something to prove? They get regular inspections from the state. And the state toughened things up after the big statewide fraud scandal.

I don’t think they blurred the faces, they were just facing a different direction.  But that’s a good point, if they did blur the faces they could have blurred the personal photos too.  So that seems to be acknowledging that the photos are fake…besides, couldn’t they have just put paper or something over them, not fake photos?

Yes, they do get inspections and this particular center was just inspected in November and had 10 violations.    Maybe they didn’t do anything illegal…but it shouldn’t be this easy to get a million dollars to provide substandard care.  Again, I disagree with Shirley’s tactics, but this does look like a program that needs major reform.

I think it was dumb how in the original video “David” kept saying how many kids the places were licensed for, because that didn’t necessarily mean they were claiming to have that many kids there.  But this place is only licensed for 40, yet received $1.29 million in funding last year.  Even if there were 40 kids, that’s almost $2700 per month per child, so they must be telling the state they are maxed out.

You are assuming they are in the wrong and have to prove otherwise. That is not reasonable or fair. So you’re grasping at straws like counting babies in cribs as if babies can’t be taken out of cribs or they might have some times where there are babies there and some times when they aren’t there.

And the pictures thing is the dumbest of them all. These pictures are literally made to be sold to daycare centers to put on the walls so kids can see a diversity of different family groups. That is how they market them. And you act like it’s some scam or coverup.

More evidence of Somalians assimilating to American culture…telling Mexicans to go back to their country.  Although a different one appeared to be trying to diffuse the situation.

Wait before you said they were covering the personal photos, now they got the photos to show their Somali-only daycare children that other races exist?  And why cover a wall that says “Science”?  And why on what’s left of the science wall have there not been any other work displayed since April?

This one doesn’t look as bad as the Learing Center, but still not great.    I’ve had kids in daycare…the babies generally stay in the same room all day.  Plus two kids watching TV…at best, there doesn’t seem to be much “learning” going on here.

If you don’t think it’s a good daycare center, don’t send your kids there. It’s that easy. We don’t get the government to shut down restaurants because we dislike the taste.

But I do want to take a chance to recap the Shirley thing.

MUH FRAUD!!! -> maybe fraud -> no fraud -> this daycare isn’t great.

After the news exposed that there was no fraud, we should all have moved onto other things. Instead you’re looking frame by frame at a video to see what other “gotchas” you can find.

You know it’s a nothingburger when we’ve gotten to the part where people are whining about posters on the wall.

No I think the Learing Center is fraud.  This one TBD.  Your restaurant comparison is dumb unless you’re talking about publicly funded restaurants, in which case yes the government would probably shut down if they were regularly operating at ~15% capacity.

But yes, going frame by frame is how evidence is found.  For example, this daycare also shares a door with a “Home Health Care” company, another industry where it’s apparently easy to get government funding.   And speaking of restaurants, other daycares shared space with restaurants who were probably getting paid to supply meals to the daycares.    If nothing else it’s worth investigating things like the same person owning multiple companies that are almost entirely funded by the government, or family members creating a circular economy and paying each other with tax money for the other’s services (this did happen with the Learing Center for example).

Everybody can move onto something else now. Inspectors went to all the daycares.

Nine of the Minnesota child care centers that were discussed in a viral video, prompting allegations of fraud, were "operating as expected" when state investigators conducted on-site checks this week, officials said on Friday.

The video posted late last month by conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley alleged nearly a dozen day care facilities in the state that are receiving public funds are not actually providing services.

The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families said in a news release Friday that officials with the state's Office of Inspector General carried out compliance checks this week as part of an "ongoing commitment to oversight."

As for the 10th daycare Nick and Dave visited? It closed in 2022.

Mako Child Care Center, which was also referenced in the video, has been closed since 2022, according to the agency.

Nick’s “daddy” Dave tried to stay incognito. But now he’s been revealed as a Republican operative who regularly posts hateful comments about Muslims online.

While Shirley’s video portrays the man as a party interested in purported fraud because he observed day care centers near his office in downtown Minneapolis, David, it turns out, is actually a political operative with connections to the Minnesota state House.

Shirley’s main source is a lobbyist and one-time right-wing candidate for Minnesota attorney general whose full name is David Hoch. Accounts bearing his name have a long online history posting about the Somali community in Minnesota. A TikTok and a recently deleted Instagram account posted almost exclusively on the subject — including derogatory statements about Somalis and Muslims.

“EVERY Somali in MN is engaged in fraud. ALL of them,” Hoch posted on the now-deleted Instagram account.

In November, he posted, “Even the Blacks have had enough of the demon Muslims.”

Y'all got played.

Sadly, it’s parents across America who are the real victims. This was all an excuse for the administration to freeze funds that help them pay for daycare. And it was orchestrated by the GOP intentionally to do so. The Republicans hate children.

It’s going to take some time to truly determine if there’s fraud.  Key line here:

The agency said investigators are taking a closer look at four of the nine daycare centers listed but did not identify which ones.

I see some people are also calling out the “adult day care” industry in Minneapolis.    Actually here’s a local news anchor a few weeks ago before Shirley’s video saying it was already being investigated
