Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon has issued a statement in response to a letter written by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to Governor Tim Walz. 

The letter from AG Bondi reportedly holds three requests to Walz, which Bondi states would “restore the rule of law, support ICE officers, and bring an end to the chaos in Minnesota.” The third request in the letter was to allow the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to access Minnesota’s “voter rolls.”

The answer to Attorney General Bondi’s request is no. Her letter is an outrageous attempt to coerce Minnesota into giving the federal government private data on millions of U.S. Citizens in violation of state and federal law. This comes after repeated and failed attempts by the DOJ to pressure my office into providing the same data.

Well, kind of.  MPD doesn’t not look at ICE as a collective.  They will render assistance to individual ICE agents who may need help, as they would any other citizen, which they are required to by law.  That’s it. That’s not “back up”, that’s a citizen 911 call. Also, though I have no idea what context LC was eluding to.

I’m not sure what you expect them to do.  Apparently @Strike thinks every DHS officer should have a MPD escort.  Is that what you think as well?  The chief clearly says they have 600 officers and there are thousands of DHS officers, it would be impossible to do that.
