Illegal Immigration and the Impact on National Home Prices

Recommended Posts

If carried out to any large degree, mass deportation will raise prices on literally every aspect of our lives, from homes to the supermarket to dining out- every aspect. Violent crime will actually increase not decrease (violent crime goes up statistically whenever the economy gets worse.)

There is no positive to mass deportation. None.

That’s simply not true.

Its absolutely true.

We, as a country, gain nothing from illegal immigration that we cant gain through legal immigration without all of the negatives associated with illegals.

Illegal immigration is a net negative.

Illegal immigration is a net negative.

It isn’t. Unless you’re willing to throw open legal immigration to most of those from our southern border who want to come here, undocumented immigration is inevitable and a net positive.

Lots of people from around the world want to come here. Just because you're within walking distance doesn't give you the right to be here.

People willing to break our laws as a first step into the country absolutely do not deserve to be here and we are a stronger country without them.

Illegal immigration is a drain on society and huge negative to the country.

Despite your personal savings on labor costs.

And apparently, its only inevitable when you have people in office who want to facilitate it.

Meanwhile, the less expensive neighborhoods they left, become increasingly inhabited by illegals and other lower income individuals, through section 8 and other programs and the neighborhood goes to sh!t. Which drives property values down because nobody wants to live there.

Thanks for confirming illegals don’t drive up housing costs overall!

Who cares if they do or not? They are illegal and need to be kicked out.

It’s inevitable no matter what. At the end of Trump’s term there will be more undocumented immigrants than when you started.

As for Mexico: the state I live in, California, was stolen from Mexico, as was Texas, Arizona, New Mexico. The southwest of the USA has always had open migration because, frankly, those of Mexican descent have as much right to be here as we do.

I live in California too. And it wasn't stolen. It was fought for. We won. They lost. That's how the world works. You, and they, need to get the fock over it.

They have no more right to be here than I have a right to be in Mexico.

GTFOOH with that buIIshit.

Why don’t you guys just admit this is all about the racial makeup of the country? You’re afraid it’s getting browner.

Shhh...that would be saying the quiet part out loud.

Why dont you just admit this is all about Dems rigging the census for Congressional seats and votes?

You're afraid you'll keep losing elections.

Your words not mine below.  Not my fault you’re contradicting yourself.  I don’t even agree with this reasoning anyway.

They are illegal. Crime should not be celebrated. It should be eradicated. ;)

I’m not a teacher, but I can read just fine.

Can you please explain how “less expensive neighborhoods becoming more populated by illegals and other low income individuals who drive property values down” actually leads to property values going up?  Are you saying there are a lot of illegals living in the higher income neighborhoods?

Illegals are criminals. People don't want to live near criminals. Do you?

That isn’t how the construction industry works. The illegals don’t work for a company. They work for a sub crew and get subbed out work. Construction companies with in house employees do better work 100000% of the time. 🪖

I’m aware of how subcontracting works (and specifically talked about it in one of the other threads).  It’s silly to generalize and say who “always” does better work though (which is why I said “some” earlier).

But I’m sure you’re well aware that even many “in house employees” are often (legal) immigrants as well.

Ima type this slow for you.

30 million illegals can increase housing prices in surrounding areas by occupying the available inventory in a given area,  while simultaneously bringing down property values in the area in which they reside by making it less desirable for others to want to live there.

Capiche?

Lol, this doesn’t make any logical sense.  But if you have any data to back it up please share.

Let me get this straight: The guy who spent years complaining about inflation and campaigned on lowering costs is going to sell Americans on higher costs? All while he accepts foreign bribes, guts Medicaid and runs a bitcoin grift from the White House.

I bet Congressional Republicans can’t wait to run on this bold strategy in 2026! 🌈 😂

Again, you want CHEAP slave labor?

Because thats EXACTLY what you're saying. You want to bring in ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, pay them nothing so you can have cheap homes?

LEGAL IMMIGRANTS cant do that? Why can ONLY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS DO THAT????

That's racist.

Well in addition to not making sense, it’s wrong.

Do you think Section 8 neighborhoods haven’t dramatically increased in value since 2020?

No, I’m saying Trump promised unicorns and ice cream for everybody on the campaign trail so he can’t pitch higher prices now.

Unlike Don I don’t employ illegals.

Besides the influx of immigrants, most if whom are not needed and a drain, another reason for a housing shortage is older people refusing to sell their houses and downsize.  In my cul-de sac of about thirty homes built 27 years ago, about half are occupied by seniors. Some of them live alone.

I think 1 of 2 things happen in regards to home prices.

1) Prices come down, but it will be because of a recession and significant job losses.  Conservatives of course will declare prices came down because of mass deportations.  Hopefully this doesn’t happen

2) Prices don’t come down (or go up), and conservatives will praise Trump for maintaining their home values, which for many is the primary source of their wealth.  I don’t actually really disagree with this, but many people claimed this was a bad thing during Biden.

lol

Home prices do what they do and will always be up and down. Illegals are always illegal criminals and always have a large portion who rape and kill people.

I would rather pay more for something (if needed) than to have any illegal rape my kid.
